| To me the song is about talking to the inner child inside. The endless soul inside which is the “simple thing” he’s been walking this path of life a long time, this long life and he knows the path well but he’s getting old and needs something to rely on because things stop being so simple when your older. The tree also symbolizes youth. The tree has since fallen with branches scattered about but the tree was once young and that was a place he once loved..the place of youth doing simple things like climbing a tree or sitting under it with a friend. He feels like the ends coming and wants to ask the simple thing..his inner child, where did you go, can we meet in a place that we both know and remember those simpler times. That’s what this song says to me. | |
