I had not heard this song before but after reading the comments, it is very complex, twisted lyrics, blah blah, I decided to listen to this song. after a few times I think it's a simple song if you try to approach the lyrics from human psychology. The first stanza is like explain the situation: This is like you love someone but the other person is like a breeze. At times you get so close to the person you feel he is also in love with you. but then you kept believing in love while the other person acts just as acquaintance and nothing more. You try to accept that but inside you don't want to let it go, hope keep you get going. and then it happens again n again, You are almost confused, as if you are on a ledge. neither you are balanced nor you fall. The 2nd stanza is like analysis of the situation: After you have broken up with the person you ponder what went wrong. you try to give the person the benefit of doubt. you try to think of some reasons why it happened. you try to put yourself in the other person's shoes to find the reasons. sometimes you think you have found one but then it's just what you are thinking. it is like you try to comfort yourself finding a reason for not hating that person. if someone has seen the movie "Holliday", the character of Iris Simpkins, played by Kate Winslet, pretty much depicts the situation/settings for this song. |

The site does not allow you to edit your comments so Im adding a reply to my own comments to further add details. recently i was able to find more details about this song. I listen to it almost everyday and its addictive. if you search utube for "making of frozen" where madonna says a few things. 1. She believes in numerology, the numbers do affect life 2. Frozen is the 13th track and ray of light is her 13th album 3 After becoming a mother she wants people to see her spiritual side, things she believes in 4. It is dark n sad song and the director choose iceland for the shooting but she preferred desert as it more closely symbolizes death. 5. yes, she is representing a witch someone who is spiritually open and whose heart is open to see things as they are rather then giving the meaning as have been taught. this last point can be verified by watching her video for "Bedtime Story" where an arabic text written in sand is erased. The text translates to "try to forget what you learned". so all those people who say "It's a song about a sad lady whose lover is not open to her" Yeah Absolutely!! its just that the sad lady happens to be interested only in the heart and nothing else. WHY? |

Strange that people think that this song is about love. To understand the song better one must watch the official video. The video shows madonna in death valley. she is presented as gothic witch. 1 in 3 or 3 in one. Video is very creepy and watching it one can understand it is anything but love. Madonna represents Hecate, widely considered the goddess of witches.She is often represented in ancient times as having three faces or three heads (sometimes animal heads) or even three bodies, to denote the triplicity of her character and attributes (birth, love and death). The dog (or more specifically, bitch) is the animal most commonly associated with Hecate, sometimes a three-headed dog. black dogs were once sacrificed to her in purification rituals. She was also believed to manifest herself as a dog, and the sound of barking dogs was often seen as the first sign of her approach. You one see what your eyes want ..... frozen, when your heart's not open You only look at the things as you have been taught i.e the good and evil and how can you have enlightment unless you open your mind and heart; figure out the rest of the song meaning yourself. Its really satan calling to people. |
