well said, wizard. this song is amazing. the bass is very well done... it really gives the feeling that you are driving down the road and getting that 'woosh' feeling as you pass signs, cars, etc. i think that the lyrics indicate a loss of both spirituality and self (which in some way are the same, i think). people are told that they aren't good enough or don't fit in or are wrong for the way they are born... these things make us conflicted and don't solve anything. this song really represents that disconnected, confused feeling of the everyman (everywoman?) in western society. |

my favorite thing about the queens is that they are not like all the cowering children of the war on drugs. they accept the responsibility of drug use and throw it in the faces of their fans. its about time musicians made drugs popular again. |

when i was young (this was the 80s...) helter skelter came on the radio in the car. my mother said to me 'this song started all the punk music' and i didn't forget it.
i must say, this song really proves the beatles' strength as innovators. |
