    Song Meaning:Beautiful song. And the lyrics are pretty simple, if I understand them correctly: Even when life treats you bad, when everything seems to go wrong, when you're sad and hurting - don't give up, keep on smiling, lift your head up high and try to see life for all the good things, and not the bad.

    Though I have to say, it's not always that simple... But I'm pretty sure that Chaplin didn't mean that it was, I think all he wanted to say with this song was that we at least have to TRY :)

    General Comment:When I heard this in My Girl 2, I got up and downloaded the song right away. It took me a while to find the Nat King Cole version but I absolutely fell in love with the song... it's just so true and I only wish that a few certain people in my life would realize that 'life is still worth while if you just smile". A bad day isn't the end of the world... and it's okay to cry... but life isn't about focusing on all the shit in life. It's about doing the best you can with the hand you're dealt. I guess what I'm tryiing to say is that this song is like the old adage "every cloud has a silver lining." You just have to look for it.

    General Comment:Nat King Cole's voice is just amazing. He makes the song full of life and brings a certain ambiance that you can't get from any other artist. I have to agree with white stone 3, you definitely got it on point. This is about keeping a smile even if you feel like giving up. A smile will just bring happiness to those around you and to yourself.

    General Comment:When I think of this song, I think of all those who have gone to war, all our good men and women who are still fighting for us and I pray to God that they won't give up fighting, no matter what. I love this song. Thank you Charlie Chaplin for giving this uplifting song to the world. RIP.

    General Comment:This song is basically telling you that crying wont make things better and smiling will help you get over your sadness. Don't let sadness ruin your day, and make everyday be the best it can be. Dont let people remember you for year tears, but for your smiling years lol this is a wonderfulk song and It always makes me feel better when Im down. Another great lifter upper is you raise me up by Josh Groban. He has a wonderful voice.
