Morrissey – This Is Not Your Country Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
We're old news
All's well
Say BBC scum
Everybody's under control
Of our surveillance globes
I feel this is the idea that the media will cover a story until it becomes old news. A child is shot dead somewhere, but that is not today's story and so what does it matter? It is the way that the news will show you one thing they consider important and completely ignore another. |

Sex Pistols – EMI Lyrics

I think that if I remember the er correct info on this one, the thing that made the record label DROP the pistols was that interview where Johnny swore on a daytime tv show. People swear in public but they can't swear on tv, stop the double standards now....... anyway I love the line about the Blinds fools in line....... remember theres a sucker born every minute (PT BARNUM said that) |

Morrissey – Margaret On The Guillotine Lyrics
| 17 years ago
|
“Margaret on the Guillotine,” a Tongue-in-cheek jab at Prime Minister Thatcher. British police responded by searching Morrissey’s home and making him the subject of an official investigation. Many of the officers were said to be embarrassed at the absurdity of the situation, some even asking for Morrissey's autograph. Not to be outdone, Morrissey’s follow-up single included the B-side “Such a Little Thing Makes Such a Big Difference,” whose lyrics end with a caustic “Leave me alone, I was only singing/You have just proved again, most people keep their brains between their legs.” - Wikipedia |

maybe since red is an anrgy colour it's about the anger she has stored up inside of her because of him. Or maybe its about her dreaming that one day she will take action since red is the colour of war. |

P.s, one reviewer once said that the "g" in pearl jam is not "grunge", it's "groove". I have to agree, I never really viewed them as "grunge" anyway (if their is such a thing). |

"i'm not sure what this is about....losing faith in something, i think...but it is the GROOVIEST song ever: just listen to it and groove, especially in the beginning when the ament kicks in...good shiite"
- He IS a brilliant bassist and I've always said this, even with his simple shit like in alive it just seems to fit so perfectly. I think all the members all very much click with each other. |

"" Mother reads aloud, child tries to understand, tries to make her proud." Her mother just blames her daughter's problems on a lack of will when instead it is something she cant help. She tries to please her mother but she cant and she doesnt feel fit to be called her daughter. "
Was wondering, could the dyslexia also affect her reading music? "young girl, violins". |

Spin is an interesting one, because when you first hear it you think it may be about drugs because of the first line"See this needle...a see my hand...
Drop, drop, dropping it down...oh, so gently... ". But once you find out its about vinyl it all makes much more sense. |

Pearl Jam – Indifference Lyrics
|
It's one of their most beautiful songs I think, every record seems to offer at least one new particularly beautiful pearl jam song, the most beautiful imo:
Ten : Black, ocean, release
Vs: Indifference, rearview mirror, daughter
Vitalogy : Better man, nothing man, immortality
No code : Present tense, red mosquito, around the bend
Yield : In hiding, given to fly, wishlist
Binaural : Parting ways, sleight of hand
Riot act : All or none, love boat captain, I am mine, Thumbing my way
Should help any newbies looking for gorgeous pearl jam fans. What does everyone think of riot act? I think its good, but I'm a bit disapointed because I thought binaural was really good (although If I'd heard yield before I might have been disapointed with that). |

The Cure – Boys Don't Cry Lyrics
|
i think some people think oh its so obvious its just about how boys dont cry, but i think its a really ironic song (and yes i know so many of you have figured that out) but i thinks beautiful and hes really saying he did cry about it, I also think theres some straight truth to the line that boys dont cry, as some people see it as a weakness and so he may have felt that he couldnt cry in front of her, because of how people see it as a weakness..... |
