Look at me dreaming of you
All I could hope is to have you
To have you walking with me
Laughing so in love, we two
Almost drunkenly
I did imbibe of this
Fantasy of you and me

Was I a fool to think?
The way you looked at me
I swear you did
But you looked away too quick
Was I a fool, was I a fool to think
That you would take me home
As if I was yours
Was I a fool to think at all?

I've grown tired of love
You are the trouble with me
I watch you walk right by
I smile, you do not notice me
Treat me recklessly
All you do is toss me pennies out
But the silence in me is screaming
Won't you come and get me?

Was I a fool to think?
The way you looked at me
I swear you did
But you looked away too quick
Was I a fool, was I a fool to think
That you would take me home
As if I was yours
Was I a fool to think at all?

Was I a fool to think?
The way you looked at me
I swear you did
But you looked away too quick
Was I a fool, was I a fool to think
That you would take me home
As if I was yours
Was I a fool to think at all?

You make a mess of me here
I dance a thousand steps for you
If you say yes to me
I'll be whatever gets you through

You make a mess of me here (was I a fool?)
I dance a thousand steps for you (was I a fool?)
Was I a fool, was I a fool to think?
Am I a fool, am I a fool for you?

General Comment:I love Dave so much and this has to be one of his best songs! Now i'm not talking about the melody or any type of musical part of the song, i'm talking about the lyrics. I can really connect to them because I am going through the same exact situation. After hearing this song it really made me reaize i was a "fool to think".

General Comment:I just saw someone, I thinking that someone actually looked at me, can't forget the eyes and smile on that face, and I start to fall.
"The way you looked at me
    I swear you did
But you looked away too quick"

too perfect with what I'm thinking.
I was feeling down this past few days, because of that feeeling lingering on my entire body and mind, have no one to share it with, and that makes me awfully confused and disgustted.

But after having read the lyrics above, I am so happy now, at least I know, Im not the only one whose "Fool to Think"!

General Comment:this is most deffinitaly a great dmb song I feel like I can seriously relate to it. I had liked this girl for the longest time and I thought for sure that she felt the same way. We were at this party and I tried to tell her but it turns out she had different feelings. That was probably the worst moment of my entire life. She was the only girl that I had ever loved in my entire life. I felt like such a fool. Idk, I was just so certain that she loved me as well. Her friends even told me that she did. This happened 2 days ago. Now I'm basicaly depresed beyond all belief. So depressed that I skipped school today to try and set my mind straight. Idk what happened to us. She is also my best friend (who is a girl).I thought I was getting all of these good signs from her. I guess I am just an idiot. Maybe she used to love me and then she changed her mind of something. I don't know what to do. I know that I can't give up on her. I won't let myself give up even if that makes me a fool I don't care. All I care about is her. I would have done anything for that girl. Sometimes I wish I had I time machine. I could to back on time and male everything right. We are still going to the prom together so maybe that will make things right. Anyways, I have been searching my ipod for the perfect song to describe my feelings and what happened. This is the perfect one.

General Comment:So, I just went through a major heartbreak. This song has so much personal meaning to me.

"That you would take me home
    As if I was yours
Was I a fool to think at all?"

This basically sums up the whole situation. We got close, but he broke my heart. I seriously thought we could have something...but, anyway. the song rings true to how i am feeling now. Was i a fool to think i could have something with him?

"You make a mess of me here
I dance a thousand steps for you
If you say yes to me
I'll be whatever gets you through"

The worst part is, i want to still be that person for him. gah. I love DMB. This song helps me realize that im not the only one who has felt this way. Its amazing how songs can get you through tough situations. And DMB always seems to have the perfect song.

General Comment:Such an emotionly correct song. its clear many of us can identify with dave's sentiment in this song.
The meaning is fairly clear. A man fantasises about a woman who he likes and he thinks that she likes him too but doesn't know for certain and is afraid to take the plunge and ask. he suspects and later finds out it was all in his head (or was it..?)
Easily the best line in the song, 'Silence in my screaming won't you come and get me' a sentiment i can identify with extremely stongly.
    Such a true song!

Good music too. the riff is similar to that of message in a bottle by the police. indeed it is the same riff in places but on diffecernt frets (same intervals though). It gives the song a very sting and the policey feel which is cool!

Lastly, THE EVERYDAY ALBUMN is not bad. Its killer and anyone who says it isn't obviously hasn't been listening.

Easily one of dave's best lyrics and one i can identify with so easily 'The silence in me screaming won't you come and get me!'
    So true.
