It's colder than before
The seasons took all they had come for
Now winter dances here
It seems so fitting don't you think?
To dress the ground in white and grey

It's so quiet I can hear
My thoughts touching every second
That I spent waiting for you
Circumstances affords me
No second chance to tell you
How much I've missed you

My beloved do you know
When the warm wind comes again
Another year will start to pass
And please don't ask me why I'm here
Something deeper brought me
Than a need to remember

We were once young and blessed with wings
No heights could keep us from their reach
No sacred place we did not soar
Still, greater things burned within us
I don't regret the choices that I've made
I know you feel the same

My beloved do you know
How many times I stared at clouds
Thinking that I saw you there
These are feelings that do not pass so easily
I can't forget what we claimed as ours

Moments lost though time remains
I am so proud of what we were
No pain remains, no feeling
Eternity awaits
Grant me wings that I might fly
My restless soul is longing
No pain remains, no feeling
Eternity awaits

My beloved do you know
When the warm wind comes again
Another year will start to pass
And please don't ask me why I'm here
Something deeper brought me
Than a need to remember

My beloved do you know
How many times I stared at clouds
Thinking that I saw you there
These are feelings that do not pass so easily
I can't forget what we claimed as ours

Moments lost though time remains
I am so proud of what we were
No pain remains, no feeling
Eternity awaits
Grant me wings that I might fly
My restless soul is longing
No pain remains, no feeling
Eternity awaits

Moments lost though time remains
I am so proud of what we were
No pain remains, no feeling
Eternity awaits
Grant me wings that I might fly
My restless soul is longing
No pain remains, no feeling
Eternity awaits

Moments lost though time remains
I am so proud of what we were
No pain remains, no feeling
Eternity awaits
Grant me wings that I might fly
My restless soul is longing
No pain remains, no feeling
Eternity awaits

    My Interpretation

Not to be morbid, but I've always honestly thought this song was about, er, 'releasing one's mortal coil'. In the beginning of the song, he speaks about returning to the place where he experienced his relationship with his love. In the middle, he reminisces about his experiences in love, and how it changed him. And at the end, he speaks about the life leaving him as he waits to rejoin his love.

"It seems so fitting don't you think To dress the ground in white and grey." Symbolizing sorrow, death of both him and his love

"Circumstances afford me no second chance to tell you How much I've missed you." Hints that his lover is deceased, or their relationship is unsalvageable

"I can't forget what we claimed as ours." His inability to let go of the past, and the fact that it's dragging him down in the present

"No pain remains, no feeling. Eternity awaits. Grant me wings that I might fly. My restless soul is longing. No pain remains, no feeling. Eternity awaits." Him fading from life and waiting to rejoin his lover, the angelic imagery symbolizing him going into the afterlife

Depressing, but still one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

THis song could obviously be about a lost loved one. But for me it's about himself the person he is now reflecting open who he was . I don't reget the choices i have made I know you feel the same. He knows this b/c it was him

I'm a genocidally bent lyricist, with chaotic intentions when i tend to get pissed off... but this song tends to bring out the softer side when i want to write down an idea. I simply adore the song for it makes me remember past relationships and how they made me feel wanted and useful... though most nowadays blow tremendously.. this song in my mind is very symbolic.

I've always thought of this song as a companion piece to "Forsaken". Whereas in "Forsaken" he is completely enveloped in the sorrow of losing a loved one, this one is written after more time has passed. Rather than dwelling on the pain of his loss, he has the emotional space to be grateful for the time they had together. As he says "no pain remains" - there's no more tears that he needs to cry. Instead, he knows that this person is waiting for him somewhere and they will be together again for all of eternity. This is probably my favorite VNV song.

This is the simply one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever heard. These words aren't simply lyrics, they are poetry, and, as good as the music is, it is merely a complement to them.

I don't think the song necessarily refers to someone who has died, it seems to me it's about a failed relationship. Even though it didn't work out... he's gotten to a point where he can look back at the good times they had together without having to dwell on the pain caused by the breakup of the relationship.

He set off on a winter trip... back to his past home. Lived far away since. An 8 hour drive thinking about who and what he would see when he went back. the first time back in 2 years. Why did he go back no reason that he could come up with, he just had to. He sees a girl, one he loved for 4 years. Spends an hour with her. Wasn't sure what he would feel. But no pain remains no feeling. He feels nothing at all anymore. And onward he moves. It was good, still a waste, but he has no regrets. And he Tells her, how empty his feelings are for her now. And moves on. An eternity awaits, can't waste spend any more time in doubt about that girl.

i have read the lyrics over and over and as much as i agree with what everyone has said on this song, i think it sounds more like a good bye letter. almost like he was on his way home to a person that he loved and died on the trip. or he died and he thinks he is on his way to go meet a long lost love. just my two cents

I agree with bits and pieces of everyones different opinions on what this songs means, as the thing that makes a great lyricist is they are able to write songs that mean many many different things depending on the listener.

Yes, he speaks of a person who is no longer with him, they have died. But people can leave you in many ways even if they still remain alive in this world.

To me, this song is about A loss in life.. of someone dying in your heart and you know you can never have them/that again. He is thinking back to the time they loved and lived together and realizing he can't go back.. there's no "second chance" No chance to make things like they once were.. pure and full of life.

But that doesn't mean he has forgotten and memories keep this alive.. he is coming to terms with the loss as I guess we all must do.. and most of all coming to terms with himself, alone and away from this person.. Eternity Awaits..

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
