Martika – Toy Soldiers Lyrics 19 years ago
Toy soldiers can't think- they just do whatever you make them do. A lot of people start doing drugs bec everyone else is doing it, they're not really thinking... The rest is pretty self explanatory

Kansas – Dust In The Wind Lyrics 19 years ago
I think this song is definitely spiritual- all we are is dust in the wind, that is our bodies. Man was created from earth and when he dies his body returns to the earth (and as it decays it becomes part of the earth..). However, our souls can live on forever.

"I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's gone
All my dreams, pass before my eyes, a curiosity"

This can either be talking about how short life is- like the blink of an eye. Or about when a person is dying- his whole life passes before him- he closes his eyes for a minute and remembers his life and then when he opens them hes back in his hospital bed or wherever- and realizes his life went by so fast. He thinks of all his life's dreams and what he's accomplished.

"Dust in the wind, all they are is dust in the wind. "

As I said before this is about our bodies. However at the same time, this can be referring to our lifes dreams and memories.

"Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do, crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see"

Looking back on life, one might think he was just another person and that nothing he did really mattered. Same old song- everyday was the same, he did nothing majorly accomplishing in his life. Just a drop of water... hes just another person in this huge world. All we do crumbles... eventually most people are forgotten and things they do don't really matter.
However, on the flipside, this line has a more optmistic meaning- a drop of water in the sea - when a drop falls into the water there are ripples that go on forever- one may think that his life's achievements don't mean much, but you have no idea how much everything you do affects other people and you may have changed someone's life.

"[Now] Don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away, and all your money won't another minute buy. "

Don't waste your life worrying about material things, and don't spend your whole life trying to make more and more money, while forgetting about more important things like family and friends and being a good and honest person. Because at the end- it all slips away... and your money won't help you after death.

Kansas – Carry on Wayward Son Lyrics 19 years ago
This is a little different than what everyone else has been say- but i first heard this song when I was going through a very emotionally trying adolescent stage. I see this song about a teenager who feels so much turmoil inside, but tries hide it.

"Carry on my wayward son,
They'll be peace when you are done.
Lay your weary head to rest,
Don't you cry no more " -

the son is the teenager, who is wayward- either he is rebelling or just feels mixed up inside- the chorus is telling him to carry on bec at the end there will be peace- once he grows out of that stage he will be in better control of his feelings and feel at peace.

"Once I rose above the noise and confusion,
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illussion.
I was soring ever higher,
But I flew too high. "

He tries to get out of his confusing feelings to see if he could see the world normally and live happily as it seems everyone else is doing. But he flew too high- he started thinking too much thus pushing him back into his depression and turmoil.

"Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man.
Though my mind could think I still was a mad man.
I hear the voices when I'm dreaming,
I can hear them say... "

He can see and think and seems normal but inside he is a "mad man".

"Masquerading as a man with a reason,
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man, well
It surely means that I don't know "

He tries to be all cool and confident and is really popular- no one knows how he is feeling inside. If he acts so wise like he knows everything- a lot of teenagers think they know everything- but they really dont and are very inexperienced with life.

"On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about I'm like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune
But I hear the voices say... "

This can either just be simply about the way hes feeling- confused and tossed around - or maybe "I set a course for winds of fortune"- he thought that by acting a certain way and all cool he would be happy but really he just keeps getting more miserable. Maybe hes involved with the wrong crowd, maybe hes into drugs.

"Carrry on, you will always remember
Carry on, nothing equals the splendor
Now your life's no longer empty
Surely heaven waits for you. "

Talking about when he outgrows this stage- "nothing equals the splendor"- of being in your 20's and in control of your life- it feels like you have the whole world ahead of you- "surely heaven waits for you"

This is an awesome song. Obviously not at all famous now, but it really should be. I always loved this song even before I realized what it was about. Again, they should definitely start playing this on the radio.

Westlife if definitely one of the best boy bands. It's odd that they are so big in Europe and not here in the States.

Oasis – Champagne Supernova Lyrics 22 years ago
Actually, Noel Gallagher himself writes on the Oasis site what this song is all about- Oasisinet.com: (basically it's about nothing...)

Champagne Supernova
"Some of the lyrics were written when I was out of it. There's the words: 'Someday you will find me/ Caught beneath a landslide/ ln a Champagne Supernova in the sky'. That's probably as psychedelic as I'll ever get. It means different things when I'm in different moods. When I'm in a bad mood being caught beneath a landslide is like being suffocated. The song is a bit of an epic. It's about when you're young and you see people in groups and you think about what they did for you and they did nothing. As a kid, you always believed the Sex Pistols were going to conquer the world and kill everybody in the process. Bands like The Clash just petered out. Punk rock was supposed to be the revolution but what did it do? F all. The Manchester thing was going to be the greatest movement on earth but it was f all. When we started we decided we weren't going to do anything for anybody, we Jut thought we'd leave a bunch of great songs. But some of the words are about nothing. One is about Bracket The Butler who used to be on Camberwick Green, or Chipley or Trumpton or something. He used to take about 20 minutes to go down the hall. And then I couldn't think of anything that rhymed with 'hall' apart from 'cannonball'. so I wrote 'Slowly walking down the hall/ Faster than a cannonball' and people were like, 'Wow, f , man'. There's also the line 'Where were you while we were getting high?' because that's what we always say to each other. But the number of people who've started clubs called Champagne Supernova is f ing unbelievable. And the album isn't even released yet."
