Propagandhi – Firestorm, My Ass Lyrics 15 years ago
Dear "Drewsus Christ"...I don't even know where to begin.
1) Your post made no sense. It hovered between a stream of consciousness ramble and an eighth grade internet rant.
2) You successfully avoided responding to a musing by erroneously construing a critique into some kind of diss and then went so far as to try your hand at a couple disses yourself.
3) You fail. Crack your head on the concrete and open up your mind.

Common Rider – Midnight Passenger Lyrics 15 years ago
this is mostly (from what i can tell) an homage to some of the great reggae classics throughout the years

"Israelites" by Desmond Dekker
"54-46 (That's My Number)" by Toots and the Maytals
"The Harder they Come" by Jimmy Cliff

there might be more, i just haven't picked up on them

this song is about dissidence, without a doubt.

submissions
NOFX – We Got Two Jealous Agains Lyrics 16 years ago
i'm trying to figure out if that first part is a dig at Youth of Today or if he's saying Youth of Today is good but mixed in with crappy stuff.

submissions
Cheap Sex – Raped by the FCC Lyrics 16 years ago
"Its about how the first amendment sucks realy bad lol."

Quite the contrary, it's saying how our first amendment rights are being choked out by overbearing government. If anything, this song is pro-first amendment. And for that matter, why would any rational dissident be against it?

Hot Snakes – Plenty for All Lyrics 16 years ago
Southern California...let's go! there's room for us all.

best hot snakes song right here. i'm going.

submissions
Pinhead Gunpowder – Letter From An Old Friend Lyrics 16 years ago
wonder who this is about.

submissions
Bomb the Music Industry! – This is A Singalong Lyrics 16 years ago
pretty self-explanatory. diverting our attention from what's important with questioning patriotism, masculinity, and letting the real injustices go unquestioned.

submissions
Teenage Bottlerocket – So Cool Lyrics 16 years ago
so cool.

submissions
Leftover Crack – ...And Out Comes The N-Bomb! Lyrics 16 years ago
i don't know how they jumped to the conclusion that Rancid somehow vicariously condones racism. ever hear Rancid's song "Hooligan" or "Coppers"?

submissions
Modern Life Is War – Martin Atchet Lyrics 16 years ago
this may be the most intense song in history, delivered by the best. Modern Life is War is life.

submissions
Agnostic Front – Public Assistance Lyrics 16 years ago
no comments? this is one of the worst "punk" songs in history. and this coming from someone who is a moderate Agnostic Front fan. yeah Roger Miret is latino, but there are still a lot of people on welfare who are working minimum wage trying to make end's meet.

submissions
Against Me! – Stop! Lyrics 16 years ago
this song is ridiculous.

submissions
Carbon/Silicon – Why Do Men Fight? Lyrics 16 years ago
beautiful song, i love when Leo Williams does vocals.

submissions
Modern Life Is War – John and Jimmy Lyrics 16 years ago
does anyone know what the "234" is referencing? i see there is a 234th signal battalion that includes a good portion of soldiers from marshalltown, but can't be sure that's it.

Modern Life Is War – D.E.A.D.R.A.M.O.N.E.S. Lyrics 16 years ago
I started out like xSHARPx only like this and nothing else by MLIW but after seeing them live I can appreciate all their stuff.

This song is the anthem for the small town iowa punk and his/her "modest impossible dreams"...great line.

submissions
Modern Life Is War – Fuck the Sex Pistols Lyrics 16 years ago
haha. heard this for this first time live when MLIW was playing with Bouncing Souls and Lifetime in NYC. now that i'm reading the lyrics i think it's great. MLIW is such a smart, fiery band, i'm proud they're representing Iowa.

submissions
Lifetime – Airport Monday Morning Lyrics 16 years ago
reminds me of garden state.

submissions
Propagandhi – Firestorm, My Ass Lyrics 16 years ago
meh...propagandhi doesn't do much but steal other people's thunder. i mean, i like them and all, but it seems like it's a lot easier to just make fun of bands trying to inspire than actually do it yourself. propagandhi will take digs at nofx, earth crisis, and rancid, but when will they actually write something that isn't just a passing joke?

submissions
The New Amsterdams – Past the Pines Lyrics 16 years ago
this song is beautiful. reminds me a lot of The Shins' "New Slang".

submissions
The New Amsterdams – Intelligent Design Lyrics 16 years ago
dedicated to the fine state of Kansas in all its backwards glory, i assume

submissions
Lagwagon – I Must Be Hateful Lyrics 16 years ago
possibly lagwagon's best song. notice the jawbreaker references throughout.

submissions
Jawbreaker – The Boat Dreams From The Hill Lyrics 16 years ago
i think this song is an applicable metaphor for anything where you're left feeling somewhat useless. great imagery, definitely one of Jawbreaker's finest.

submissions
Ramallah – Brother Malcolm Lyrics 16 years ago
Malcolm X "By Any Means Necessary"

submissions
Sick Of It All – Call To Arms Lyrics 16 years ago
i think it's a response to FSU and other "crews" that inspire cult-like followings to promote their violence.

submissions
Say Anything – The Writhing South Lyrics 16 years ago
people, people, there's a fucking lyric sheet in the liner notes. no more yammering about what you "think it might be" because that's not up for debate when they're published by the band/label.
i'm more interested in the thoughts behind the song. for instance, who is he hoping to watch writhe?

submissions
A Day at the Fair – Cinderblock Lyrics 16 years ago
this song is fucking brutifal. i can't believe there aren't more posts about it. so fucking intense.

submissions
Shinobu – Not Gonna Happen Lyrics 16 years ago
this song is my fucking anthem and i hate that. such a great song though, too bad more Shinobu songs aren't this good.

submissions
A Wilhelm Scream – Less Bright Eyes, More Deicide Lyrics 16 years ago
pretty good song, the title is derived from Paint it Black's "Less Deicide, More Minor Threat" which I like a little better but still AWS knows what they're doing.

submissions
Paint It Black – Less Deicide, More Minor Threat Lyrics 16 years ago
I'll echo this sentiment.

yet another amazing song by Dead to Me, addressing the culture of privelege and its effects on a stagnating society.

submissions
Dead to Me – Visiting Day Lyrics 17 years ago
it's about doing time in rehab and finding ways to overcome addiction.

submissions
Dead to Me – Don't Lie Lyrics 17 years ago
pretty sure it's just "there's a kid like me" referring to a U.S. soldier caught overseas in the neverending war. anyway, this song is amazing and got me hooked on Dead to Me, one of the most important bands in punk today.
