Charlie Daniels Band – In America Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This songs obviously about getting your ass kicked by a Pittsburgh Steeler fan. "You just go and lay your hand on a Pittsburgh Steeler fan, and I think you're gonna finally understand." It means you'll get your hand broke if you lay it on a Steeler fan.... the baddest muthers around. Charlie knew it. |
Gordon Lightfoot – Sundown Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I like two lines in this song: "I can see her lyin' back in her satin dress In a room where you do what you don't confess" and... "Sometimes I think it's a sin When I feel like I'm winnin' when I'm losin again" in my opinion that is songwriting at its finest. |
David Bowie – Modern Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Wow llama soap... your post just hit me like a ton of bricks and whether or not this what this song means that is the meaning I'm taking. I did the EXACT same thing you described (and the song describes). I dated a girl, got engaged, and had my heart ripped out. I was completely down and out so I went to church thinking a positive influence would be good for me, but I was disillusioned about what I heard so I only went like a couple times; then I just started the process over. I just heard this on my pc so I thought I'd get on and read the lyrics for the hell of it and end up seeing my life described by this song... and only after 3 long island ice teas. Still... very powerful. |
Creedence Clearwater Revival – Down On The Corner Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Don't know what's supposedly going on in the courthouse, but I don't think that matters. In small American towns the Courthouse is usally the center of the community. Often times an outdoor concert for social gathering takes place on the courthouse steps. If you live in a city of more than say... 30,000 this notion might seem upsurd, but in rural America this is commonplace. Like much of CCR this song exemplifies small town America and it's just local boys playing music over by the courthouse. A small crowd gathers and listens. That's all. It's not random lyrics... CCR is describing the scene and mood. Great song. |
Peter, Paul and Mary – Puff (The Magic Dragon) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
So they went ahead and made a cartoon about a drug song? Anybody remember that cartoon? They use to air it on TV once in a while but I haven't seen it in YEARS. Now it all makes since as to why I was so hungry after watching it. It's all subliminal. WTE |
Martina McBride – A Broken Wing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Since the song quotes the husband as saying: "You're crazy for believin' You'll ever leave the ground"... "Only angels know how to fly" She uses the open window figuratively to tell him ... "oh yeah... watch this angel fly out of here". She is a very bright and creative woman imo. The husband probably wouldn't understand the symbolism. At least that's how I interpret it... but songs are what you make of it and you can get whatever you like out of it. |
Creedence Clearwater Revival – Have You Ever Seen the Rain? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Quite possibly THE perfect song. |
Grand Funk Railroad – I'm Your Captain Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I always thought it was about drugs. The ship being the drug that keeps him afloat: "You'd better think about it, I just can't live without it. So, please don't take my ship from me" -I take that as some type of intervention to try to get the person off of drugs. "I'm your captain, I'm your captain, Although I'm feeling mighty sick. Everybody, listen to me, And return me, my ship." -The intervention works so he tries cold tuckey but withdrawal makes him sick and he feels like he is drowing so he wants his drugs/"ship" back. "I'm your captain, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah" -He relapses and goes on a massive binge. "I'm getting closer to my home (to fade)" -Either he is OD'ing and dying, or he feels at home tripping. That's just my take. |
Creedence Clearwater Revival – Lodi Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Lodi towns must be cursed. The one here in Ohio is just a non-descript small town. They do have an outlet mall if you're into that crap. |
Orgy – Blue Monday Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Didn't this guy do some porno? |
Dexys Midnight Runners – Come On Eileen Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This at least did spawn the laugh out loud joke: Why did Michael Jackson Beat It? Because he wanted to Come On Eileen. |
Kenny Rogers – Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The worst song ever... period. |
Kenny Rogers – Lucille Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Don't know if other places do this but in Ohio State bars when he sings the line "You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille"... the entire bar yells "slut, bitch, fucking whore" or something like that. Rather funny |

Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I for one am waiting for IRONxxxMAIDEN 44 to release his epic guitar montage for all of us to cream our pants over. What's that? Oh you are a frustrated basement guitarist whose only audience is playing "Hallowed Be Thy Name" to the 3 fat girls that actually want to listen to your work of art? Keep up that technically brilliant guitar playing and keep reaching for the stars. Maybe in 40 years you will have made one billionth the impact that Nirvana had, but I doubt it. |
Nirvana – Seasons in the Sun Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Jethro Tull – Bungle In The Jungle Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Shaggy – Angel Lyrics | 19 years ago |
How you get "The Joker" by the Steve Miller Band out of this is beyond me. Thanks for the laugh. |
Michael Mcdonald – What a fool believes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This should be under The Doobie Brothers. Anyway, it's my favorite Doobies song. |
George W. Bush – My Question Lyrics | 20 years ago |
There's a reason why the terrorists don't kill the stoners, crack heads, and disillusioned of this country. Because you are not a threat to anything and nobody cares what you say or think. You are the terrorist's ammo. |
George W. Bush – I Blame Tennessee Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Despite what political view I have... I think this is a funny song; and very true. Maybe Tennessee was trying to tell us something. |
Alabama – If You're Gonna Play in Texas (You Gotta Have a Fiddle in the Band) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
"Louisiana Man" is a song, genius... which is why it is in quotes in the above context. I think this song is about if you are in a country band and you are playing in the state of Texas... then you better have a band member playing the fiddle. Deep |
Five Man Electrical Band – Signs Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Bob and Tom's version is much better: "and the sign said anybody caught trespassing would be shot on sight so i jumped on the fence and i yelled at the house 'hey! what gives you the...' " BANG!!! *song abruptly ends* lol |
Elvis Presley – In The Ghetto Lyrics | 21 years ago |
cervante, are you talking to another personality or what? You know they say it's ok to talk to yourself, but when you start responding you might want to seek help. lol |
Pearl Jam – Who You Are Lyrics | 21 years ago |
Yes, and in the second verse it's: "Trampled MOSS, on your souls..." then in the third verse/last line: "That's the moss in the aforementioned verse." My second favorite Pearl Jam song. |
