Pink Floyd – The Great Gig in the Sky Lyrics 21 years ago
In my opinion, there is SO much emotion in this instrumental song. Even though the lady never actually "sings" any lyrics, her emotions are very apparent. Excitment, anger, sadness, then anger again...and so on... I get so deep into this song when I hear it that I practically experience the same emotions with her.

Pink Floyd – Dogs Lyrics 21 years ago
I think the song is about survival. You have to be constantly watching your back because people will lie and scheme to get what they want in this competitive society. And you have to be willing to do a little of lying and scheming yourself if you want to survive. Kinda like the "survival of the fittest" theorey. But in the end, regardless of what you do or who you are, we will all be affected by the decisions we make and will all have to "reap the harvest we have sown." This is by far my FAVORITE Pink Floyd song.

Dido – Honestly OK Lyrics 22 years ago
I think she is "honestly OK" on the outside but she is missing something... and without it she is lost in a sense...and empty inside. her heart is empty.

Dido – Isobel Lyrics 22 years ago
I think this song is about her best friend Isobel who has just left her lover. And Isobel is trying to figure out if she made the right choice. She is going over all these things in her mind and addressing some really important issues..."and who he would become by the things he had done...would he have loved you and not let you down... would he be stronger than his fater...don't worry yourself, leave it well alone..." Maybe these are things that all her friends saw and mentioned to her over the years. And her friends just want her to know that they are there to help her through the rough times and giver her support and love her.

Duran Duran – Ordinary World Lyrics 22 years ago
it's pretty self expanatory what this song means. Obviously he's lost his love and best friend and this song is describing how different the world seems without that person...how they linger on... and even though life may seem strange without that person, there is an ordinary world out that somehow will be found.

Pink Floyd – Hey You Lyrics 22 years ago
I agree with Soma. He managed to build the wall around himself so high and shut everyone out that now his cries for help are unheard. He is calling out for help but nobody can hear him. It's almost like screaming but no sound coming out of your mouth. Kinda hard to explain. Almost like he's crying for help, but not in the traditionl way and nobody understands or can see what is really going on...He's despirate now and will call out to anyone...the guy on the street in the cold getting lonely getting old...the guy on his own sitting naked by the phone...the guy out there on the road always doing what he's told... anyone. OR maybe he's crying out to himself. maybe these thing are all him. maybe he's telling himself to not give in without a fight and end up in the ground barried and eaten by worms. hum...

Pink Floyd – Goodbye Blue Sky Lyrics 22 years ago
I have heard and seen in interviews that "The Wall" is not directly about WWII. It is my understanding that the album and movie are about the walls we build up around ourselves. It is analagous to actual war, like WWII, in that the war we fight within ourselves can be very harsh and sometmies is as bad as an actual "real" war. Look at Pink in the movie.... He grew up in a time of war, lost his dad to the war and felt isolated and alone...became a rock star, lost his wife, had a constant battle with drugs...almost killed himself to ease the pain.... On a smaller scale, this guy has basically been fighting a war within himself ever since he was young. I think Goodbye Blue Sky addresses the misconception of what we think life is. We each grow up and are taught that the world is this great place and there are nice loving people out there... this song is about how those expectations and dreams can be shattered when we go out and learn how the "real" world actually is. This life we live can seem all wonderful and great then something can happen and it all comes crashing down like "falling bombs." And then you wonder why these things are happening to you when you were always promised all these great things...you start to wonder "why you had to run for shelter when the promise of the brave new world unfurled beneath the clear blue sky..." And long after the "flames" are gone, "the pain lingers on."

Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here Lyrics 22 years ago
This was Rogers friend, and a friend to the rest of the band. And it's hard to see someone with so much creativity and talent to just throw it all away because of a drug addiction. People who are addicted to drugs usually have a hard time telling the difference between fiction and reality...and often have a skewed perception of the world around them. And as a friend of someone like this, we can only ask them if they know what they're giving up in exhange for this life. And if they let the drugs take control of them, they are ultimately trading their freedom for a "lead role in a cage." Life is hard...and sometimes we think we can make it all better by "escaping" with drugs, but in the end, we're all just lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year... and there is nothing to do but just wish he was here.

Phil Collins – In The Air Tonight Lyrics 22 years ago
I think this song is about a guy who witnesses some kind of crime, but doesn't let anyone know what he saw. Maybe he witnessed his wife having an affair and never said anything. Instead he probably just ended the marriage and went on with life keeping everything inside. By doing this, anger builds up and basically, if he ever saw the guy again, he would not help him if he was in trouble becuase he knows what they guy has done. And after all the pain and waiting, he finally feels that this guy is going to get what he deserves. He can't describe why, but he can just "feel it in the air tonight." Because what goes around comes around.
