Pavement – Here Lyrics 21 years ago
Hmm, did anyone notice Coldplays song 'Yellow' sounds a lot like this one? I think Chris Martin was influenced by a little more than he tells the press (Bunnymen, U2, Buckley, Radiohead). Great song by the way, although i don't consider S+E to be Pavements best album. (Don't know which one is though, they're all great!!)

U2 – Grace Lyrics 21 years ago
I agree beneath the surface this song is about the word grace and what it means. But to bring across his massage i do believe Bono creates the image of a woman. I even think he is pretty explicate about what kind of a woman he has in mind. I think a woman who is pregnant (she carries a pearl in perfect condition / carries the world on her hips) , but the father is no longer there (maria?), but the following lines could also refer to her being raped (what once was hurt, what once was friction) and being pregnant as a result of that. In any case the song is about making the best of everyting in life, even when that means getting past some pretty ugly stuff.

Also i think the woman the song is about does a special thing for living, maybe making music.
She could be a violin player (no twirls or skips between her fingertips / when she walks you can hear strings) and with her music she makes beauty out of ugly things.

Motorpsycho – Stained Glass Lyrics 21 years ago
This one is simply about the beauty of stained glass. Imagine a church (Paradiso, Amsterdam) and one of the best bands ever (MP) opening up with this song, standing beneath the beautiful stained glass windows of the concert church. A dream come true!

Motorpsycho – Pills, powders & Passion Plays (miss Mitchell In The Ladies Room) Lyrics 21 years ago
I think miss Mitchell must be joni mitchell, but who is the evil musician which the rest of the song is about? Who was only in it for the money, not for the music and is 'giving away the secrets of the trad'? Why 'haven't MP fans discovered this website yet?

Motorpsycho – Painting The Night Unreal Lyrics 21 years ago
This is a briliant comment on the U.S.A., a country with which MP have something of a love-hate relationship with. On their first album lobotomizer was already a tune which seemed to be about America (home of the brave).

What makes this tune special for me is that I listened to it a lot befor and after septer 11th 2001 and it strikes me how much the lyrics seem to be about everything that has happened since. What the singer (Bent) is trying to say, i think, is that nothing much has changed since the days of the Vietnam war, though a lot of people in th U.S. would deny that. These days they still 'barge in' (Irak), only on 'softer shoes'. 'Putting stickers on the darker hues', the media in the U.S. are controlled mainly by large corporations and aren't really objective about what terrifying things are going on in the U.S.

A new sheriff in town seems to be about George W. Bush, although i think they wrote the song prior to his election......

the bald eagle, well, we all know what happened to him. He became extinct. Who shot one of the last bald eagles? I think it was a president, but i'm not shure. The bald eagles seal is still used, even though the animal has been extinct for years. So is the american dream. They are still trying to sell it, but it has lost it's shine a long time ago.

Motorpsycho – Beautiful Sister Lyrics 21 years ago
I think this song is about a very short romance with someone you don't really have a crush on, but after it happened you feel very guilty and you try to explain to yourself and that person why it happened. It's always a struggle to do such and this song is about that struggle. Luckily the lightness of the tune itselfs reveals that short romantic flings aren't really something you should worry about and should enjoy anyway.

Motorpsycho – 577 Lyrics 21 years ago
If there ever was a song about teenage angst, it has to be this one. The person in the song describes the feelings he had when he was a teenager through certain images. From twelve to sixteen, he has a lot of strong emotions, but then in the break (and if, while breaking your heart) something happens and he is not so certain about everything he thought was true up until then. His teenage years end in something of an 'early midlife crisis' and for the rest of his lif he kind of has to make a brand new start. But he doubts the feeling he had in his early teen years will ever come back again.

This is a great song i could identify with very much. At 19 I really felt like it had all been a dream and the real world was going to begin.

It's mostly about the unicity of life as a teenager and how it's slowly taken away from us.
