She's trapped inside her room
With reruns on the screen
Old books and movies
But she can't stop thinking
I'm torn between myself
My radio my friends
I want to write this one off over and over again
And then she looked at me to scream
"My castles are falling"
But I can't look into the street
Without everything changing

I want to read good news
I want to be innocent again
I want to read good news
But nothing good is happening

She waits all day
She stands a stranger in her skin
She moves the science with her hands
She lines her walls
With every paper she can see
These words consume her
But they never set her free

And then she looked at me to scream
"My castles are falling"
But I can't look into the street
Without everything changing

I want to read good news
I want to be innocent again
I want to read good news
But nothing good is happening

I want to read good news
I want to be a little kid again
I want to read good news
But nothing good is happening
I want to read good news
I want to go to sleep at night again
I want to read good news
But nothing good is happening

My Interpretation:Wow, I'm still listening to this song now.

I think a lot of evidence of escapism is offered, the girl surrounds herself with "reruns", "old books and movies", the papers she lines her walls with. She's searching for solace. She comforts herself with these things. She's experiencing a period of change and maturation, and is searching for a way to cope. She doesn't know who she is anymore or how to proceed, "She stands a stranger in her skin." She's "trapped". She doesn't want to be in this position, but she doesn't have feel capable of handling this any other way at the moment.

Her actual situation is vague. It could be a bad break up, the death of a loved one, parents' divorce, etc. But clearly it was something she depended on, as its loss causes her "castles" to fall and she wishes to return to a time of innocence and security.

Ultimately, I think she's struggling with how to adapt. She needs to step out and find hope and change. This is difficult because she's still licking her wounds. She tries to devote herself to escapism, "But she can't stop thinking". She's torn between the comfort of her radio versus the reality of her friends. She just wants to write this off. The words she reads consume her but they don't set her free. They can occupy her attention for a while, but they don't last nor do they bring release nor enlightenment.

This is really applicable to 9/11 and I like it for that, but it's not necessarily specific to that tragedy. Blind Melon's "No Rain" and Simon and Garfunkel's "I Am A Rock" have similar subjects.

General Comment:We spend our entire childhood wishing we could just grow up. Then, we spend the rest of our lives wishing we never did. It's ironic how life is. I think this song sums up the life of every single person out there. Life was not as complicated when we were kids. You lived just for the sake of living.

General Comment:I think this song is about how when your younger all you hear about is good news and everything in your world stays the same, always good. Now when you get older you reliz good things dont always happen. "My castels are falling" I think that part is about her world around ehr is falling apart from what she knew. And she cant do anything with out something in the world always changing.

General Comment:i think this song is about going through a time in your life where everything is perfect and everyone wants to know you and then when its over feeling so lonely and wishing you had that time back again. She wants everything good to happen but its just not happening

General Comment:i wrote an essay on this song, so i had to completely analize it and listen to it around a hundred times, i really dont think it has anything to do with 9-11. i pretty much discovered that its about a girl who grew up with and got accustomed to an innocent and positive media. This positive media included Disney-type influences, with feel-good plots and happy-ending stories. Now later in life she cannot deal with the real world. She feels it lacks simplicity and stability, for it is nothing like what she dreamt it would be when she was young.
“she’s trapped inside her room with reruns on the screen old books and movies”-means she wants to live again in her innocent past with her old books and movies
“but i can’t look into the street without everything changing”-means the girl lacks stability in her life, but cannot find it in a rapidly changing world.
“she lines her walls with every paper she can see”-means the girl is trying to get her mind off the situation in the world and the lack of good news
chorus echoes how the girl wants good news, wants to be innocent again, but nothing good is happening. The girl wants a happy ending to her life, just like in her childhood stories. She also wants to be innocent and not understand what is happening in the world, just to live in her own simple, stable world.
“castles are falling”-symbolic of all the girl’s innocent childhood dreams, with princesses, fairies, and happy-endings, that are not being realized after she grew up
“she’s trapped inside her room”-means she is trapped mentally in that she cannot deal with the extent, chaos, speed, and magnitude of the outside world
and wow that came out long

General Comment:SoCo has a way with making u picture what was goin thru their heads when they wrote this song. Like theres this guy who...like alot of other people have already said...see the world thru these new eyes and just notices how much reality sucks. I dont think it has anything to do with 9-11, but more of a relationship gone bad that made them relaize that nothing else is much better than his relationship...their castles are fallin
