It is about one thing both parties want but just could never have because they don't patch things up. It's about the loss of communication. It tells us the importance of communication in any relationship: be it romantic or whatever else. Final masquerade, it is one thing I can't understand about this song. Maybe it's talking about the edge. Like when you don't say your stance to someone, you are preventing the other person to understand you; you put barriers - just like what is happening in this song. Maybe final masquerade means that moment you are almost breaking down from getting to compromises; like that particular moment when you are about to miss the last flight and you'll miss it. It's the point of no return. Well this song could be about unfortunate relationship but it could also be about anything else. I think it has something to do with the society of the world. People keep fighting and fighting standing for their rights which are correct but almost becoming wrong because they don't look for ways to make thinks up. They just fight and fight until today that there just seems to be no way to bring good things back - "what is done is done". We are all standing at the end of the final masquerade. |

The MV has nothing to do with the lyrics, except maybe that Adam still likes the girl even after she left him alone when she realized that he's not turning his back on his business. "But baby there you go again, there you go again, making me love you. And I stopped using my head, using my head, let it all go. Got you stuck on my body, on my body like a tattoo. And now I'm feeling stupid, feeling stupid running back to you." But that doesn't help a lot too. Generally the song is about that feeling when you know you should go away but you've become too involved to do it now. That feeling when you know you should stop but you have just fallen for it and it's not very easy to alter things. But suddenly, the other person got things done in your behalf unannounced. Looking closely into the lyrics, I think it's some sort of prostitute-client affair, just taken a little too much. You and I go hard at each other like we're going to war - sex/infidelity maybe? You and I go rough, we keep throwing things and slamming the door - fight You and I get so damn dysfunctional, we start keeping score - "cold war" lol You and I get sick, yeah I know that we can't do this no more - come to terms. This one is self-explanatory if taken from the above lyrics -- They have sex and then they feel involved and then they think they can hold a grip on things and then they disagree and then they fight and they they take pride and then they agree to be apart, but then he knows it's not what he wants: "Try to tell you no but my body keeps on telling you yes Try to tell you stop but your lipstick got me so out of breath I'll be waking up in the morning probably hating myself And I'll be waking up feeling satisfied but guilty as hell" But finally, it is over for her. "But I'll only stay with you one more night." Anyway, it may also be a boyfriend-girlfriend or husband-wife thing, but the way I see it it's rather sensual and sexual so I'm leaning more on prosti-client kind of affair. Well, I love it; it's very catchy. And hey, it's Maroon 5 so yeah! I love their music. They say what they say and they don't give a damn about what people have to say. They're sure of themselves. I love them. |

First off, this is a good song. I was reading the comments and didn't really intend to take on my part, but I suddenly felt the need to. Well, almost everybody thinks the song is about Jesus, I highly doubt it though. Why? Because the word sacrifice is someone or something valued that is given up for somebody or something else that is considered to be of more value and importance. In religion, it is something given up as an offering to God. I am not a Christian myself but this is common sense. Why would Jesus be a sacrifice? Okay, let's go on to the lyrics. "Hello my friend we meet again It's been a while, where should we begin Feels like forever Within my heart are memories Of perfect love that you gave to me Oh, I remember" - It's obvious they are two old friends/lovers that were really happy in each other's company and the feeling never has changed a bit. "When you are with me, I'm free I'm careless, I believe Above all the others we'll fly This brings tears to my eyes My sacrifice" - Why perfect love (as mentioned in the first verse)? This part perfectly explains it. It's because everything just feels perfect when they're together. No deadlines, no boundaries, no expectations, no regrets, just the way they want it. It's perfect. They are the perfect two (above all others), but they just can't keep it forever for some more important reason ("this brings tears to my eyes"), and they had to stop it. They had to sacrifice each other. They are each other's sacrifice. "We've seen our share of ups and downs Oh how quickly life can turn around In an instant It feels so good to reunite Within yourself and within your mind Let's find peace there" - So they meet each other again and this part just expresses how grateful they are for this moment. "I just want to say Hello again" - Well, like the former verses, it's still impossible for them to be together in the same world but they just want to meet again, not caring about what's behind them. They're on parallel lines but that is okay. They just want to meet again. For deep thinkers: Just thinking if this old friend/lover could be his old self (vices). What if he's just singing his life out? - the yesterday and the now. What do you think? |

The singer has finally dreamt her ideal man, who seemed to only exist in fantasies, into life; and she's buried very deeply in that thought that she can't even remember her life before. "Can hardly think what life was like before I had you by my side. Can't say what I'd do without you knowing what it's like to have you." - From this, it's clearly stated that they're together now. Or maybe she over-fantasized about him that it affected her sense of imagination and reality. Maybe she thinks the perfect guy she has been dreaming of is finally next to her when he doesn't exist in reality. She is being consummated by her imagination of him and she knows it. "In my mind, I've been set free. We'll take this journey, you and me." And either way she doesn't mind. "Will you fly me away? Take me away with you, my love." I have fallen in love with this song the first time I heard it. I was reading comments on "The show" by Lenka and someone wrote a comment that brought up the title of this song and I just knew I'd love it. It's like the i-know-i-love-you-before-i-met-you sort of feeling. :D |

It's about how older people view teenagers nowadays and how they try to change them into their own acceptable standards, and the aftermaths of this change they all work their asses out on these teenagers. After all, the message of this song is "Your old ways don't fit their lifestyle in the second millennium. Instead you're making it worse. Something better should be taught/implemented or just stop this whole alteration shit!" I like the song. It's something only few people, like MCR, can spell out. The sound, too, is very catchy and entertaining. |

| Wow, 2014 and I'm still rocking to this song. It brings me a lot of high school feels. I so miss my high school batchmates. I remember rocking this song in all of the corners of our school! That moment when the teachers were like "What's with you people?!" and we're just "I'm okay. Trust me!" with all the eyeliners and black jeans. haha. MCR's music has been an inspiration and guide to us until now. Not because of their dark and sharp lines, but the message it conveys. It's all about the real world. That is why he used the word "toupee" in the following verse. Toupee is a wig. As the person in the song is getting bald due to old age, toupee could mean a second chance/continuation of the story. So what the song advocates is to appreciate whatever we have and enjoy when we still have time; AND if God allows us, let us face our mistakes in the past and make things right now. Wow. This song is so adorable. This has been my favorite song from A Rocket To The Moon since the first time. Okay, so it's about a simple and pure love. Simple because if you listen to it, it seems that everything is lighter compared to a more complex love which usually expresses sadness in parting; and pure because it is simply unadulterated. They're young but mature enough to know what they have is love. Nick has said the lines pretty clear. My favorite part was when he said "and I believe just anything you say. If you would tell me to get lost I'd ask how far away." That is way too cute. He doesn't mind being far apart because he knows what they have is invincible. He doesn't worry about anything that would happen in the future because no matter what it is, they are invincible. But another favorite part is "Don't take another step, don't breathe another breath unless you're coming back to me." It's like saying "Don't ever do things that would make this feeling stronger unless you make sure that we will end up together" because he's so in love with her already and any further move would definitely drive him crazy. They are not in a serious relationship or whatever but they are in love with each other and they know that it's invincible. It's just very cute and sincere. |

I actually have two interpretations in mind. One is what everyone says: that the girl died and he sings about how much he misses her. The song becomes just pretty self-explanatory if you would root from here. The other one is the complete opposite, which I am pretty more convinced about lately after hearing the song a thousand times now: that HE himself is the one who is dead. If you’re listening to his music for a long time, you probably know that Adam is not an ordinary songwriter. He speaks of what is yet to be learned by an ordinary mind. His is pun, but his is more than just pun, which is why people say he’s a lyrical genius. That is quite much so I am now going to interpret the song based on the second thought. [If you don’t like to read it long, just read the summary which will come as the last paragraph of this ‘novel’. Hehe] "The stars lean down to kiss you” – It’s probably twilight since the stars are now showing up to KISS her, who is definitely upon the bed of Earth [which means she’s alive]. “And I lie awake and miss you” – He’s awake and he misses her, but remember that doesn’t say if he’s awake as in “alive”, or awake as in “not asleep” . I am taking the second one for this. “Pour me a heavy dose of atmosphere” – Simply put, he says he’s out of air, which makes him dead. “'Cause I'll doze off safe and soundly, but I'll miss your arms around me I'd send a postcard to you, dear 'cause I wish you were here” – It’s like saying, “I’m into my rest but I will miss you not being here with me like we used to be”. Well, this doesn’t need to be analyzed. But I am making clear that he did use “WOULD” instead of “WILL” which makes the intended action not possible. You can’t just send a postcard from Earth to another world and vice-versa. “I'll watch the night turn light blue but it's not the same without you because it takes two to whisper quietly. The silence isn't so bad 'til I look at my hands and feel sad 'cause the spaces between my fingers are right where yours fit perfectly” – Well, this verse here, at first, will make you think that the girl died and he misses her so much, but try to think it through the opposite. The whisper can also mean the murmur of the dead, and the silence can also mean the quietness of the grave. It’s not the fact that he’s dead that he is not okay about, it’s all the thought he’s alone now and that they’re not together anymore. “I'll find repose in new ways though I haven't slept in two days 'cause cold nostalgia chills me to the bone” – He’s tired and he’ll move on and accept the fact that he’s dead because he just misses her and he knows he can’t do anything about it. “But drenched in vanilla twilight, I'll sit on the front porch all night waist deep in thought because when I think of you I don't feel so alone” – Vanilla, when used as an adjective can mean dull and lacking interesting characteristics. We already know that twilight is the time from after the sunset to the night. So he’s moving on from that plain and lifeless situation to accept what he really is now---dead. But he then said ‘I’ll seat on the front porch all night’, it can signify he’s starting to unravel his ghost trying in every way to be with her one more time. It’s the one thing he needs to do to be ‘not so alone’ because as he put it before ‘cold nostalgia chills me to the bone’. “As many times as I blink I'll think of you tonight” – Thinking about her equals chasing her as a ghost now (maybe haunting her by memories or whatever). So this line simply says he’ll do just everything that would keep them together again as much as he can. “When violet eyes get brighter and heavy wings grow lighter I'll taste the sky and feel alive again” – Violet is dark and wings are just a baggage in the back; so when dark becomes bright and heavy becomes light, which can mean when he finally has what he wants , he’ll feel alive again = he’ll be alright (get away from the silence and cold nostalgia, get away from the Vanilla Twilight, etc). “And I'll forget the world that I knew, but I swear I won't forget you” – He’ll forget Earth, which is the world that he KNEW (past tense) and all the worldly things, but not the girl and his love for her. This can further mean that he just needs some more time to be with her again and that alone is alright. It doesn’t need to be forever. So basically, he just wishes for her to still remember him even now that he’s no longer around (which he ensures by ‘ghosting’ her). “Oh if my voice could reach back through the past I'd whisper in your ear, ‘Oh darling I wish you were here’” – Oh if he could only reach her over the wall that divides them (the worlds of the living and the dead), he’ll tell her how much he misses her and how much he wants to be together. BUT HE KNOWS THAT IS JUST IMPOSSIBLE. Again he used “could” and not “can”. To sum it up, he’s so deeply in love with her and suddenly the worlds interrupted. He had to leave but he still hasn’t had enough of them being together, so he misses her too much that he just wants the girl to be dead also so they could be together, but he does realize that it’s very wrong so he’s trying to move on, but he still loves her and misses her and tries to just change her mind. At the same time, he knows these are all just impossible now. It’s like a war of desire against conscience going on all over him but deep inside he knows there’s no need for this war because it has already been decided: They’re done. In the end, it’s not important who died. Haha. The song is basically all about the feeling of missing that one person who is dearest to you. [But talking over WHO SEEMS TO HAVE REALLY DIED is fun, huh! That’s all. Bye. ] EDIT: Wait! My friend said this song is dedicated to Adam’s late girlfriend. -.- But I don't care. hahahaha |
