Death – The Philosopher Lyrics
|
I have read that Chuck read a lot of philosophical literature, and have always thought this song is about a (possibly temporary) disillusionment in using philosophy to help make you a better person. It's happened to me for sure. At first you absorb all the thoughts and writings of others, then you realize that none of these people have lived your life thus have no idea what is right for you to do.
But if my interpretation of the song is correct, and Chuck's opinion on philosophers is correct, then it's basically saying that you can't learn anything from other people, and I don't think Chuck was ignorant enough to believe that so I'm probably wrong somewhere. |

How is that sad? Both of them played acoustic groove/folk. It's really quite easy to see how a comparison could be made if you know both artists' work extensively... |

Michael Jackson – Smooth Criminal Lyrics

Michael Jackson wasn't found innocent. He was found not guilty. Learn how the American justice system works.
And I think AAF does an amazing cover of this tune. I love covers that don't recreate the song exactly the same. It's fun because it's just a different way of hearing a song you already like. |

What do you mean why would you want to smoke "joints"? I mean who wouldn't want a nice fat joint?

Lamb of God – The Faded Line Lyrics

"Silence, the only promise ever kept"
I'm pretty sure it's about an addict. Doesn't matter what of, but addicts usually don't discuss their habits openly. When it comes to alcoholics and someone addicted to opiates, you pretty much cannot rely on them for anything at all.
The only promise they can keep is not telling anyone about their addiction. |

2112Rush2112, that was probably the first intelligent post yet for this song. I congratulate you.
I think Ozzy had a few ideas in his head when writing the lyrics, but a lot of it seems similar to the reputation of weed. You could apply it to whatever you like though. |

This song makes me think about how GW Bush is a religious extremist just like the Muslim and Islamic extremists. I'm not sure if that is what Randy was going for, I actually doubt that is what this song is even about. That's just what it makes me think about. |

Lamb of God – 11th Hour Lyrics
|
It's mostly about alcoholism. The two times I saw them he introduced the song with, "Tip your bartenders, this is 11th Hour" or "Cheers motherfuckers this is 11ths Hour."
It also makes sense for it to be about alcohol seeing that Randy is borderline alcoholic. Great song.
I think Lamb of God is metalcore though, definitely. The thing is, "metalcore" is the worst name for a genre ever since the bands all sound very different. It's just taking hardcore and mixing it with any other variant(s) of metal. LoG definitely has hardcore influences but they fuse it with lots of harsh death and thrash. Whereas a band like Shadows Fall blends hardcore with melo-death and hard rock. Who cares about genres anyway...as long as the music rocks. |

Nick Drake – Place To Be Lyrics
|
The first stanza is showing how when we're young we don't realize how fucked up the world really is. We're completely innocent and everything's great. Once we get older we see how messed up things are and we have to take responsibility for ourselves.
When he says he was "green" it means he is inexperienced. Things were much more optimistic when he was still a child I assume he is trying to say. Now that he is older he can't really find a place to belong.
I'm not sure what he's trying to say in that last stanza. I don't know if he means he is weak because he needs the person, or if he is saying he needs the person in his time of weakness. You can apply it however you want though.
Amazing damn song. Nick Drake is a genius with more talent with his guitar and with his voice than I could ever achieve in a lifetime of practice. I try though lol. Sometimes he reminds me of John Mayer, only not as poppy. |

Avenged Sevenfold – Beast and the Harlot Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
The guitar harmonies and solos in this song sound 100x better than ANYTHING on STST and WTF. Sorry dude, just because a punk/metal band actually decides to have clean vocals doesn't make them sell out or become popular. Bands become popular by being good, most of the time. The drumming on this song is solid just like everything else as well. Don't feel like you always have to like things that are obscure, or your teenage years will suck ass. |

Cradle of Filth – Nymphetamine Overdose Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
Taken from the official site and mouth of Dani Filth:
Nymphetamine
The title track concerns itself with a love affair so intense, that although soured and dead, ignites at the slightest sniff of re-invention. The first hand characterisation insinuates a drug-like addiction to the woman in question, with her insidious vampyre qualities literally bringing Her lover back from the brink of the spiritual grave, only to bury him further on the strength of a whim. This is very Edgar Allan Poe in style and leaves one thinking that, despite the character's inner agonies, he is really a welcome submissive who readily enjoys the terrible highs and lows of his relationship with this alluring and filthy, depreciative succubus. The cool thing about this song is that it is really a beast of several parts. A chimera. The main hub of the song is very lovelorn and drowsily melodic and it is these traits combined with shared female and male vocal passages that serve to highlight the plight of this, the title track of the album. However, this catchier side to C.O.F (a la 'Malice' and Babalon') is offset next to the first and last parts of the song which all come together to form a darkly erotic triptych.
These two sections reveal another chorus augmented with an exceedingly creepy and menacing lead line that bursts suddenly (and frenetically) into brutal riffage along the lines of: Napalm Death and Mayhem.

Metallica – Trapped Under Ice Lyrics

This song has alot of ambiguous meaning to different people. However, I think the band wrote it from the state of mind of someone literally being trapped under ice. I only think this because much of the album explores life-and-death situations that really have no escape. |

Andrew W.K. – Party Hard Lyrics

I'll give my little rant on this tune. Andrew WK is a great guy. He's entertaining, crazy, and his music is all about just simply having fun. He doesn't write his songs to get any real arguements or points across. He just wants eveyone to have a good time, and to have alot of fun. He's great to his fans as well. I mean, he writes his own song lyrics on his fans' t-shirts! |

I just came back from Ozzfest so I could shed light on the song. ATWA most probably stands for Air, Water, Trees, Animals. And it most deifinitely has something to do with Charlie Manson. During the song Charlie's eyes showed up on the big screen. I think it's about how Charlie Manson fucking hated everyone in the world, but he absolutely loved nature. Even still, it doesn't make him a good guy. |
