Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit Lyrics 8 years ago
It's about his own sexual revolution with the loss of his virginity. It's almost as if he's reminiscing about his first time ,and the song has it's own subtle sensuality. He considered himself a loser in school and was picked on by jocks and a society he despised for portraying women as objects/possession. There's just one problem with hating them for it: he was a lonely horny TEEN and wanted the same thing. He felt guilty for it.

The video sheds more light on the meaning. It's almost like a pep rally for every teen's sexuality. He's making fun of us all including himself for the awkward/nervous nature teen girls and guys have around one another. The on again off again guitar reflects that perfectly.

The video has multiple clips of a janitor which has it's own meaning. For a short time after he dropped out he worked as a janitor at his school. Hes revisiting that brief humiliating time as well as cleaning a school that made him feel dirty. And just what is it the janitor has curled up in his hands he looks to be smelling at the begining of the video? It looks like the old man found panties and is reminiscing. They smell like teen spirt. It smells like sex. He's realizing he's no better then the jocks he loathed or any other guy for that
matter.

Nirvana – Drain You Lyrics 8 years ago
This is one of the more disturbing popular songs I can think of. This song is not about love or a heroine addiction. It's about abortion.

Mom's pregnant but she's got a surprise. She's got twins and doesn't know it. A lot of the dialogue in the song is hello, goodbye, and thanks between the 2 embryos. One of the babies makes it through the procedure and the other is paying homage to the lost brother or sister.

The next time you listen to the break and build up in the song listen for the squeaky noise effects. Those are babies toys. Listen for the back and forth effect as the vacuum does it's business. Listen to the scream diminish as the baby is sucked away.

Consider cobain wasn't scared to address the subject in pennyroyal tea. Consider the constant medical references throughout in utero as well as the almost obsessive use of babies in the album art. Consider the name of the song. Quite bluntly titled Drain you.

This song is a dark masterpiece and as I said disturbing. If you've managed to read this far, Drain you will never sound the same again.
