Indeed, the Live version of Pushit is much better then the older version. My favorite Tool song ever.

I get chills listining to this song, live. God damn my memory i cant remember if he sang it at the concert about 1/4 year ago! Anyways i like the last 2 minuts of the song it gets so incredibly emotional, i sing along even though i can't. =)

this version of the song by far surpasses the original version. the majority of the song is amazingly relaxing and melodious while the ending is powerful and exhilerating. when i hear the line "theres no love in fear" i get such an adreniline rush.

The beginning of this song makes me cry, with his voice and the tablas (is that what those little drums are called?). I put it on the cd player and when he asks : "Is that ok?" I scream YES! at the top of my voice... :)

This is probably Tool's most beautiful and intense songs ever. You get such a surge when the song hits:
"Staring down the hole again.

Survival is my only friend.
Terrified of what may come.

The music and lyrics just fit together perfectly here and blow you away!

This is such an amazing song, by far my favorite. It instantly puts me in a peaceful trance, a great song to fall asleep to. I wish everyone could appreciate this song the same I do

what a perfectly crafted organization of sound. so good to see a band willing to extend themselves and produce ten minute epics that ebb and flow with different moods and sounds, instead of bullshit 3 minute verse/chorus/verse excuses that pass for music nowadays.

It send shivers down my spine when Maynard sings almost acoustic right at the beginning of the song. Even though I love this song so much, I don't listen to it too often, that way I won't get too bored with it and everytime I listen to it, it's more and more special.

This is by far my favorite Tool song. The last bit when he sings

is the most awesome part of the song. I take this section of the song and sing along with it, aiming the first bit at myself, and the second at a person who pretty much said the same thing to me. I could listen to this song for hours and never tire of it.

No other band can produce a 13 minute epic that builds and builds and not only holds your attention but completely draws you into the music. The final five minutes of the song are just one constant chill and goosebump session. I'm going to see Tool July 30 in Little Rock and I can only hope they do something along these same lines. They probably won't, but even if they produce the exact same show I saw last year it will be worth twice the ticket price.

I really really dig this song. Myu favorite parts are"I feel alive when you touch me,i feel alive when you hold me down" it really shows maynards vocal talent,and right after that the song goes into overdrive,wich to me represents anguish. But im just an idiot,so i wouldnt know anything

Tool did this song here in little Spokane, WA. It was AMAZING. especally being close enough to tool to be able to see the expressions on their faces. It was the best concert ive ever been to.

i love this live version.
like so many people have said, the part at the end where it just breaks out is awe inspiring.
if i had the money to go see them when they came to australia, i would have, but how can a 17 yr old pay for it when u dont have a job!
but back to the point, i lOVE TOOL!!!!
i have all 4 albums, and i have salival(dvd version)
it rox!

This song gets me every time I hear it. The best song I feel they have ever sang. Just Maynards introduction to the song is the beginning of a differant state of reality the song puts you in.
For some reasons, I interprit a lot of tools songs to relationships, not necessarly man and woman, maybe brother and sister and so on...... but this one by far. This song has got me thought a lot in my life.

This person saw the gap in relationship with his lover. He didn’t want to work out the problem right there, or them may end up breaking the relationship off..

“Managed to push myself away
And you as well, my dear
And you, as well
Pushed you away my dear”
Since he wasn’t willing to work it out at that time, he felt he pushed her away, not physically.

He is now looking at the child they had created together. He knows he will ruin the child’s life if the two break it off, but he will not allow a child stand in the way, he looks at the child and sees his own image, who he is now, the child will be later. But who is he to judge it, let the child grow the way it wants to on its own.

Basically they are both pushing each other away, not really putting 100% into the relationship….

He cant take it anymore, he is about to explode he is loosing his mind about now.

He knows this and he is having second thoughts.

He sees the gap again between them both, but he feels great when she touches him and holds him, he is telling her this, but she doesn’t seem to care…

He is going through it all in his head, I feel he is starting from day one and looking at everything and he is done.. He wants to get rid of it all.. and never again be put in that situation again..

He doesn’t feel very important where he is at, that when he is gone, it’s not going to be a big deal…. She holds him from things he truly wants to do and there is no other way to persuade her besides leaving her..

You cannot love and be afraid of the outcome….. He is seeing it all again.. He is going to loose it, he had to remind her he loves her but he is about to explode, not necessarily physically but he is going to chew some ass and degrade her beyond belief, there is no other way to end it, he has no choice..

That was a good interperation toolband26. almost everyting you said was how i interaperated the song as well. this song almost explains me and the first person i ever loved. all except the having a child part. and i must say that this is one of the most beautiful songs i have ever herd.

I fell in love with the original version and satan help me when i heard this version. it is such a beautiful rendition of love gone bad. when i hear this song i think about three friends, a love triangle, and two of them ganging up on the other. That one of the original lovers and the friend are secretly carrying on a relationship. And when the friend realizes that they are coming after him, he has to choose. there IS no love in fear. and when your back is to the wall you will destroy all those who seek to hurt you. a triad of mistrust and confusion. i listened this song everyday for months. i could float away inside of this song for hours.

jeez,toolband26 kinda hits it on the nose, i sorta thought this song was about a relationship and domestic abuse, the pushing and shoving, "no love in fear"-the feeling of loving someone even though they're putting an immense amount of fear on you, the eventual "tear your fucking throat away, it will end no other way" could be him fighting back...but toolband26 proves his/her view very well
I only wish i could've seen them in concet playing this song, im gonna see them for the first time on friday in boston, nice!

i think, that if you have been in a position in a relationship which he is singing about, then this is probably the most powerful song ever.
I have and obviously so have a lot of other people, so the last lines: "there's no love in fear", and "claw your fucking throat away". are a very familiar feeling, espescially when given to you at the end of a 13 minute masterpice of emotions.
this obviously came from the inner depths of their hearts, by just listening to the way they play you can tell that they mean every word and note they play.
Beutiful song.
