the title and last line pose and interesting question -- is that asking too much? while her lyrics are bold, specific, and truthful, i think that it can apply to us all in each of our individual circumstances. is it really too much to ask for someone who is an equal partner, who gives as well as recieves, who treats you as well as you treat them? humanity has spent so much time being desensitized and dehumanized, i think it's time we all start demanding a little more from eachother. it's like another of her lyrics states "we owe eachother the world" -- let's take a second, acknowledge that we are all essentially the same and are trudging through the same life, so why not pause for a second and share some love and respect. fuck yeah ani d! |

ok, so maybe a random question and i am in no way trying to be stereotypical or ignorant or whatever, but is he gay? or is he speaking from a female's perspective to a guy? or, even still, a general, genderless "he" type thing? just wondering, and please, no passive agressive insults, please.... ; ) oh yeah, this song is really great -- current song of my life for sure. |

i heard this song live in april of 2002 -- it was f***ing amazing. SHE is amazing! i fully agree with the statement: although things aren't perfect and maybe you don't always treat me like a queen, i'm stronger than that and anyway, i'm just out for a little bit of fun!!! such a great song! |

i love the fact that he acknowledges the fact that forever is sort of an abstract idea that no one can really grasp. in reality, when does something really last forever? it seems the last thing that anyone can accurately describe, let alone predict or create. i agree with trauma -- best line for sure. life is so fragile and sooo temporary that "forever" really isn't applicable to anything, save perhaps the idea of love, which i think is a point he makes. rad song.... |
