Danzig – Devil's Plaything Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I just started listening to Danzig, and I don't know if it's just me, but he sounds a hell of a lot like Jim Morrison in more than just several songs. I like his songs and lyrics. I agree with the thwarted love aspect, though. |
Danzig – Snakes Of Christ Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I can't listen to this song without hearing Scott Weiland singing "I am, I am, I am/ I said I wanna get next to you/ I said I wanna get close to you/ you wouldn't want me have to hurt you too... Other than that it's a good song. I agree with damien, though. It seems to be all about the lie that religion is and how nobody really knows for sure what it's from. Think about it. All the original scrolls were lost for hundreds of years before they were found and rewritten into the bible. Who's to say people haven't added to or taken from in those intervening years. Religion is shit. |
Danzig – Anything Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is a damned good song. I always figured it was about selling your soul, but it also makes a damned good love song. Danzig's one talented crazy fuck. |
Danzig – Twist of Cain Lyrics | 19 years ago |
sorry. I was feening. Get a bit pissed and jumpy. |
Danzig – Twist of Cain Lyrics | 19 years ago |
For fucks sake Telos! Have you ever done cocaine... actually, have you ever had a nosebleed? When a person has a nose bleed from cocaine or anything else the blood usually flows from NOSTRILS not the FOREHEAD. Study a bit of anatomy before you post such things, imbecile. I don't disagree, but damn, what an idiot. I believe it to be like 808renegade808 said it to be. Danzig leaves his lyrics open. But not open for dumbasses to assume cocaine will make you bleed from your forehead. I don't know where your nostrils are, but mine point in a more downward position. If you are handicapped and your nose is in your hair (which would make nose bleeds run down your forehead), then I am sorry, maybe this song is all about how you tried cocaine once... I don't typically go off on people, but stupid people get to me sometimes. |
The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Spanish Castle Magic Lyrics | 19 years ago |
keep in mind the effects of acid trips can last up to two days \"It\'s very far away It takes about a half and a day to get there\" could refer to the duration of the trip. Then the whole verse about \"The clouds are really low And they overflow with cotton candy And battle grounds red and brown But it\'s all in your mind Don\'t think your time on bad things Just float your little mind around Look out ! Ow !\" He\'s just describing a bit of a trip from before, and the battle grounds red and brown may just be part of that trip that turned bad for a moment because through the song he tells her not to worry and that everything\'s gonna be alright, and don\'t think your time on bad things. When he says \"get on top, really groove me baby...\" he could very well be talking about sex with his girl while tripping... it really does enhance the experience. I hope nobody dares to say Hendrix wouldn\'t do acid. That would just be insane. |
Pink Floyd – Goodbye Cruel World Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The first few entries are hillarious. "Not a suicide" "It's only him giving in"... It is only him giving up and hiding behind a wall... but what do you think suicide is? It isn't somebody just saying "Hey, today's a beautiful day to die, isn't it?" Suicide is somebody "finally giving in (and up)" to dispair. Suicide is hiding behind a wall there's no re-entrance from. I think the closest people were Mahakala and Criticq. If you've seen the movie, you've also seen a few things that WOULD point to it being a suicide note. Remember it doesn't have to be successful to be an attempted suicide. First and most obviously is "Pink" floating face down in pool with blood on the water. And also the fact that his character HAD just given in completely and would have offed himself if the manager hadn't come in and forced him back on stage. Yeah, yeah suicide is bad and Pink Floyd is good and only true fans would see it's not a suicide note... and all that other b/s. Realistically if you look at the bands reaction to this album and take into account that Waters was pretty much bottomed out then you'd see it probably was a suicide note... But just a note. Some people's morals get in the way before they can finish the act. Also think about the idea that this was one of the most heart-felt albums by Pink Floyd. Roger Waters put his soul into these songs. According to him he was "faced with a decision" and "The Wall was the picture I drew for myself to help me make that choice." |
Marilyn Manson – Cryptorchid Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Actually, omikronmu is right. Cryptorchid is one afflicted with cryptorchidism which is a genetic defect (mainly in dogs) that keeps the testicles from "dropping" which means, they can't have kids. It leaves them sterile. Perhaps Marilyn Manson is refering to a feeling of impotence... Feeling like you can't do anything about a certain situation. Could also refer to the difficulties of coming of age. I don't know... just my two cents. |
Nine Inch Nails – The Downward Spiral Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I have to agree with illusorycorelation. Through a more philosophical mindset he may have become all the more mature and serious, thus pushing away his own friends. Also about him not wanting to drag others into his life, it could be that when he saw that ignorance is bliss. He may have discovered a truth in himself (for which he would be proud), but it did not lead to happiness. He saw that you must choose one or the other. He didn't want to share his ideas, perhaps, because he felt it an obligation to society to allow them to remain happy, if ignorant. Perhaps the suicide was just out of the sheer frustration of it all. But I do like the idea of him being a "thinker" rather than just some guy who goes mad. |
Stone Temple Pilots – Lounge Fly Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I know I'm probably a sick bastard but I've always thought this song is about a guy who raped and killed some girl. The interpretation I give is in the order of the song and this way it seems all out of whack, but it also seems to go along with the killers mind after the incident... "It's ok, it's ok, ok relieve me pins in me, pins in me, in me you kill me " It's like he feels remourse after it's all over... the memories keep pricking him and it is slowly eating away at him. "the lounge fly the lounge fly the fly you bring me I think I'm free but the dogs they won't release me " sounds like he may have been hiding close by to see what the police would find, but he gets scared that the police dogs will find him out. "I can't give what I take away and the other understands" He seems to be talking about life. He can take her life, but he can't give it to her. And she knows he wants to kill her. "she said she'd be my woman she said she'd be my man" It's like she was offering him anything (sexually) if he just wouldn't kill her. "I can't live this way please refill my soul" Again with the remourse "Don't have a nickel or a dollar but you feed me" As I've said, the guy is probably really depressed and full of remourse. One of the most common "side effects" of depression is loss of appetite. He can't seem to eat because of the thought of her. "my bottle's empty but you always refuel me I feel I'm sinking but you won't let me drown me" It sounds like he's trying to drown out the memories with booze, but no matter what she keeps coming back to his mind. "I wanna fuck, wanna fuck but do you need me?" This line just seems to go back to the initial act of rape... it's like it keeps replaying in his mind as he's trying to drink it all away. I may be wrong, but I believe Scott Weiland may have seen an article and just projected himself into the killers mind. Scott is a friggin genius. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – To Forgive Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I pretty much agree with Renzoku. This is a great song and the lyrics are pretty straight forward. I think, though, that when he sings "I forget to forget/nothing is important" he's means that he takes things too seriously sometimes. He feels he should just laugh some things off, but he can't seem to sometimes. I also feel it's about change. Perhaps the loss of a relationship because things just got too messed up over time; hence the lines "I forget about where it all began" and "right as rain I'm not the same but I feel the same I feel nothing" the last part of that line about feeling nothing may show that he doesn't know what to do in the situation... Should he try to mend the relationship or just let it go. After all "nothing is important" the whole childhood memories thing in the song may represent the fact that he feels he's matured a lot since the start of the relationship. Like he knew it would one day fall apart, but he just kept going along because he didn't want it to. I may be way off, but that's what it means to me. |
Radiohead – Creep Lyrics | 21 years ago |
God, it's amazing how many people write about how superficial this song is as though that's not obvious. (you know who you are) you need to get some prozac and stop thinking your special. I don't want to start a fight or anything, but seriously, the superficial undertones of this song, and how he wants to change himself are the best part. Another similar song is "True Love Waits" the first line is "I'd sell my beliefs to have you be at peace" It's as though Thom doesn't give a damn about being deep when he's in love... he's just honest. You can read debth into any song imaginable... hell you can give "Loser" by Beck a whole new level of debth if you thought hard enough, but Beck didn't want to be deep on that song, just as Radiohead may possibly have not wanted to be deep with this one. They were merely trying to catch the publics eye with their first album. It's a business. You have to find the right package to sell in order to seep into the minds of the masses. And you have to sell to the masses if you want to keep making music for a living. I don't care what music you listen to... if they have made it, it is usually with this type of mindset. Every businessman, and most artists don't mind stooping a bit at times. Creep is such a good song because it is honest, not deep. |
Red Hot Chili Peppers – This Velvet Glove Lyrics | 21 years ago |
suckmykiss, you've got a good point, and the line "its such a waste to be wasted in the first place" would go along perfectly. But that's not how I originally saw the song (and still do, really) I see it as being about a love he could have had, but didn't take the chance. Again the line "such a waste to be wasted in the first place" could go along with a wasted chance to tell his feelings. I guess the major reason I feel it's about love, though, is the line last line "long to be with someone to tell i love your smell" and the line about sitting by the phone could be about him sitting by the phone thinking of calling her, but he doesn't... another possability is that he was on drugs, and he was too zoned out to call her and that's where the reference to John and being wasted as being a waste come from... oh well, I should really stop now. I have had the line: "I care for you I really do, i really do" stuck in my head all day. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Bullet with Butterfly Wings Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Somebody asked earlier about the line "guess i'll show my cool and cold like ole job" Job was a dude in the bible that God took everything from. Killed his family, took his animals, his house... everything, but Job remained loyal and actually basically thanked god for it. He remained calm and cool. Also, the lines "Jesus was an only son... and i still believe that I cannot be saved" may refer to his fall from Christianity. Perhaps he wanted to believe, but he had too many doubts and he knew that due to his doubts, he could not be saved. (christianity is salvation by faith, no room for doubt) I feel that in this song Billy is sort of comparing himself to Job, as somebody mentioned earlier, his mental health was on the decline, the band was messing with drugs... etc... He may have felt that this was God taking it all away, and he admits that though he has doubts, he knows he'll just try to play it off that nothing's happening, sorry for the lengthy comment. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Here Is No Why Lyrics | 21 years ago |
xspankfrisst, I agree with you about the predictability of teen machines. I'll be the first to proudly admit I was a teen machine, but at least my gears got stuck and I never moved out of the 90's. I left my teens and mind there. Songs like "Here Is No Why" have so much truth in their lyrics that it's almost painful to listen to, but you still want to, like rubbing your tongue on a broken tooth. At least this is more beautiful than the mind numbing pain of exposed nerve endings. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – An Ode to No One (Fuck You) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Can't believe I haven't commented yet. Yeah, I can connect with this song... you've put so much into a friendship/relationship and they betray you. At least that's what it feels like for me. |
Filter – Hey Man, Nice Shot Lyrics | 21 years ago |
After reading the reviews, I downloaded that vidoe... my god, that man had guts. I've always liked this song, though unsure of the meaning, I too used to think it was about Cobain, but I read somewhere it wasn't, besides everybody is entitled to their own opinions whether they are right or wrong is another matter, that doesn't matter. More importantly, the video of R. Budd Dwyer is sick and goes along with this song... "Hey man, have fun... nice shot man" P.S. the bass line is especially good. |
Radiohead – You Lyrics | 21 years ago |
can't find the way to correct lyrics, so here's the real ones. You are the sun and moon and stars, are you And I could never run away from you You try at working out chaotic things And why should I believe myself, not you? It's like the world is going to end so soon And why should I believe myself? You, me and everything caught in the fire I can see me drowning, caught in the fire if you don't believe me, check out the lyrics link at followmearound.com |

If you guys want a head trip, check out the video. It's friggin awesome. a lab... singing chimps... a great song... what more could you want? |
Radiohead – True Love Waits Lyrics | 21 years ago |
p.s. You gotta love the ending... Just lonely... it almost seems as though he's been sitting on the sidelines waiting for that girl, all along he's been too shy or afraid to say anything to her so he excuses himself by thinking that "True love lives on lollipops and crisps" (and given the newspaper clipping about the little boy) he could mean that love can live on bare essentials. Essentials such as thinking of her tiny hands... [imagining] her crazy kiss and her smile... those little bits of longing that he points to... damn... makes me realize how stupidly shy I am. Beautiful song. |
Radiohead – True Love Waits Lyrics | 21 years ago |
hey optimistic, if you wanna hear Thom speak, check out the "Meeting People Is Easy" movie. It's all about Radiohead up to the OK Computer era and how they dealt with the sudden surge of publicity. It's a definate for all radiohead fans. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – My Blue Heaven Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This is a cover of a standard by George Whitling-Walter Donaldson from 1927... just a great little love song where everything is perfect. |
Radiohead – Where I End and You Begin. (The Sky Is Falling In.) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Radiohead does sort of force you into Thom's view, but that's also what makes them great. I rather enjoy being down. |
Radiohead – We Suck Young Blood. (Your Time Is Up.) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
um... yeah... thanks for the idea Jove. |
Zwan – Chicks Just Get In The Way Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Is billy coming out of the closet? btw lil shell, he wants you to shave his moustache and he'll shave YOUR ass. most guys have a hairy ass, that's how I see the song. One big "I"M GAY/BI" banner. |
Radiohead – We Suck Young Blood. (Your Time Is Up.) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Jove makes me wish I weren't circumsized. About the song, though.. It's great, I like the claps. Radiohead's newer stuff sort of grows on me like mold, so I'll have to listen to it more to become properly infected. |
Radiohead – Follow Me Around Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Ewe doont spelle korektly eether |
Beck – The Golden Age Lyrics | 21 years ago |
They dont... But this song is so powerful... I've said it for all the songs on this album, and that's because I listen to albums as a whole... This was a perfect way to start Sea Change. Sort of set the mood for the album. This album is Beck's finest so far, in my opinion. It almost brings a tear to my eye. |
Beck – Lost Cause Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I agree with Cranberried... This song is so slow and beautiful... I've always liked Beck, but he really seems to be bearing his soul on this album. Definately about heart ache. |
Beck – Where It's At Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Dude, his newer stuff like Seachange is good, just more mellow... Beck is so awesome because of his versatality. I wish they had some Seachange on here to comment about. This song has always been one of my favourite songs, though... I love the lyics... I especially liked the video. |
Radiohead – Banana Co. Lyrics | 21 years ago |
It reminds me of the banana republic clothing... I don't know why... I vaguely remember it from the 80's, I don't even know if it's still around... but the song is beautiful. Maybe he misses his favourite shirt. |
Pixies – Monkey Gone to Heaven Lyrics | 21 years ago |
an appearance of god on this CD??? Did they acknoledge God as a collaberator on this album? If not there could be some big trouble. God knows some influential people and The Pixies could wind up in a little bit of a mess. |
Bloodhound Gang – Fire Water Burn Lyrics | 21 years ago |
also gotta love the pixies reference... if man is 5 and the devil is 6... comes from this monkey's gone to heaven by The Pixies. Also love this video, where they play in the old peoples home. Nice touch in the end when you find it was a home for the deaf and elderly... |
Pixies – Velouria Lyrics | 21 years ago |
This weezer business is all well and good, but what does this song mean? I know it doesn't mean that weezer is a rip off... or you would have went straight to "I Bleed" and "Where's My Mind" to comment. |
Weezer – Falling For You Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Good that you see the parallel with madame butterfly, I suggest you read more about the opera and listen to it... very beautiful story there. Especially when she sends for Pinkerton, blindfolds their son and gives him an american flag to play with. She then goes behind a curtain and pulls out a dagger that has an inscription on the handle reading, "Better to die with honor than live with dishonor" and disembowels herself. Pinkerton walks through the door to find a dead Cio Cio San (madame butterfly) and his blindfolded son playing with the flag. Heh heh.. gave away the ending, but the lead up is the best part. |
The Velvet Underground – Heroin Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I don't think this song is about pulling the plug on a friend who made his choice. It's about making a choice. And the choice is for each person to make. If you ask me it sounds like Lou Reed thoroughly enjoyed the conflicting emotions of heroin, and the rush it gave him. But he's smart enough to know where it leads. The song ((to me)) is about how great this drug can be. But he to reminds us that it can kill... "Heroin, be the death of me" It is a beautiful honest song, through the metaphors in the lyrics Lou has tried* to give us a feel of what it feels like to do heroin and when mixed with the music I think they accomplished that as far as you can through a song. mleurck, sorry about your friend, but he made a choice. "And thank your god that i'm as good as dead" |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Ugly Lyrics | 21 years ago |
To me its all about being depressed. He talks throughout the verses about not liking himself, rotting away, not being able to be what 'you' need but in the corus he sings "i'm good enough, but I don't care" it's like he knows he can be what 'you' need, but he doesn't have the motivation or will to put the energy into it. In the part... "and i rot in my skin as a piece of me dies everyday I know i'm nothing I know there's nothing i can say to change, the judgement in their ways..." is all about just sitting around doing nothing (rotting in his skin from lack of movement) because he knows feels he can't convince somebody else that he's good enough. Then like I've said... he believes that he is good enough... Maybe he just needed to take his meds that morning. beautifull song, though.. Wonderful music as well. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Believe Lyrics | 21 years ago |
James Iha proves he's a great songwriter yet again with this song. To me the line "there's a life i hide but try to disguise" is about not being who you really are for the person you're after, but being what you think they'd want instead. It's like he's coming to a realization that it won't work especially in the part where he sings... "I want to believe in you and I heard you your song you sing a truth is no other I want to believe in you, dear... of someday on sunday i make amends for all my mistakes may godspeed be with you" down to the "godspeed be with you" part it sort of sounds like he's bidding his love farewell. but all of this is just my humble opinion. Beautiful song. |
Stone Temple Pilots – Plush Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Poetry does not necessarily have to have symbolism. But I do agree that that sounds good, sergeant. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Because You Are Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I rather like this song. To me it's about how he refuses to leave a situation just because of another person... sort of sticking it through to spite them. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Eye Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Punkie, in reference to the naming of Corgan's songs... "Say you write a song about a chandelier, and the chandelier gives off light. And the light is the color red and red reminds you of the color your not supposed to wear around a bull. So you name the song 'Cow.' " - Billy Corgan as you see, he doesn't usually just take a word from the song and put it in the name's place. Sorry. |
Stone Temple Pilots – Creep Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I think it's about lack of motivation. Half the man I used to be refering to himself artisticly... We all hit slumps, and it always feels rotten... dreary... just as he says "All's I gots is time/Got no meaning, just a rhyme". I think that all the rambling unconnected rhymes are to give a feel of unmotivated crap that he's living with, to sort of put you in his shoes... but that's just my opinion. Take it easy, and to each his own interpretation. |
Stone Temple Pilots – Plush Lyrics | 21 years ago |
An obsessive partner can basically be like a rapist in a lot of ways. Using intimidation rather than love to keep the relationship together, for starters. Perhaps the invasion of the partner's privacy and all that left him feeling guilty "will she smell alone" and the idea that she might be innocent made him feel even more like some sort of *rapist* or something. Of coure by using like/and I have turned Mr. Weiland's metaphor into a simalie, but I hope you understand what I was trying to say. :S have a good day. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – God Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Blaspheme and confession in the same song... doesn't get much better. Great song... "When the darkness comes to me And fixes it's gaze on me God knows i'm helpless" So true... we're all weak. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – The Bells Lyrics | 21 years ago |
The musical composition on this song is really good. Lyrically.. I'd say he's in love... it's another one written by James Iha. I think he has a really nice voice. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Cherry Lyrics | 21 years ago |
The guitar in this song haunts me through the day... it's so beautiful... the lyrics are wonderful as always. I can't stop to interpret this song... it just seems to wash over me. |
Radiohead – Polyethylene (Parts 1 & 2) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
I just love the flow of it all... Leukemia schizophrenia polyethylene... it's just beautiful. The guitar and drums and bass... all of it... Colin's the best bassist ever. |
Radiohead – Knives Out Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Maybe it's about a cannibal who was breaking up with his girlfriend... anyway, it's a beautiful song. |
