Lyrics for Dyers Eve as interpreted by fennsk

Dyers Eve Lyrics
Dear Mother
Dear Father
What Is this Hell You Have Put Me Through
Believer
Deceiver
Day in Day out Live My Life Through You
Pushed onto Me What's Wrong or Right
Hidden from this Thing That They Call Life

Dear Mother
Dear Father
Every Thought I'd Think You'd Disapprove
Curator
Dictator
Always Censoring My Every Move
Children Are Seen But Are Not Heard
Tear out Everything Inspired

Innocence
Torn from Me Without Your Shelter
Barred Reality
I'm Living Blindly

Dear Mother
Dear Father
Time Has Frozen Still What's Left to Be
Hear Nothing
Say Nothing
Cannot Face the Fact I Think for Me
No Guarantee, it's Life As Is
But Damn You for Not Giving Me My Chance

Dear Mother
Dear Father
You've Clipped My Wings Before I Learned to Fly
Unspoiled
Unspoken
I've Outgrown That Fucking Lullaby
Same Thing I've Always Heard from You
Do as I Say Not as I Do

Innocence
Torn from Me Without Your Shelter
Barred Reality
I'm Living Blindly
I'm in Hell Without You
Cannot Cope Without You Two
Shocked at the World That I See
Innocent Victim Please Rescue Me

Dear Mother
Dear Father
Hidden in Your World You've Made for Me
I'm Seething
I'm Bleeding
Ripping Wounds in Me That Never Heal
Undying Spite I Feel for You
Living out this Hell You Always Knew.

How Jaymz was tortured by his parents as a youth. I can't say enough things about this hard, fast, angry, awsome closing song, so I won't try.

Jaymz, you have described the pressure and structure most if not all parents have over their children. One of my favorite songs. I dedicate this song to every parental figure I've ever had. (I've been adopted several times that's why I say 'parents')

OK children, let's not turn this into a complete parent-bashing session. While it's perfectly clear that he's angry with his parents, he also knows they had good intentions. "I'm in hell without you/ Cannot cope without you two/ Shocked at the world that I see/ Innocent victim please rescue me" He's saying that even though he hated life with his parents, he hates the outside world even more. By the way, fuckin awesome end to an incredible album.

James grew up in a strict Baptist family (one HELLA F*CKED UP bunch o' people IMHO). It's the overprotection of his parents that is the subject of the song.

It's not about parent bashing or 'parents holding the kids down'. It's about living under the iron fist of industrial strength Bible-Thumpers. It made for a very difficult childhood, as can be heard in this brutal song.

He was raised Christian Scientist, not Baptist for the record.

james wrote this song for the kids. He needed the band to really relate to their younger crowd so he made dyers eve. This song also has the most unappreciated solo ever. Kirk plays with such grace and speed at the same time. I have heard every Metallica song there is and this is one of their greatest masterpieces.

Jesus Christ its funny to see people who are still young enough to hate their parents are still listening to Metallica. I remember being in 9th grade waiting in line at 6:00 in the morning for this album to hit the shelves.
One day you will realize that for the most part parents only want whats best for their kids. Not all parents do it right, but most try. Be lucky if you can relate to parents who are trying to shelter you from the world, at least they care. Obviously you arent living on the street or starving since you have a fucking COMPUTER! Enough said.

It's really hard to say "This is Metallica's Best Song Ever" but I'm very close to saying that. Without a doubt, THE Most Intense, it's unspeakable, the raw fuckin power and aggro that rises up into your throat when listening to this mind-murdering assassination attempt of a song. THIS shows who Metallica really is, They ARE Power, raw and untamed, there's NO SONG on Earth that can fully compare to what this song dares and I cannot say enough on how Absolutely mind-blowing this one is........ God Bless Metallica!!!!!!

They never palyed this one life, because of a problem Lars had with the drumming. At the super fast double bass drum part, that was done ina different take to the rest of the drum part.Apparently, it was to fast for lars to play while he did everything else,so he played it solo and then it was edited in.Interesting.Good song to,but its no Blackened. Also, some nice bass work from Jason.

Yeah doesn't suprise me. I saw Joey from slipknot play for metallica and he was better than Lars. Wish they had played this song with him, I bet he could do it. Not that Lars isn't a good drummer in his own right.

i can sometimes relate to these lyrics, not that i dont love my parents, and i hope they dot see me rocking to it, cuz of the lyrics, but anyway i think this is a complete run down of all the basic thoughts that run through a teenagers head during puberty. its great. the solo is good too, but when i was listening to it for the first time it was a bit predictable, and it took me a while to appreciate the composition, but i love it now, always gets me headbangin, lol

Hey Cruncher, i'm pretty sure he grew up in a Christian Science household, which is REALLY wacky IMHO; I'm Lutheran which is close to Non-Denominational in my case.

And Delta 9, go listen to some more of your Taking Back Sunday emo boy.
