This means more than just a girl or cocaine.. Yeah, he wrote it with cocaine in mind or so I've heard from sources, but really.. Whenever you write a song, it usually applies to so many different things. So, when I look at this, I look at it as -my- addiction. Which, is what a lot of people do. I think it's addiction in general. Being so attatched to something that when the time comes to do it again, you won't say no. But.. Let me break down every single line for you! I have some time to waste. "it's still getting worse after everything i tried. (I can't stop. I've tried to but I need it more when I try.) what if i found a way to wash it all aside. (Is there a way to stop it? Can I get unaddicted?) what if she touches with those fingertips. (But, if I'm near it, if I touch it, will I do it anyways?) as the words spill out like fire from her lips. (She tells me it will be ok if I do it just once more.) Chorus: if she says come inside i'll come inside for her. (If I can do it, I will. Duh.) if she says five it all i'll give everything to her. (I will sacrifice everything just to do it.) i am justified. (He's trying to tell himself it's ok.) i am purified. (He's feeling better after he does it.) i am sanctified. (He feels at peace.) inside you Heaven's just a rumor she'll dispel. (It's a sin to do it, but he doesn't care when he does do it.) as she walks me through the nicest parts of hell. (The addiction is taking him to hell.) i still dream of lips i never should have never kissed. (He should have never done it, but he still wants to.) well she knows exactly what i can't resist (And.. again, he can't resist it.) Chorus i'm just caught up in another of her spells. ("She" makes it seem all right so he keeps doing it.) she's turning me into someone else. (The addiction is changing him.) everyday i hope and pray this will end. (he wants it to stop...) but when i can i do it all again (But, he doesn't have the willpower.) Chorus as surely as the blades course is run. (I interpret this as death.. Who the fuck cares if Sid Vicious wasn't the best musician? He was a God. He had energy. He had personality. He wasn't brainwashed. He acted how he wanted to act and when he wanted to act it. Do you seriously think "Benji" does that? Good Charlotte? Hell, even AFI? Hell no. That's what makes the Sex Pistols stand out. They did what they wanted. Where as, these new bands do what they want so long as it gets them fans. The point of punk, and this has been said, is to be DIFFERENT. How the HELL is Good Charlotte different than any other popular musician these days? They aren't. Let me tell you, if you're listening to something produced by a major label, you're listening to pop. Fuck that. Once in a while, something comes along that's different. That gets everyone a little bit worried and causes some controversy. And, I can count on my hands the number of musicians that have done that while signed to a major label. Point being? Don't accept what the pop culture feeds you. Just because they tell you Good Charlotte is punk, doesn't mean they are. Get some sense. Punk is a mindset more than it is music. |

I believe that your interpretations is in the song. But, I took this song a bit deeper. Yes, he's talking about how God is a lie, but let me take you into another meaning, too. "Don't take it away from me, I need you to hold on to Don't take it away from me, I need you to hold on to Don't take it away from me, I need you to hold on to Don't take it away from me, I need someone to hold on to Don't tear it away from me, I need you to hold on to Don't tear it away from me, I need someone to hold on to Don't tear it away from me, I need you to hold on to Don't tear it... don't tear it... don't take it, don't take it, don't..." Here, taking it away from him means that he doesn't want to give up believing in God. He needs that to hold onto. To believe in. He wants it but he feels like he can't hold on to it. "My head is filled with disease My skin is begging you, please (terrible lie) I'm on my hands and knees I want so much to believe " And again, he wants to believe in God. And, he's begging people(and himself) to let him. He wants to feel comforted, touched, by God. And, his head with filled with disease because he doesn't believe in God. So, therefor he is sinning. He doesn't want to doubt the existance of God, but things around him has made him feel that way. |
