This is one of the best live songs I've ever heard...I think it's basically about someone who's different from everyone else and it's cause him so much pain over time=stereotypical rock song (no insult intended,i like this stuff) |

This song was pretty good at first, but it's kinda old after you hear it 5,000,000,000,000,000 times (yes,I've counted, thank you very much). i'm breaking a personal rule by not commenting on the meaning, but I'm sure noone will ever read this since hardly anybody knows josey, not only chad kroeger, did this song. |

Isn't it "fight, fight, fight", not "hey, hey, hey"?Anyway, I think the meaning's pretty obvious, you'd have to have a tumor not to recognize it. |

Cowboy Mouth – Easy Lyrics

It seems like in the first part of the song he's saying all these problems belong to a "friend" because he's ashamed that they're his own.In the end, though, it looks like he reveals that they are really his own problems.
I think he's saying that life's too good to comlpain about everything (chorus) and that there's more to it than crap like drugs and booze. That's just my take though... |

Vendetta Red – Shatterday Lyrics

Umm..last time I checked, this box said, "What does this song mean to you?", not "Have you ever seen Vendetta Red" or "How great is this song."I don't care if you've ever seen these people or how nice they were.Does anyone have a halfway intelligent comment on the actual lyrics?other than how "great" they are, obviously. |

godfearingone, that's an interesting view, and I respect your opinion, but don't think that just because you think that's the right interpretation that no one else's can be applied here.and the AUTHOR'S MEANING is not spiritual, it's about a relationship he had with someone where the more he beat her, the more she liked it.i heard him with my own ears at one of their shows (great performance by the way) say this was so.
however, we all have our own personal meanings to songs and isn't that what rally matters? |

Both those make good sense, but I think I see self destruct's.The skyscrapes are representing corporations (they're ususally in big office buildings), but I see the mind rapers as the corporations but they're brainwashing us to buy their product or whatever they might be selling. |

Get off this! I live in Bennettsville, SC so of course what I say is right and all you are wrong(j-k). But since I do live here, I think the first line is referring to how he'd chase this girl basically anywhere just to be with her, because why else would you want to come down here?Coo song, but check out their other stuff, it's much better... |

Disturbed – Prayer Lyrics
|
Great song, but I can see how it's easy to get totally opposite interpretations. Contrary to what I saw on a previous post, all I've ever heard/read/etc. is that David is not a member of a specific religion, but he doesn't HATE organized religion. There's even a quote on the inside of the booklet for Believe that reads to strengthen your faith in WHATEVER IT MAY BE.
Besides, the new symbol for Disturbed is a conglomorate (bad spelling) of the 4 major religions of the world; not meant to glorify them or curse them, but to encourage the thought of tolerance for other people's beliefs.
The song itself is about reactions from within the church (specifically Jerry Falwell, whom no one should consider a symbol of Christianity) to 9/11 and the death of his grandfather, whom he had a poor realtionship with and who (GF) wouldn't accept him (David) even on his deathbed. David felt that God was putting him through a lot at one time, and went through a time of questioning his own faith, but eventually came to have a stronger faith.
Don't think I'm putting words into anyone's mouth or that I'm claiming to know the exact meaning for this song, this is just what I've gathered from what I've learned since the song was released. This is my interpretation of the song, but as with all music, it's all about what it means to the individual, so make your own opinions...You're welcome. |

Bush – Everything Zen Lyrics

Is it "sex in you violence" or "sense in your violence"? I know it sounds like "sex" but "sense" makes more, well, sense. I personally thought it said "there's no sex in New Orleans" the first time I heard it, so I could be wrong. Oh, and this song doesn't really seem to have any meaning, although I'm sure there is,- I can't find it. It does rock though... |

This is my theme song for the world, pretty much. I don't think it's just relating to the music industry, though. It's seems like it could be applied to just life in general, how everyday we're lied to, directly or indirectly, in one form or another.Great song, along with the whole "Open Your Eyes" cd... |

Rage Against the Machine – Born of a Broken Man Lyrics
| 21 years ago
|
Dude, when I first heard this song I thought it was a Christian song...Lemme splain...Throughout the whole song he's talking about somebody suffering, whom I assumed from the line about Jesus, was Jesus suffering. To me it seemed that the song was a story of the crucifixion, where Jesus suffered and Zach was trying to say that even though he (Jesus) was suffering, he was never broken.
Can anyone see where I'm coming from, or am I by myself on this one?
By the way, I'd never heard the thing about his dad, that's why it never occurred to me. |

Mad At Gravity – Burn Lyrics

I'm a Christian, as kid5n1, so I can see where he's coming from here. The lyrics could just as easily have been written by a Christian band, but I don't think these guys are one. Devotion seems to be the general consensus here, and I'd have to say I agree. |

Mad At Gravity – Run For Cover Lyrics

I pretty much agree with you stebug, except for the part about capitalism, I don't really see that. It seems to me that it's saying how much the American society values material goods and the general need to have, and how we've abandoned the important things (spirituality, heritage, history, etc.) in life. I could also see it having something to do with commericalism, in the lines with "concession trays" and "can't afford boredom," saying that we are basically slaves to corporations trying to make money off of us. Man, I think this is my longest entry yet. By the way, I'm not the most politically inclined, so if what I've said IS capitalism, forgive me. Anyway, this is what it is to me; Great song, buy/download it you haven't already. And can we get more than two posts? |

Sevendust – Crucified Lyrics
|
I think that the the image of a crucifixion is just supposed to symbolize someone's suffering caused by someone else who's used them, not necessarily having any religious meaning to this instance.
A crucifixion wasn't anything special for Jesus, it was just a regular form of punishment at that time for the worst criminals as it was the most painful and torturing punishment they could think of. That's why I don't think it has to be religious, but that's just me... |

I don't really see how this could be applied to God/Satan, but hey, that's just my perspective.I think it's just about general conflict: war, personal, i could even see it applied to a sporting match, but I'm sure it's probably just a lil' bit deeper than that. |
