I'm going home
And when I want to go home, I'm going mobile
Well I'm gonna find a home on wheels, see how it feels,
Goin' mobile
Keep me moving

I can pull up by the curb,
I can make it on the road,
Goin' mobile
I can stop in any street
And talk with people that we meet
Goin' mobile
Keep me moving

Out in the woods
Or in the city
It's all the same to me
When I'm driving free
The world's my home
When I'm mobile

Play the tape machine
Make the toast and tea
When I'm mobile
Well, I can lay in bed with only highway ahead
When I'm mobile
Keep me moving

Keep me moving
Over fifty
Keep me groovin'
Just a hippie gypsy
Come on move now
Movin'
Keep me movin' yeah

Keep me movin', movin', movin', yeah
Movin' yeah
Mobile, mobile, mobile, mobile....

I don't care about pollution
I'm an air-conditioned gypsy
That's my solution
Watch the police and the taxman miss me!
I'm mobile!
Mobile, mobile, mobile, yeah

General Comment:F-R-E-A-K-Y....while he no doubt wants to travel about with a set of wheels he can literally call home...the reference is strikingly similar to mobile, as in mobile phone (even out in the woods). Especially, play the tape machine...as in answering machine...just strange and prophetic, if ya ask me. Hell...now even the www is mobile as well...

General Comment:Personally, I think it's about stepping out from wherever you are. Finally taking initiative in something you've wanted to do for the longest time or be it spontaneous.

Like a vacation, everyone needs to go mobile to keep their sanity?

General Comment:yeah I heard about that, zefineis. I heard the song was set in the future and the government banned driving or something due to all the pollution but this didnt matter to Pete (or whoever in the story) and he breaks the law and goes driving anyways ("I don't care about pollution" "Watch the police and the tax man miss me") Great song!

General Comment:Though I think the correct lyrics are:
Well, I'm gonna find a home
ON WHEELS see how it feels

General Comment:I'm not sure, zefineis, but I don't think so. The repeated titles of the remastered tracks (1995) are from the earlier New York session with Kit Lambert, and I think if they had planned for it to be on Lifehouse it would have been released on this reissue, unless they did record it and left it in a vault somewhere.

Townshend used an envelope follower to modulate the spectrum of his guitar on "Going Mobile", giving it a distinctive squawking sound that degenerates into a bubbling noise at the end of the song. I don't know what an envelope follower is but it sounds cool.

I agree with Dhruva on the interpretation, that once life on the road is experienced, it begs to be repeated because of lack of responsibility, the continuing movement, the constant new faces, it all sounds quite fun.

General Comment:Have anybody heard to say this is a Lifehouse's song, about the people being prohibited to move from their hometown to another place? I heard that in a documentary, and it tolds there´s a relation between Goin´ Mobile and Baba O'Riley, for their parts of the same story.

General Comment:First of all, it's townshend who sings the song. Secondly, the song is about how people who love travelling often forget or choose to forget other things in life. They don't care about pollution. They know no responsibility. They just keep travelling. Even when they're old. And pete explains subtly why too. Because travelling is a pleasure & is often rather addictive. When you get hooked on to travelling, it's hard to let go of it & keep moving places.
One of the most underrated who songs ever. One of the first I ever heard & one of my most loved. I am still trying to figure out how pete manages to write such divine lyrics & puts it is such a fun loving song. Amazing..........
