now that i think about i dont know if anyone has said this because i havent read all the opinions but 1969 was a year for partying so i believe hes saying that in his head he imagines life as a party and he alwys wants to party but he says he needs to lookin his soul probably meaning he needs to think harder about his life, hes saying that he needs to stop partying because its killing him and its making all of his friends and people hate him "if i get to see you again your the only one i know" then the song sounds like an overdose or just like a major night where he trys to overdose and kils himself where it speeds up tempo and goes into this hail of guitar screaing feedbakc and drums. the he says the whoole seed thing which kinda confuses me but i think it means like he dosent know what to do anymore and hes blooming into more of a man because hes realizing its not going good for him and hes just going downhill and he is confused on whether or not he should do it or not.... thats what i think |

This is the greatest song ever made... for the beatles, it is so briliantly put together i mean they sped up violins and cello's in the backround and distorted and played guitars backwards. its amazing but the song itself is about meditating and the tao rituals to achive benvolence... and maybe some acid, but i think im gonna go drop lsd and listen to it, and float down stream... |

one thing about this song is maybe it is a painting that his son made, but jon did do lsd and this song is very LSD sounding its up there with tommorrow never knows, the picture didnt show girls with kaleidoscope eyes or tangerine trees and dripping past flowers so eiether hes got one hell of an imagination or he was trippin. this song is so incredible, everytime i listen to it i feel like im part of the song, i feel like i was lifted off the ground when i close my eyes, if you really listen tool can put incredible mental images into your head. The song starts in a rock sort of way then leads into the sound of tribal drums echoing over incredibly deep lyrics. it leads into a melodic chours where the voice sounds like a god or priest talking. then goes into a stop phase where there is silence except for bass and off beat druming that some how work. Its nearly mezmorizing. Then comes the last part where the guitar rings high and Adam Jones just wails on it and the stop and go music with a touch of droning sound effects and semi high pichted scream sound is amazing. like an enhanced and very different version of brain damage by pink floyd. |

This song to me is maynard talking about how he has come to close to wanting to know what death is like. And that he has had to have lots doubts and reflection over death. and he hopes he hasent gone to far into the state where he dosent belive in god and hes contradicting himself and hoping that if a god or god (the light passing over him as in the song) will pull him out of this state and still except him into a higher level of life which is heaven. thast my opinion anyway, tool fucking rules. |
