John Lennon – Imagine Lyrics 11 years ago
I am sure that the line 'no possessions' means exactly that. He is more likely to be saying that we should not all place and base our lives solely around materialistic gains and possessions. There is also a hint of the question of hipocrisy here. Like one's willingness (or not) to give up life's luxuries for the greater good. In a world of equality we would all be 'sharing all the world' He talks of 'no countries' basically he means no boundaries on the worlds map and hence no conflicts and no wars. No rich countries and no more poor ones. And no religion? Well we all know that throughout antiquity and right until the present day religion has been one, if not the biggest cause for war and conflict known to man. Take religion out of the scenario and right away we have the makings of a much more peaceful world. I love this song. It's a very simple clear message to everyone in the world, whatever class or colour or creed. Imagine how much of a better world we could all be living in = imagine all the world living in peace.

John Lennon – Working Class Hero Lyrics 11 years ago
Can anybody remember the old flip style juke-boxes in the pubs? You would flip the pages until you found your chosen song then you would have a choice to play either the A side or the B side. No matter where you went to - every jukebox you tried would never allow you to play the B side to Imagine which was this song - working class hero. I wonder why? The genius John Lennon again using the censorship tactic to further express his message to a much wider audience!

John Lennon – God Lyrics 11 years ago
I think this is John Lennon saying that at that point in his life nothing else matters or is important to him other than his happiness with his wife. The long list are just examples of things and people that have in some way influenced great masses of people in the past and are of no importance to him. The last line expressing his non-belief in 'Beatles' is what leads him to say that 'the dream is over - what can i say - the dream is over - yesterday. Though he is well beyond the Beatles at this time he realises that they are still important to a great many people. He is basically apologising for not being John the Beatle anymore, that he still regards them all as friends though they will have to carry on. The dream (being the Beatles) is over . .

John Lennon – Happy X-Mas (War Is Over) Lyrics 11 years ago
I often think of Charles Dickens when i hear this song - why? Because he upset the system, the government and a who lot of people by highlighting the realities of the high and working classes and the gulf between them. In so doing, Dickens became one of the most read and influential authors of all time. Still as popular more than a century later. Much the same as i believe John here has the same intention. 'Another year over and a new one just begun' he is saying we achieved nothing and will continue to achieve nothing unless we act. 'The rich and the poor ones- the world is so wrong' This is an obvious quote. Global unification and peace is the main message to this song. 'for black and for white - for the yellow and red ones - let's stop all, the fight. this is John Lennon wanting world peace and a world without suffering and wars. A very clever man knowing that this song - a very well known christmas anthem as we have come to know it is known by and sung by millions of people the world over every year. His way of repeating his quest for peace every year? This song is a good example of John Lennon at his memorable best!

John Lennon – How Do You Sleep? Lyrics 11 years ago
I think to be fair this song is personal between the two. I'm pretty sure that if John were here he would be the first to say that there was so much going on behind the scenes between them and that it was all six of one and half a dozen of the other. I'm pretty sure even Paul would admit to that too. These pops at each other were just a over-spill of a lot of personal bickering between them both at the time. John (being John) was so much more aggressive with words than Paul and i think that's why many think of him being unfair.

John Lennon – Gimme Some Truth Lyrics 11 years ago
I think you'll find this song was john's protest against the American government who were attempting to stop his application for citizenship into the country. They were using his conviction for a drugs bust back in London as a means to stop him being granted a green card. The president at the time being Richard Nixon - well known as 'Tricky Dicky' This song in my opinion was a typical John Lennon, fed up with red tape and saying 'come on just give me an answer - can i come in or not? yes or no?
