Chet Faker – I'm Into You Lyrics 11 years ago
Am I an idiot for thinking that it's supposed to be

"I know you don't want
A love you can sing"?

Iunno, it just makes more sense to me. Like, she doesn't want a love that can be put down in words. Whatever.

Angus and Julia Stone – Just A Boy Lyrics 11 years ago
I reckon that this song is about innocence, and the loss thereof. He's sweet, shy and silent and she's coy and confident- and for some reason, when the lyrics say

"That big old smile was all you wore"

I think it means that she's literally not wearing any clothes. It's like, she's kissed him, let him drink her magic potion, led him on and now she's about to break his heart.

So yeah. Just my two cents.

Bat for Lashes – Laura Lyrics 11 years ago
I reckon this song is about a girl -obviously named Laura- who's dropped out of high school with no respect for herself and a girl she never really noticed before is singing the song to try to remind her what she's worth. IE:

"You say that they've all left you behind
Your heart broke when the party died"

Is the sound of Laura's lamentations, because she used to be the life of the party, and everybody from school seemed to love her until the is was over and the people she used to know either forgot about her or degraded her by calling her a slut while she wasn't watching.

"You're the train that crashed my heart
You're the glitter in the dark
Oh, Laura"

The girl singing the song has always admired Laura, even after she dropped out of school and nobody ever really heard from her, except in relation to blowjobs and promiscuous meetings and all the boys abuse her and all the girls hate her. But the singer still holds her in high regard, and can't stand to think that Laura isn't what she used to be.

"You’re more than a superstar
And in this horror show
I’ve got to tell you so
Oh, Laura
You’re more than a superstar"

The singer finally gets in touch with Laura and she just burts it all out because she wants her to know the way she feels.

"You say that you're stuck in a pale blue dream
And your tears feel hot on my bed sheets"

The two girls become friends, and Laura is crying all the time, wishing she could wake up and go back to dancing on tabletops while the teacher's back was turned. The imagery of a "pale blue dream" to me implies that se's growing emotionally distant and perhaps a little depressed.

"Put your glad rags on
And let's sing along
To that lonely song"

The singer knows that her friend is uoset, but doesn't know what to do, hence the reason she writes wthis song.
And finally:

"You’ll be famous for longer than them
Your name is tattooed on every boy’s skin
Oh, Laura
You’re more than a superstar"

The singer reminds Laura that her "name it tattooed on every boy's skin", meaning that she really did break the hearts of all the boys she ever met. She is assured that she'll be "famous for longer than them" because, the more the kids that stayed in school try to hate her, they'll only end up keeping her memory alive while they themseves sink into the background.

So yeah.
