Creedence Clearwater Revival – (Wish I Could) Hideaway Lyrics 8 years ago
It could also be that the protagonist has a friend who has been drafted for war, and has all but given up on life. Whether it is or not, it is a good song to listen to when dealing with the loss of someone.

Taproot – No View Is True Lyrics 10 years ago
Agree as well, absolutely about religion. Honestly, Stephen Richards has a way of putting things in perspective that really inspires me. Most of the songs are about relationships/breakups, but even then he has a different take on things. The lyrics are really inspirational but at the same time they usually deal with the darker side of the subject as well.

This song gives me the overall feeling of peace. I get it from the guitar as well as Stephen's lyrics and voice. The guitar just feels so triumphant.
Rock On Taproot!!!

Taproot – She Lyrics 10 years ago
Self-explanatory, about a woman who controls and consumes in a relationship. It's really not fair but most dudes have either been there or have seen it first hand. Rock on Taproot for telling how it is (or can be.)

Taproot – Facepeeler Lyrics 10 years ago
To me the lyrics are completely open to interpretation (it is songmeanings.com.) But I think the true strength of this song is the songwriting. Really, it's hard to beat the explosion of guitar everytime they hit the chorus. And the breakdown at 3:01, it's really just amazing, one of the highlights of Taproots career. This song is also amazing live!!! Really gets you pumped! Taproot is an amazing band and deserves all fans support, hardcore and all else. Rock on Stephen, Mike, Phil, and (Dave?).

Taproot – Game Over Lyrics 10 years ago
I think this song is a metaphor for a break-up. The verses delving into the sailing/sea aspect of the song while the chorus ties everything together. I personally love the guitar on the intro to the chorus, Mike Dewolf is a genius!
Rock On Taproot!!!

Taproot – I Will Not Fall For You Lyrics 11 years ago
To me this song is about not falling for religion.

Well I hear a voice of faith
Resonate a belief in choice
With no way to escape

(About how religious beliefs restrict people in todays society from making choices based on themselves.)

Separates the good of evil
Placing shame on helpless people
Stabbing hate infectious needles
Shallow forces spreading seeds will

(Breaking down religions overall purpose while disagreeing with its rules and restrictions.)

I Will Not Fall For You

I am not religious but this is one of a few songs with religious connotations by taproot. Not that I am complaining but it is a pleasant change from the usual taproot subject matter of girlfriend/boyfriend troubles (makes me think of my X too much.)

Love it though,
Rock On Taproot!

Sounds like a double meaning deep throat song. (maybe it's just because of the xxx website with the same name)

Who knows, Good song though.

Chevelle – Shameful Metaphors Lyrics 11 years ago
This song to me is about remorse for not doing all that a person could do to help the people who absolutely need help (i.e. third world nations, poverty). When Pete says "So why then, has all my life made no sound" it really strikes me emotionally that a musician would admit that his life has made no sound, meaning to me that he has not done enough of what his humanity tells him that he should. Furthermore, "And are you're eyes closing even now" meaning 'you' don't care.
"Behold the lost, behold a band-aid." signifies the way we cover it up with ways to make ourselves feel better about the injustices in the forms of missionaries and other people volunteering for the deeds that we feel deep inside that we should do. This song really speaks to that lack of humanity greedy humans. Case in point.
Rock on Pete!!!.

Chevelle – Jars Lyrics 11 years ago
I agree with that fact that their lyrics are open to everyone's interpretation. It really brings out the Tool influence in the lyrics, Maynard James-Keenan was the same way, profound but vague.

Having said that, here is my interpretation. I like to think this song is about human beings' willingness to try to save the world through preservation instead of curbing the negative acts (pollution, material excess, greed). Put what we might lose into jars instead of insuring that it is there in the future. Add everything into jars so we can claim that it's not lost though in reality it is. Extinction, obsolete technology, fossil fuel's ("oil that tastes like blood") being possible things that we will need to save through jars instead of changing our ways. Rock On Pete!

Chevelle – Roswell's Spell Lyrics 11 years ago
I'm sorry but there is no way this song is not about alien contact/abduction. Cat's eye's, finds, double labeled hoaxes, a man that knows, dyad scout craft, roswell, reformed witness, hand's reveal a 'meeting'. Then he begs the question "does anyone really see anything, does anyone really see anyone." Maybe it's about the mental ploy of perceived alien abductions but that also fits in the same vein. Also, I feel that this album is almost a concept album about aliens, I say almost because not every song is but tracks 7, 8, 10 seem to have alien connotations. Perhaps they took a page from tool's 10,000 days 'Rosetta Stoned"(Tool is one of Pete Loeffler's influences admittedly). On another note, the rest of this excellent album seems to be about humanity (to put it vaguely). I like the humanity/alien contrast, but every song is just powerful. Rock On Pete!

Chevelle – This Circus Lyrics 11 years ago
I think this song is about Pete playing for the multitudes of people and realizing the primal function of music. "Below, they're begging for it", either they run (not like the music) or they grab and hold (Love it!). And perhaps the "sleazy at night" is a reference to groupies. Who knows, maybe I'm over simplifying it. Rock On Pete!

Chevelle – Piñata Lyrics 11 years ago
This may sound out there but I always liked to think of this song as being about suicide bombers. "Bed of angels" being the main pull for that, But I could see the sex reference, definitely plausible. I like it when the meaning is open to the listener, but when the artist specifies it puts all opinions to rest. Rock On Pete!
