who is she as a jewish woman to call an irish american like jackson pollock a nigger, when the word nigger is also used as a racial slur towards against the irish people? (her story that she just means an regular outsider is bullshit. its a cover to use the word nigger against marginalized people. what she means with an outsider is somebody in jail. when she sings ¨outside of society is where i want to be¨ she is referring to ¨baby¨ and not to herself. she is basically saying ¨niggers¨ want to be in jail and outside of society. patti smith is a racist in support of mass incarceration and the jailing of everybody, except for non-jews that pass for ¨white¨ just like her. and she has proved it, with this song. |

@[the_dza1:31637] ...she claims it means outsider in the song. though i feel the song is just an excuse to call people a nigger. its also that there are too many racial/racist innuendos in the song that position the song too much into a racist category. ...what i also noticed is that she called jackson pollock a nigger. irish people used to be name-called ¨niggers¨ in the us. actually, i feel like the song is an excuse to call people who at times already have the word nigger directed at them, a ¨nigger¨. i hate the song. |

@[alrac:31636] ...nonetheless she is still calling people a nigger. and to call jackson pollock who is of irish descent and/or jimmy hendrix a nigger, while saying you really mean ¨outsider¨ just sounds like covert racism to me. i feel like the song is just an excuse to call people niggers. i feel practically the same about john lennon singing, ¨woman is the nigger of the world¨. and notice how she calls everybody a nigger but herself. its like she wants an ¨outsider/nigger¨ position without being a so called outsider/nigger. |

this song is a cheap excuse for patti smith to use the n-word against people. notice how she doesn't call herself a nigger, like everybody else in the song, but claims to want their edgy outsider position for herself, without actually having to be a ¨nigger¨. patti just took too many drugs, wrote a song, and couldn't use her brain enough to simply not release it. |

i feel like the song is just an excuse to get away with calling people a nigger, to whom the word ¨nigger¨ is still used against as a pejorative. including pollock who is part irish, and jimmy hendrix who´s african american. would she consider calling janis joplin a nigger, or even herself, i think not. |

regardless of john lennon´s opinion about what he is singing, he is still calling all ¨non-white¨ women niggers; including all irish women.
and to sing ¨woman is the slave to the slaves¨ in combination with singing ¨woman is the nigger of the world¨ in the same song, is to also call all ¨non-white¨ women niggers and slaves. and in doing so, reinforcing racist and classist pejoratives already in use against them. thereby calling ¨non-white¨ women (including irish women) slaves/niggers to the slaves/niggers to the slaves/niggers.
i find this song on that basis not only racist but also classist, and overall contemptuous whether the song was meant to be classist/racist or not. nonetheless, i can't believe john lennon would not have thought about the further implications of the lyrical meaning of the song he was singing.
o, and by the way, i find the song sexist as well. its probably all meant as a form of covert racism/classism/sexism. ...sorry john, but somebody had to say it. |
