wow, i came here to read some interpretations of these lyrics but i couldnt find anyone. I'd like to know what u guys think about the killing the dad thing. Is it part of the song story? when he says "i'll do anything I can" would it be to help her killing her father? That's how it seems to me. When they talk all night are they planning the murder? (it was the wrong way, so they werent really trying to make it right) It makes sense to me and maybe she has to run away just after shooting her dad. I'd like to hear other opinions. |

It's unbelievable how only few people have can give a good interpretation to this lyrics. Taylor, that's interesting but you went too far. tuvia, I agree with you. A sensible interpretation. I just wanted to reafirm it. This song is obviously about death. Not only about passing away, but about the death, as character (you may call it god, fate or, preferably, the KILLING MOON), taking people away. In this case, the singer. Many of you did talk about death, but nobody realized that the whole song is about it and there's no one else on scene: only the singer and death. "Under blue moon I saw you / so soon you'll take me". It's obvious that He saw the death coming to take him in its arms. Now it's too late to beg. He will die anyway: its his killing time. Doesn't it fit perfectly? The rest goes like that. He doesn't want to die, but fate acts against his will. "He will wait until you give yourself to him". It is talking about fate. That's the only part of the song which is not very clear for me because if fate acts against your will, you should die anyway. So, fate won't wait anything: will just take him away. It's a little contradiction of these lyrics, which doesn't affect this song's beauty. |

That's how it goses to me: The protagonist is regreting because his woman left him: the soil is falling over his head and he climbs to an empty bed, no one waits for him. His ex lover is now marrying. She's sad veiled bride, who doesn't exactly love his groom, since she needs him more than she loves him. But, although she left him, the protagonist wants her to be happy and wants her husband to treat her well. Now he creates a hypothetical character who reminds him: why are you on your own tonight if youre clever, good looking etc. Now, they're in each other's arms: the one he loves and her husband. The next paragraph talks about the difficulty he has to remain gentle and kind with her and her husband because he's furious, so is much easier to laugh and hate. Finally, it kindda confirms my interpretation, saying that her love is not natural and real, because she should love him, but is married with another man. I hope you guys like my interpretion to this wonderful lyrics. |

I agree with a lot of things said here. But no one talked about the homossexualism. Dont u notice the obvious homossexual mentions? Ive heard even that the BIcycle refers to homossexualism... but you can interpret it more literally and less metaphorically... To me it goes like that: a cyclist gets it wheel punctured. having no way to go home - because he's on a desolated hillside - he accepts a lift from a charming man. why complicate life thinking about a way to go home and carry his bike if the passenger seat of the charming man's car is free and it is smooth? ok, then he tells the man he would go out at that night, but he didnt have any cloth there and needed to go home, but the man says it doesnt matter cause he doesnt care, theyd go out together. He still praises the cyclist saying he's handsome: obviously a homossexual one, who wants to bring the cyclist to the same way. now theres kind of a confusion in who's moz talking about: the jumped up pantry boy is the cyclist who never knew his place, the homossexual one, that the charming man has just shown him. I dont know where u guys found so much about marriage, but maybe this return the rings has sth to do with it. but, in that case, the marriage would be between the charming man and the cyclist, not a real wedding but an affair. and, finally, moz says that he agree with the charming man and goes with him, when he says "he knows so much about this things". So, i think moz is telling about a homossexual experience or initiation. I hope u guys like this interpretation, and let me know what did u think about it answering. I wont mind if you disagree, mainly because my english isnt very good and thats why maybe i dont understand the lyrics well. oh, by the way, i love it. |
