Six o'clock in the morning
You're the last to hear the warning
You've been tryin' to throw your arms around the world
You've been falling off the sidewalk
Your lips move but you can't talk
Tryin' to throw your arms around the world

Gonna run to you, run to you, run to you
Be still
Gonna run to you, run to you, run to you
Woman I will
Oh!

Sunrise like a nosebleed
Your head hurts and you can't breathe
How far you gonna go?
Before you lose your way back home
You've been tryin' to throw your arms
Around the world

Gonna run to you, run to you, run to you
Woman be still
I'm gonna run to you, run to you, run to you
Woman I will

Yeah, I dreamed that I saw Dali
With a supermarket trolley
He was tryin' to throw his arms around a girl
He took an open top beetle (open top beetle)
Through the eye of a needle (eye of a needle)
He was tryin' to throw his arms around the world

Gonna run to you, run to you, run to you
Woman be still
I want to run to you, run to you, run to you
Oh, Woman I will

Ah...and you just gotta, you just gotta make your faith...see...
Oooh...oooh...yeah yeah...yeah yeah...yeah yeah...yeah yeah...

Nothin' much to say I guess
You're just the same as all the rest
Been tryin' to throw your arms around the world
And a woman needs a man
Like a fish needs a bicycle
When you're tryin' to throw your arms around the world

I'm gonna run to you, run to you, run to you
I'm gonna run to you, run to you, run to you
I'm gonna run to you, run to you, run to you
Woman be still
Woman be still
Be still
Woman be still
Woman I will

General Comment: I think it means that you passed out on the floor with your arms spread apart. Like you were tryin to hold the world.

General Comment:On the surface, this song is about a hangover, Bono has stated that many times. But I think if you dig a little deeper than that, the song is about rock star excesses, the surrealness of it all (the Dali verse)and wanting to experience all that's out there (trying to throw your arms around the world), but realizing that you're pushing things to the limit and risking what's important to you. The line "how far you gonna go, before you lose your way back home" sums the whole thing up. The "I'm gonna run to you" lines in the chorus are his promise that he'll return to her, despite the lure of that lifestyle, but will she still need him (A woman needs a man...)?

General Comment:"Throwing your arms around the world." <---Seems like the lyric is about the band itself. U2 was famous for writing political songs doing all of these world-saving-charity.

But maybe Bono or other members of the band, has neglected their family or significan other in the process and Bono has realized that they can't just go around "saving the world"(Throwing your arms around the world)

General Comment:The woman/bicycle line is a paraphrased quote from Gloria Steinem. The original quote is: "A woman without a man is a like a fish without a bicycle"

General Comment:I think the song is about frustration. It is almost impossible to build an equal relationship today 'cos his woman is so developed: "a woman needs a man Like a fish needs a bicycle" and the guy wondering how far she'll throw her arms around the world, chasing career, public role, love, etc.. the good thing is he wants to develop as well! and run for her

General Comment:A woman, a naif, puts her heart out for love--open to the whole world. She can't find it. She's failing, miserably.she's in pain...nose bleeding, can't breath...it's killing her. How long will it be before she dies (goes back home) from her search for true love?
Here he is , waiting for her, he'll run to her. But it's like a wise man shopping for love trying to do something impossible. Sit still woman, have faith in love, it will come to you...running.
