Stereophonics – Pick A Part That's New Lyrics
| 21 years ago
|
"Kelly: "This came from a trip to America with Richard, when Stuart had glandular fever. It's about going to America for the first time and not being remotely shocked. I thought I was going to be really impressed, but I'd already seen it all on television. Even the Empire State Building didn't feel that big. I had to find some parts I hadn't seen before when all I saw were rows and rows of people drinking alone."

Stereophonics – The Bartender And The Thief Lyrics
| 21 years ago
|
"Kelly: "We were waiting for a plane in New Zealand and all these sailors were walking in and out of the bar. Everyone was acting really weird and there were lesbians at the bar. I thought the bartender must see so many different things as people change character, from Jekyll to Hyde, sober to drunk. So I wrote this completely tongue-in-cheek story about the bartender and the thief who is robbing everybody. I found the melody for the chorus on a dictaphone tape. I'd been putting ideas on tape for two years and had never played them back before, until then!"
Kelly: "The song came from an idea we had in this weird bar in New Zealand. It was this really strange place where these mad sailors wandered in and out all night."

Stereophonics – More Life In A Tramp's Vest Lyrics
| 21 years ago
|
"Kelly: I worked in the market for six years. I was in college and worked there at the same time just to get some money. You could be sitting there til five o'clock and you could guarantee you'd be dead for the two hours before that but as soon as you just about to close up twenty people would walk in and that would really wind me up and I'd want to kill them and that's where I got the idea from cos that's when the last minute shoppers come in. It was going to be 'Last Minute Shoppers' and then it was the phrase 'More Life In A Tramp's Vest' came from when the markets went really quiet when big stores came into town and pedestrianised streets and the trade just went away when it used to be a major trading point. It comes from there"

I doubt every story he tells was true..because that little town seems to be more happening than anywhere else i've heard about!
But true of not, it's a sad song and i agree with them all. |

Stereophonics – More Life In A Tramp's Vest Lyrics

It's somebody working in a fruit and veg stall or a supermarket , he's tired of being there and everything's annoying him. People fussing, roads closed down, and everything else. And he's bored of it and he's saying more life in a tramp's vest...meaning tramp's have a more interesting life than he does, or something. |

Sum 41 – Fat Lip Lyrics
|
I take myself seriously and bands should take themselves relatively serious..or the fans won't. Although, sum41 do take themselves seriously but in their songs they don't. They sing about parents and average teenage things, and they look like little boys but they're not. They're not so bad actually, but people get annoyed when people don't act their age. It's a funny song, but the only song of theirs which isn't so bad, it's funny because they rap. |

well i agree with linus that i do't think chino would write a song about him and stephen, it seems kind of creepy to me. Well if i was stephen, i'd be creeped out that chino's writing songs about me. It's to intimate as well.
And since the album was going to be called "lovers" - better name than "deftones" if you ask me - i think it's about getting married.
"make a pact when no-one's around" - proposal
"put the cross between me and you" - if you're christian then that's really what's you're doing.
"how did you come to be so blessed?" - he's besotted with this girl.
"tune out everyone in the crowd because now it's just me and you" - when at a wedding they forget about everyone else
"who wants to fuck with us now?" - they're like a team now, life partners. |

Also the bit about heaven over earth is when she doesn't have the will to live so she chooses heaven (to die).
I really think my interpretation fits, i like your views as well though. |

I think it's about a woman in a coma and her lover is asking her to wake up before she dies. "before the wrath comes".
And then at the end he realises it's no hope, and she should "take off" (pass away). |

don't you think this song is about lesbians? I do...she sings "You wear those shoes and I will wear that dress" and then she sings "Bring your flowered hat" meaning..she'll wear her dress and the other GIRL wears a flowered hat. Why would a boy wear a flowered hat. I still think it's a sweet song, just funny how nobody noticed. |

well i agree with the person saying it's about the music industry. But i don't like your attitude, if you think you're right no need to put down other people's ideas. I really try to avoid the idea of insanity to do with a song. I think the "insanity" card is used to often to describe songs that can't be explain. It's either drugs or insanity. I don't see either how it can be about a church? Why can't they leave??
I'm sticking with the music industry idea. Thanks for contributing.
P.S. i have never actually heard this song, but the lyrics fascinated me so much. |

I have noooo idea what this song means actually. Not one clue, you all have good meanings but they don't apply for the whole song...like the fake society, how are...

It's all to confusing and i look forward to an actual meaning. |

System of a Down – DDevil Lyrics

I'm with foreignman, but that's if i thought their HAD to be a meaning. SOAD are good at confusing people. "self titled" album all the lyrics at first listen -and if you didn't know the band's true potential and talent - you'd think they were permanently on something or talking a whole lot of shit. I find it hilarious we've managed to find a meaning for "strong refridgerators loud and noisy, gaining independance" lolol. If another band wrote about strong refridgerators gaining independance they'd be clarified insane, yet it's accepted by soad. Double standards...eh?
I love the song, and perhaps it could be about religion and how it's plagurised. I think the references are VERY vague and VERY crazy. but that's soad, and i love it the way they come out with crazy things that actually mean things. |

Coldplay – Warning Sign Lyrics

I love this song! Soo much, best song on their recent album.
OKey, I think it's about not knowing what you had until it went. He left this girl, and he missed all the "good parts" and then he realized he wants her back that there was so much for him to discover about her and he didn't give the relationship time, and he was hoping that a "warning sign" would of come when he left the relationship, i think. |

I think it's about problems. Coldplay's songs can aaaaalways be interpreted about love, or problems in love, or being in love, falling out of love, doing things when you're in love. They NEVER sing about drugs or anything so i disagree totally and fail to see how that is about lsd. |

This song is fantastic. The whole of lateralus flows like a story. One track flows into the next so easily. I think this is before you are born, in the womb "all this pain is an illusion" is when she is giving birth and the pain is just an illusion to cover the beauty of the baby! heehee |

I've changed my theory on this...
I think it's about meeting someone, you weren't really supposed to meet maybe, because they're loved by someone else as well "cherised by two". Starts to do think he'll do anything for her. He begins to smoke (carried by a lung) and drink, but he doesn't want this to spoil the "birth of his love". He even starts to lie to her, maybe about his alcoholicism and smoking so he can win her over. "In spite i lie". |

Okey, not completely sure. I think it's about a secret alcoholic and his pregnant girlfriend. He doesn't want his alcoholicism to spoil the pregnancy. He's bored so he wants to have sex with her but maybe she doesn't have sex with him and drinking takes the boredom away. he's lying abouit not drinking. |

Sage865711916 your theory is ingenious. But I'm doubtful, that is it. Okey, I don't have anyy ideas (at all!) about the meaning, but it yours seems rather complex for a deftones songs. Normally they have various meanings to everyone but nobody seems to have a clue on this one. |

Well the constant repeat of burn reminds me of "hell" so I think it's about religion maybe. There's two people girl and boy. The guy has done things right and maybe feels he's going to heaven. The girl has done things wrong. They split up because maybe she's being a bad christian and he doesn't want to be with her. And the constant references to religon "beneath the floor" - hell
"breach" - splitting of the church
Think about it. So i'm partly with chino69 |

well i don't know. Both theories fit well...
but what does this mean?
"Remold into gold and bury I from - Sun"
"Reborn left to sigh, recure maybe I'll
Be born and simplify - The way I lie - Before"
"Repent by you and trust to figure out
I burn that gift to you - doll and let it shine before"
I don't think any of these couplets fit your theories. |
