Eminem – Till I Collapse Lyrics 21 years ago
It's not often in the rap world that you hear a song that is motivational but Eminem certainly manages to put one out in this song. The world is full of weak minded quitters who would just give up at the first sign od trouble.. I think this song is Eminem saying "Fuck that, I'm never going to give up!"

Eminem – Square Dance Lyrics 21 years ago
This is such a quirky song that really shows Eminem's ability to showcase his talent no matter how acstract the beat or song basis. I agree to a point with the person who said that this song was a response to the bush administration and their so-called war on terrorism. The only reason I don't agree wholeheartedly is because I don't think Eminem ever sets out with a straight agenda to any of his songs. I would love to see him write a cd with a straight up political basis to it. Like the person before me said, he has a great influence over the herd of MTV sheep and could probably cause quite a revolution.

Coal – Stay Lyrics 21 years ago
Great song from a great movie.. It really doesn't make any sense when you think of the time it's played in the movie but it seems to mean that the person who is singing is saying that regardless of what's happened they need that person in their life...

System of a Down – Chop Suey! Lyrics 22 years ago
Alright
I realize that this song is quite possibly about the brother who committed suicide. But I'm leaning toward a double-meaning. Part on the guitarist, part on Serj. I'll take it one line at a time, like I usually do.

Wake up,
Grab a brush and put a little (makeup),
Grab a brush and put a little,
Hide the scars to fade away the (shakeup)
Hide the scars to fade away the,
Why'd you leave the keys upon the table?
Here you go create another fable

Meaning: Pretty simple. Wake up as yourself (a rock superstar) and put on the makeup, and by makeup I think he means "Try to cover up your faults" because, as you know, in today's world, you're not allowed to have faults if you're a celebrity. Otherwise the media will attack you and lead you to insanity. "Why'd you leave the keys upon the table?" Just another way to find an excuse to overexploit our media idols. "Create another fable" YOu know how it is. If newspapers and the like can't find something to bitch about, they make it up. Simple as that.

You wanted to,
Grab a brush and put a little makeup,
You wanted to,
Hide the scars to fade away the shakeup,
You wanted to,
Why'd you leave the keys upon the table,
You wanted to,

Meaning: "You wanted to"...I think this means that sometimes the hassle gets to Serj and the guys. Sometimes they don't have time for themselves because everybody demands everything from them.

I don't think you trust,
In, my, self righteous suicide,
I, cry, when angels deserve to die, Die,

Meaning: People don't trust it when superstars put themselves in the line of fire. Whatever happens, if something happens with an idol, they take a lot of heat for it. And the thing is, most people lose faith in rockstars when they want to take the heat because they're suspicious if (God forbid...) someone in a position of popularity will actually ADMIT to doing something. Or for taking the hit for someone else. I think that's what "When angels deserve to die" is about. SoaD and others don't LIKE taking hits for other people when something goes wrong ("I cry") but sometimes they do. "When Angels deserve to die" I think is pointing out that celebs who seem perfect are not, and those who are taking the blame for their mistakes are just sinking deeper and deeper, and nobody shows any respect for them.

Wake up,
Grab a brush and put a little (makeup),
Grab a brush and put a little,
Hide the scars to fade away the (shakeup)
Hide the scars to fade away the,
Why'd you leave the keys upon the table?
Here you go create another fable

Meaning: See above.

You wanted to,
Grab a brush and put a little makeup,
You wanted to,
Hide the scars to fade away the shakeup,
You wanted to,
Why'd you leave the keys upon the table,
You wanted to,

Meaning: See above.

I don't think you trust,
In, my, self righteous suicide,
I, cry, when angels deserve to die
In my, self righteous suicide,
I, cry, when angels deserve to die

Meaning: See above.

Father (father) Brother (Brother)
Father/ Into your hands/I/commend my spirit,
Father, into your hands,

Meaning: Both spiritual and physical, these people who are taking media hits are trusting what happens to them to their father/Father and trusting that everything will be alright with them.

Why have you forsaken me,
In your eyes forsaken me,
In your thoughts forsaken me,
In your heart forsaken, me oh,

Meaning: SoaD could be talking about their actual fathers, and how they've shunned them. If you see something on the news about your sons doing drugs or paying for sex, and you ask them about it and they deny it, while at the same time being American idols...are you going to trust the news or your son? Think about it. Their fathers might have turned their backs on them because they think that everything everyone says about SoaD is true, and SoaD is trying to point out that it's NOT.

Trust in my self righteous suicide,
I, cry, when angels deserve to die,
In my self righteous suicide,
I, cry, when angels deserve to die.

Meaning: Just a reiteration of what I said above.

Anyway, this is what I think. Do with it what you will.

Metallica – The Unforgiven Lyrics 22 years ago
To sound like another mindless internet drone myself...I'll start this off with "I think." I think this...well, I"m really sure this song is about society today. And yes, today is the same (if not worse) than 12 years ago when the album was released. Anyway, I think this song is about society in the manner that nobody is free to be themselves anymore. The only time we are truly individuals are when we rebel. The way the world works, as soon as we are born, we are influenced by those around us to join the conformist, industry-ruled world we live in. Even though it was a comedy, Number 2 in Austin Powers said it best. "There is no world anymore. It's just corporations." And given the lyrics "What I've felt
What I've known
Never shined through in what I've shown
Never free
Never me
So I dub thee unforgiven"
I just find that these enforce my thoughts.
"What I've felt" -- deals with his feelings and emotions
"What I've known" -- Everything that he (and we) know that we aren't allowed by culture to disperse
"Never shine through in what I"ve shown" --We are becoming one big lump of crap...a big mass with no individuality. This means that even though he's a person, it doesn't show, because he's a drone.
"Never free" --Ruled by everything around him
"Never me" --It's not acceptable in today's culture to be yourself. (I say screw this and everyone who enforces it, but that's the way it is)
"So I dub thee unforgiven" --He feels he's unforgiven because he can't find it in him to stand out so much that you'll recognize him in the basic group of lowlifes.
Anyway, this is what I think the song means.
