The Beatles – I Am the Walrus Lyrics 22 years ago
The story I heard about this song was that it was written at a time when people were over-analysing The Beatles songs looking for hidden meanings. To make up an imaginary egsample: "When John says 'I wnt to hold your hand', what is he really saying about the socio-economic impact on south-east asia as a progressive result of amazonian logging?" when what he actually means is "I want to hold your hand." So john wrote this one which makes no sense whatsoever and said to Paul: "There you go. Lets see the fuckers try to work this one out."

The Smashing Pumpkins – Bullet with Butterfly Wings Lyrics 22 years ago
The world is relentless. We're all trapped in it. There's no way to escape. After all. life is a terminal disease. No one can survive it for long. Our life flashes before our eyes in the moments before death, and it's called living. Despite the strength of our emotions, love, hate, anger, we can't really achieve anything permanent except our own destruction.
I hadn't really considered the POW angle before, but I think this song relates to their survival of the horrifying conditions, and having the pride to keep on going, day after day, as they say: "Can you fake it, for just one more show." Hide the pain, and fuck them all. Sometimes all that sustains us is our hate.

Pearl Jam – Black Lyrics 22 years ago
This is such a beautiful song. A lover lost, and the one left behind feels as though their fragile soul is shattered. Torment knowing that you had something exquisitely beautiful, and now it is gone. Someone else will enjoy its purity. There is so much loss. Grief is the price we pay for love.

Don Huonot – Hyvää yötä ja huomenta Lyrics 22 years ago
Ihana! Olen yli vaihto oppilan Suomessa Australiasta, ja mina paljon rakastaa Don Huonot. Okay enhlish now. I was amazed that I could find lyrics to Don Huonot songs here. I just looked up the band as a chance to find them. I have a cassette that is almost worn out with their music on it. I have spent almost 3 years (since I got back from Suomi) trying to find the proper lyrics, since I have a sneaking suspicion that what I was singing weren't even real words (in finnish or English) let alone accurate lyrics.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Under the Bridge Lyrics 22 years ago
I heard the same thing as complete loner. That this is about Anthony's drug addiction and the hell he went through as a result of it. This song always makes me cry. I was an exchange student for a year in Finland, on the opposite side of the world from my family in Australia. Every time I listened to "I don't ever wnt to feel like I did that day," I would start thinking about all the shit things that had happened in my life, like my mother getting cancer, my homesickness, the guy I loved breaking up with me , my host mother's mistrust, my inability to speak the language, my suicide attempt and the hellish night I was assaulted. But then I would also hear "Take me to the place I love, take me all the way." and start thinking about all the incredible things in my life, like my family, my infinitely beautiful friends, my dog, my family my home, my incredible oppourtunities, my beautiful life and the incredible thrill of living andthe wonderful things I was exploring, and the good always far outweighed the bad. I was able to live through and vent all of my emotions and come out the other end feeling wonderful. And it still works.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Soul to Squeeze Lyrics 22 years ago
This is my absolute favourite song. It holds real meaning for me. I had a siezure last year and for a while I was living with the possibility that it might have been caused by a brain tumour - thank god it turned out to be something manageable (epilepsy). I think this is a beautiful song. I thought it was about depression and feeling like you were worthless and that life was wasted on you, because no one ever showed you how special and infinitely beautiful you are, and then love came and the world became a place of exploration, and something you could contribute to because someone believed you have something special to offer. AntipsychoStar's interpretation also makes a lot of sense though.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Fight Like a Brave Lyrics 22 years ago
I agree. Don't fight because someone tells you that what you are fighting against is wrong, or fearful, fight because you believe in your cause. Why were US and ANZAC troops sent to Vietnam? Because "Communism is bad" My mother was told by the nuns at her school to behave and say her prayers, or "The Communists will come and get you" Of course there were more issues and reasons behind it than that, but for a lot of people, that was the extent of their understanding.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Easily Lyrics 22 years ago
I agree. War is supposedly fought to protect our families and our freedom. Does anyone else spot the irony of young men and women - brothers, sons, sisters and daughters - being drafted or conscripted (read, forced) to fight for their lives? At least there is some reasonable logic and order in nature ie, in a wolf pack, the laws of gravity and physics.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Californication Lyrics 22 years ago
To clarify, Alderaan is the name of a planet in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Remember the one that got blown up by the Death Star? I think it was where Leia was brought up. And yes, I agree with everyone else on the meaning ofthe song, the Peppers are telling everyone what hollywood is really like, and that despite the expensive special effects, ie.plastic surgery and Space: The Final Frontier, all the fascinating beauty is just cosmetic, covering up the greed, vanity, drug lust and hunger for power.
