My son passed May 7, 2020. When I hear this song I hear it as a troubled son’s apology to his mom. I believe this song could be about a sons passing and him in spirit wanting her to be able to move on. |

I really love this interpretation. I feel the loss of the little boy is her son though. I think we all bring our own stuff into our interpretations, I have lost a child and once that happens nothing else matters. I think she is having a hard time understanding God and why there was this loss. I do feel the 'not yet' is hopeful. :) |

Or perhaps she can't emotionally be a lover to anyone because of the loss of the child. I know that when a person loses a child they sometimes shut down and become inaccessible to anyone else around them, to avoid the pain of loving. There is no greater pain that losing a child. |

This could be. My interpretation of the angels calling her out by her name are the dead people that she has lost. I imagine it first started with the loss of her child and then others around her and she cannot get over it. I do like your interpretation though. |

I agree with the replies about the song being about Herion. I believe that the lines
"the hair is from a little boy and the cross is someone she has not met, not yet" I feel that this woman lost a child, a young son, to death. I feel the line about the cross is someone she has not met is about her not being able to forgive God for allowing her son to die. I know parents who have lost children go through anger with God. Yet, it is hopeful, someone she has not met, not yet. Not yet, gives me a little hope that maybe one day she can come to terms with God. |

I feel she lost a childand that is where the lock of hair is from. The little boy. She cannot escape the pain of that loss. The only way is to get as far away from it as possible, literally out of her mind. |
