Great catchy, straight-forward song, if only Apollonia's horrendous vocals didn't mar it up. Of course, now the song's so retro-80's her vocals almost sound quaint. |

This is when Prince *really* started using the symbols in place of words, hence the "eye"s for the I's, etc. Great song about God and self-awareness, but also very danceable. |

This is probably my favorite Prince song. I don't know why. It's a pretty straight forward song about the slightly obsessed longing for someone you had before who doesn't want to see you again (or with whom you've had a huge fight). |

Ahh, the song that made steam come out of Tipper Gore's ears and led her to form the PMRC Police. If it weren't for Karenna Gore's love of our diminutive purple sex-obsessed funk God, we wouldn't be seeing that stupid black & white censor label on CDs that all the parents ignore anyway. |

Urm...no. Stripped to its base (not bass ;) ) it's about a passionate but tumultuous and equally abusive relationship (one that reflects the singer's parents' relationship). Just like it was in the movie (Purple Rain). |

Even better, the ones who did this FIRST (and this is part of the reason why I can't stand Sinead O'Connor) were The Family, one of Prince's pet projects in the mid-80's. The band included three members of The Time (Jerome, Jellybean, and St. Paul [Petersen]), Eric Leeds, and Susannah Melvoin. And while St. Paul doesn't have the greatest voice in the whole world, his vocals *were* the song...Sinead made a mockery of it (and of Prince in the fallout) and cashed in the fame.... |

Urm, yeah. His wife (Mayte). She who does not live with him anymore, but they continue to have a 'friendly' relationship. Face it people, Prince isn't gay, he isn't straight, he's bisexual (if not a transsexual). See "I Would Die 4 U" lyrics (and they're not all about Jesus, either, people). |
