Howard Jones – No One Is To Blame Lyrics 9 years ago
I always thought from the initial verses it was about a fat guy, but when he says you're the fastest runner, but you're not allowed to win, I remember thinking, no..it's not about fat people. It maybe about self defeating prophesied people who are their own worst enemy because of the part about insecurity and aspirations being high, but hopes all died out. This is so true..Aspirations are long term and goal whereas to me hopes are specific and short term. " Life is what happens when you're making plans" comes to mind which is usually the story of everyone's life, you plan on doing things, but eventually..you get older and your choices fade and go away..Sad but true

The Commodores – Sail On Lyrics 9 years ago
This was written for an album released in 1979, he didn't leave the Commodores until 1982, so I don't think it was about leaving his band. He married in 1975 and divorced in 1983, so again, I don't think it was about his future divorce which happened 4 years after he released the song. As far as who or what he was referring to when he wrote it..I dont' know.
