Metallica – Turn the Page (Bob Seger cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
OK, well I am not here to bash Bob Seger, because I like his version... but Metallica's cover is AWESOME! And I honestly don't get why people come on and waste their time just to say something sucks? |
David Gray – Be Mine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Wow! This is a great song! I hate the cosmic sound effects though, it makes it sound cheesy. The lyrics and the chorus are great though. Just makes me happy and I don't think it needs too much explanation of meaning. |
Live – Iris Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I feel like it is about someone who wants to be in a relationship, but is constantly scared of getting hurt. I think about the "armies" as a wall of protection that has been built not letting anyone in. Almost like this person is trying for love (bait you on) but will never get love because the wall is there and will "always hate it", being tied down. And even though he likes the idea of it, there is always something saying no. Perhaps it is just how I interpret the chorus line about the armies... |
The Lads – Alone Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Keep looking, it is on Kazaa. I think this song is just about being very fearful of letting yourself fall in love with someone. The fear of being hurt and letting someone in. |
Patty Griffin – Top of the World Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This song is about a man who dies and he is looking back on his life regretting all the things he did. Basically, wishing he spent more time with his family and hopes he did not ruin his children's lives with his actions--or lack there of. The Dixie Chicks do a good cover and have a cool video, but that is only shown at concerts right now. |
Michelle Branch – Breathe Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This song is amazing...LIVE? SO GOOD! I just love when she belts out... BREATHE. She is so talented. |
The Chicks – Top Of The World Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I agree with the meanings... and totally love this song. Live it is amazing, and I think the video they did for it (shown on the Top of The World Tour) is great. I am kind of infatuated with it and hope it does get on TV. The only part I did not like is when it blends the daughter's face with the old man's... it is kind of scary...lol Anyway, this song is wonderful and the Chick's perform it beautifully. |
t.A.T.u. – All The Things She Said Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Its a cool song. Catchy tune. Although this topic is getting overrun with the kissing in the video, I just need to add... Regardless of their sexuality, the rumor going around the high school I teach at was that they were sisters. At that, I was utterly repulsed by their romantic gestures and caressing; however, now that I know they are not, the kissing is no big deal and who cares what they are so long as it is not incestuous! lol |
Tracy Bonham – Mother Mother Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Oh gosh, this song reminds me SO much of college... This is my fav part... "sure im sober, sure im sane life is perfect never better, still your daughter, still the same. If i tell you what you want to hear, will it help you to sleep well at night? Are you sure that im your perfect dear? now just cuddle up and sleep tight." What they don't know, won't hurt them! |
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – The Ship Song Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I agree with Lady Evelnhair, this is a beautiful song. I love it. I have only heard the version with Concrete Blonde and it is so good. My favorite lines are: Your face has fallen sad now For you know the time is nigh When I must remove your wings And you, you must try to fly It is about letting someone you love go. It may be sad, but it is the right thing to do. Although, I have always wondered why the songs speaks of "removing wings" when it is hard to fly without them? Perhaps that is the irony in it? |
The Tragically Hip – Wheat Kings Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Are you guys Canadian? My buddies who live there swear by these guys and are amazed they are not big here in the States. I know a few of their songs, but I think this one is my fav. Great tune. |
The Verve Pipe – Colorful Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Well, I owe credit to the movie "Rock Star" for introducing me to this song! I had an inclination that was not Mark Whalberg's voice singing this song! The producers picked a perfect song to describe the relationship between Whalberg and Aniston's characters. Basically, I see it as a song about someone who loves another person through all the good and the bad. And this is a "thank you" song from the individual who was being loved so dearly, although he may not have deserved it, through thick and thin... or as this says, colorful and gray. Great song. |
Staind – For You Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Being an adult here, I feel I can say that I totally know what all you kids are saying cause I went through my parent's fucked up divorce and how messed up I always felt. Every Staind song I hear reminds me of how I felt then and it is reassuring to know that I was not alone in feeling that way. I totally wished I had this music then as a resort. To all you people that think these kids have no right to feel their lives are fucked up--tell me what more do they know?? Maybe someday they *will* look back and say, "It wasn't so bad then..." Or, like me, they can say, "Yeah, it was horrible then...but look at what I have done with my life now." For me, my #1 Staind song is Epiphany, that was my life story...but I am not dwelling, just enjoying the music and moving on... |
Garth Brooks – The River Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I used the first stanza as the opening quote to my graduate school application--I think that is what got me in ;) I went to college Pre Med and that was my dream, 4 years later it had changed...and I had to follow where it went... now I teach and don't know if I could ever be happier with a job! |
Staind – Epiphany Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I love this song. It reminds me how I felt when I was 15 years old. Now I am a teacher and know a certain student who this song completly fits too... I love Aaron Lewis! |
Kelly Osbourne – Papa Don't Preach Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I think Kelly does a great cover of this song! She rocked on the VMA's! |
Pearl Jam – Wishlist Lyrics | 22 years ago |
This is a great PJ song. I think the meaning is pretty obvious--about being someone's everything. Since we are sharing fav lines, I would have to go with, "I wish I was the verb 'to trust' and never let you down..." :) |
Jimmy Eat World – The Middle Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Now that I am 25 I can look back at being a teenager--and damn, I wish someone had played me this song! "Its only in your head you feel left out, or looked down on." Awesome song. |
Tonic – You Wanted More Lyrics | 22 years ago |
This song reminds me of my ex-boyfriend. It is a song he would have played for me. A totally good relationship and then he freaked cause I wanted more.... but I know now, it was more than he could give, more than he could handle. The chorus just reminds me of all the bad stuff we had....It was for the best though... A love that wasn't there.... |
David Gray – Shine Lyrics | 22 years ago |
For all that we struggle for all we pretend It don't come down to nothing except love in the end I love this song |
David Gray – Shine Lyrics | 22 years ago |
For all that we struggle for all we pretend It don't come down to nothing except love in the end I love this song |
Remy Zero – Save Me Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I feel this line: "i feel my wings have broken in your hands" Describes a relationship where someone is completely incapacitated by someone else. They no longer want to fly away, but stay with this person forever.. |
Heather Nova – London Rain Lyrics | 22 years ago |
And when somebody knows you well Well, there's no comfort like that And when somebody needs you Well, there's no drug like that I love those lines. Just basically how the people in outr lives are amazing and how we all neeed to be needed.....and want to be wanted..... |
Chantal Kreviazuk – Feels Like Home Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Its about feeling amazingly comfortable and safe with someone you love. A definite wedding song! Just waiting for the boy..... |
Pink – Don't Let Me Get Me Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Everyone I know tells me this song is about suicide. I don't think it is. I think it is about all the struggles of youth. Being a teenager is one of the most difficult parts of your life--and so many can relate cause everyone has been a teenager and messed up more than once! |
Live – Overcome Lyrics | 22 years ago |
This song has taken on a 9.11 theme for me. It totally makes me sad and reminds me of the days just after 9.11. You can download a tribute video that was featured on VH1. Excellent song. your help is here |
No Doubt – Hella Good Lyrics | 22 years ago |
I totally love this song! |
Everclear – Wonderful Lyrics | 22 years ago |
This song is one that is too familiar for any kid that had to suffer through their parent's divorce. I don't think parents quite know how much it affects their kids. But if I could describe for you how my life was from the ages of 12-18 (when I moved out), this would be it. The first half of the song being the younger years and then the..."I just want my life to be the same, just like it used to be Some days I hate everything I hate everything Everyone and everything Please don't tell me everything is wonderful now" Your parents are doing better, and everything is wonderful for them--but too many days I spent hating everyone and everything. |
The Beatles – You've Got to Hide Your Love Away Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Even better as sung by Eddie Vedder. |
Pearl Jam – Jeremy Lyrics | 22 years ago |
Pearl Jam is the best band on earth. This song unfortunatly, illustrates life for thousands of teenagers. Not all of them, thank goodness, act on their rage like Jeremy, but as a 20 something, I hope that when our generation becomes parents they realize the irrelevance of being nothing but money makers. Love your children, pay attention. Know them better than anyone. |
Jewel – Standing Still Lyrics | 22 years ago |
OK, I need the opionion of others on this. My friends think I am crazy, but I think this song is about a girl (or a boy) struggling through that "dating scene" and wondering if everyone passing her by is the one. It is like imagine standing in a crowded bar and you see a cute guy walk by no everything stops around you and all you see is that guy and then running through your head is all those questions, "Do you want me like I want you? Do you need me like I need you? Do you love me like I love you?"..."or are you passing me by..." So is the guy just going to smile and walk by as a "pass up" or stop and potentially be the one to fulfill all your needs?? Jewel rocks. Concert tour required. |
Barenaked Ladies – What A Good Boy Lyrics | 22 years ago |
First of all, what the hell is a hairshirt?? lol This song completely describes my transition from college to the working world. After graduation and spending so many years in a place that often felt more like home to me than my childhood home ever did scared the heck out of me. I knew though it was time to move on with my life, but like this song says--"Afraid of change, afraid of staying the same"-- Welcome to the new world, take a step into it! BNL--especially before they got big via "One Week"--rock!! |
Sarah McLachlan – Elsewhere Lyrics | 22 years ago |
This song completely epitomizes my transition from a quiet, shy, introverted high school student--an adolescence plagued by difficulties at home--to a college student discovering who I really was and the person I could be. This helped me get over my fears and do what was right for me. Ahhh, the trials and tribulations of teenagers...lol "Oh the quiet child awaits the day when she can break free the mold that clings like desperation Mother can't you see I've got to live my life the way I feel is right for me might not be right for you but it's right for me..." This verse says it all, and all of Sarah's music, especially this one, has helped me immensely. She is an incredible singer, song writer, and entertainer. Be sure to catch her in concert around 2003 or thereafter. |
