Stories taught
Quiet town
Small time for big time crowd
Never talks
Never plays
Different path
Lost his way
The streets are red
Red I'm afraid
There's no confetti
No parade
Nothing happens in this boring place
But oh my god how it all did change
And they all pray
Blood stain wash away
He said
"Lost my way
This bloody day
Lost my way"
I heard it
He said
"Lost my way
This bloddy day
Lost my way"
Oh please wash away
But blood stains the sun red today
I always said
Something wrong
Little strange
Ronnie Long
Never laugh
Never smile
Talked alone for miles and miles and miles
Yellow comes
Sun I say
Keep your smile and laugh all day
He falls again in this foreign place
For little boys how they soon chase
And they all pray
Blood stain wash away
He said
"Lost my way
This bloody day
Lost my way"
I heard it
He said
"Lost my way
This bloddy day
Lost my way"
Oh please wash away
But blood stains the sun red today
Yeah, well all the green things died
When Ronnie moved to this place
He said
"Don't you dare ask why I'm cursed to wear this face"
Now we all know why the children called him Ronnie frown
When he pulled that gun from his pocket
They all fall down, down and down
He said
"Lost my way
This bloddy day
Lost my way"
I heard him
He screamed
"Lost my way
This bloddy day
Lost my way"
Oh please wash away
But blood stains the sun red today
All things wash away
They all fall down
But blood stains the sun today
All things wash away
They all fall down
But blood stains the sun today

General Comment:Always thought this was an amazing song with great riffs and awesome lyrics. But today with this awful shooting in Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, these lyrics are more true and relevant than ever. The words in this song depict what happened in real life so well that it looks as if James were telling Adam Lanza's story 16 years ago.
And the part where he writes:
"Now we all know why the children called him Ronnie frown
When he pulled that gun from his pocket
They all fall down, down and down" is particularly scary given the current situation we're hearing about on the news. It sends shivers to my spine.
Incredible tune by the boys, as usual.

General Comment:I don't think I ever heard a song that's so flippant and serious at the same time. On the one hand, the lyrics show a great deal of understanding for how deeply disturbed the perpetrator felt, and on the other hand, when all is said and done, it just laughs it all off. It reminds me of No Leaf Clover, which has a similar intonation. The underlying message to me is that the whole of life is just a big joke anyway, and even its tragedies have a comical side to them.

Song Meaning:I noticed someone commented a few years ago making the connection to Amityville, and that's what I always think of when I hear this song. Does anyone else think this?

General Comment:this is a great song. i like it because it is different than there other stuff. i love it when bands step out of their norms. i get bored when every single song on an album has the same style to it. i listen to a wide range of bands and styles of music because its boring just listening to the same styles of music all the time. i think thats why so many fans don't like the new metallica stuff, they're afraid of change. that's why i love metallica, they do what they want. sure they may lose some fans but they in turn gain twice as many. they write the songs that were right for them at the time, not songs to try and please everyone.

General Comment:just because a song is about a school shooting doesn't mean you should hate it. did you like fade to black? well that seemed to be about suicide.

General Comment:whoever typed these up does not have word. i like this song even though i haven't heard it yet. i get a feel from the lyrics. i don't care if it doesn't sound like metallica's early work. as long as it sounds good and has james singing.

General Comment:this song does not sound like Metallica at all actually.

if you compare it to their earlier legendary stuff, then this song is like a failure.
The lyrics are soo simple and kind of meaningless.
This isn't Metallica style at all.
    Though i lovee them!
But anyways, they tryed something new, they don't have anything else to proove. Since they were at the top, the only way to go is down.
    End of:)

General Comment:Whoever has been typing up the Metallica lyrics needs to listen a little more closely. There are some glaring errors in a lot of these lyrics.
