I know its about the murder tilogy and all but lets just for a second take it out of this trilogy.
I see it as a guy who falls in love in a prostitute, or a girl whos a slut, the prostitute seems to fit more with the video, and he realizes this. But he loves her so much that he hopes she will change for him. Hence him being Mr.Brightside who always looks on the brightside of things. Kinda like what crackerman was pointing at. Cage this could be his childhood, and now hes growing up and starting to meet girls and his first encounter just happens to be this slut. I know its way out there and all but hey songs are open to interpretation. And my life can really relate to my meaning of the song. |

OK i know this probbly follows specific story witht he robots and all. But what if and i mean what if its a song about drugs. This guy is weak and wants someone to help him. THat person just happens to be Yoshimi who is probably his love. a very trajic story. The evil doesn't need to be robots but drugs, and eating him, its a reference to any drug taking ur life away either by death or just an obsession of the narcotic. Because he wants to break away from the drugs but people tell him he can't which puts him down so he wants Yoshimi to help him. But this is just what it means to me. |

I once saw Andy in an interview and he stated the band was atheist or atleast he was, listen to Smartest Monkeys he talks about Adam and Even not happening but anyways. I agree its not clear if the kid in the song does/does not beleive in god, but its easy to see he doubts god. Since Andy is atheist could this not be why he became an atheist, andy as young child. I think this song is the greatest song ever written. The lyrics seem to relate to everyone and it has just such a true meaning. Im just dissapointed they never play it in concert anymore, if you watched the MTV2 Videology he said they got sick of being known for this song. Right now i feel about a girl this way shes "so fucking special but im a weirdo" and don't "what the hell im doin here". I always saw this song as beeing about a guy who has a girlfriend who he loves dearly but just doesn't see why shes with him. This song just hits everyone so close to home and is a work a art, Radiohead is a brilliant band when it comes to writing lyrics. |
