This song is such a moving celebration of love, that it is easy to miss that a relationship (but not the love)is actually ending. Even in the midst of letting go, the passion between two lovers continues to grow. Every note and lyric sings of the mystery of life and love. Embrace it all-there is nothing to deny! The pain of a "break up" is transformed. Letting go and beginning again invites growth and love to any relationship so even as a "wedding song" Lover Lay Down is perfect!

    General Comment:This is my absolute favorite Dave song. I have been to 14 shows and only heard this song performed once. I was in udder shock and stood still and just moved with the lyrics. I can see how this song could be a break up song. He was very hurt by his ex girlfriend, Julia. I feel the song entails all love, new, old, lost, or current. It is about longing for someone and remembering when they were there. The trails of a relationship!

    General Comment:This song IS about a break up. His true love that he had once been with had broke his heart, and all he longs for is to be back with her. So he says "we were so much younger than" convincing her that they "are stronger" and capable of handling the relationship if they get back together. He's trying to convince her to let go of the past and move forward with him, leave all of their issues "million reasons" and toss them away. He loves her so much that he could not settle with anyone else, she is irreplaceable, "I will wait for no one but you" ...this song is sad when you think about it, he's begging for her love. I love the song though!

    General Comment:I don't mean to ruin this love song for everyone, but it's actually about a breakup. The speaker was broken up with apparently, and now is reflecting on the good times they had and expresses his feelings of wanting it to go back to that.

    General Comment:From the first notes of this song I'm caught, and his voice comes in so soft and seductive that I can't help but close my eyes and savor that sound. "kiss me won't you kiss me now, and sleep I would inside your mouth." Oooh...I think he's saying that the kissing is so good that he could stay that way forever! Mmmm...I bet it is, Dave.

    General Comment:Not really sure of the meaning, but like many of Dave's songs, I feel warm and wonderful when I hear him. This one I feel
