Whoever it is that can take credit for writing the lyrics of this song has apparently gone through a very similar situation as I am. I first heard this song just before my now ex and I started really going down hill and I thought it was just a catchy song that sounded good. Little did I know it was about to be my reality.
Every line and every word pinpoints how I feel and what I am going through.. except for the finding a guy that would put her first.. I put her first too. It's unfortunate how scarily accurate to my situation this is. Good job to the group for a good song. |

I just watched the third movie in the Hannibal Lector trilogy and at the end, Hannibal says "Our scars remind us that the past is real". This movie came out in 2002 whereas this song came out in 2004..
Maybe it's coincidence.. but then again, perhaps Coby Dick ripped off the movie by taking that line from it and creating a song based off of it..

To me, this song illustrates the predicament where a guy is never himself around a particular girl and then the girl falls in love with this "alter-ego" of his.. leaving him thinking that she loves him but yet she doesn't really know who he is. He lives "two lives", the one when he's not with her and the one when he is with her. He wants the continue the charade but doesn't want to cause anymore pain than he may have already inflicted.
