It makes sense thinking that "another brick in the wall" means you have a meaningless life, that sad, depressing pessimistic existential view. But the song seems to be talking about to the teacher and not the student. And I think this "Brick in the wall" metaphor has two separate and opposite meanings.
If one were to say that this song spoke about how bad teachers are: Sayin gthey are manipulative and attemp to control the students, than the wall would be something that hurt the students and the teachers would be contributing to it. Possibly, the wall is a barrier preventing them from really learning about life and not just the sick views of their teachers and this teacher is a brick in that wall. That is, the teacher is part of the barrier that holds back the students.
If you look at the second meaning of the song, the obvious double negative in the first and second line, the song has a whole other meaning. The kids can't properly say they don't need an education, they really say they need an education. Its probably out of ignorance or lack of knowledge4 that they don't realise that they do need an education. With this in mind the teacher is something good for them and the wall is an important part of their life, maybe it is their life. So the brick in the wall is an important part of the wall because without it the wall would crumble, saying that without an education your life is useless, after all, all that separates us from the rest of the animals is the ability to think. |

burp 15... fuck off. these guys were talented musicians and knew how to write music. Their songs, including Bohemian Rhapsody, weren't just songs about nothing for stoners. they knew how to play their insturments and could wirte good lyrics. these lyrics obviously seem too advanced for you so you just say its a stupid stoner song for wayne's world. next time, don't say something so damn stupid! |

it's about the wirter giving advice to a boy. The advice between the queen of hearts and diamonds is about the types of women in this world. you have to find the queen of hearts or the one that loves you for who you are, not the queen of diamonds who only cares whatsw in your bank.

I think it's just about death! it comes in the "dark side of oz" as dorothy is sybolically dying or getting knocked unconcious during the tornado as the house is detting thrown around the sky. hence the name great gig in the sky.

does anyone know what this song is really about? at the beginning of his carreer Billy Joel got screwed over by a record label on an awful contract and couldn't release any of his songs and he couldn't work in any large music business because of the contract so until it expired he had to work at a small bar. this song is his experiences at the bar. |

I agree, this song is very well done and people just say it sucks because he's gay. All Elton's words are written by Bernie Taupin who isn't gay! It's actually about a brother who is leaving and was previously in the war and lost his sight there. |

one of the best songs ever that deals with death! It was one of the only songs written by queen (Brian May) following Freddie Mercury's death. It's great that through the song which I believe was written to Freddie Mercury, they thank him for "Making a sensation" - he's the one that made queen although they all are very talented, and they recognise that and thank him for it. |
