I think it's the state of mind after a long term relationship and being scared to get close to someone again (apply some pressure) he still has feelings for this girl (you know that I would like to see ya next year) but he knows that he has to move on and find someone new, even though he's scared to get close to someone in case they hurt him (what happens when you lose every thing? you just start again, start all over again.) he misses what they had and wants to be close to her but knows that he will never have her again (you know that i would love to see you in that dress, i hope that i will live to see you undress) he's confused and doesn't know where to place his feelings (what;s my view, well how am i supposed to know, write to review, well how objective can i be?). he learned so much in the relationship and this girl taught him to come out of his shell and be himself and he doesnt understand why she's given up on him "behind your veil, i found a body underneath, inside your head, things i never thought about). so all in all dylan if you are reading this, you did all of the above to be and i hope you burn in hell with whatever whore you have this week, since you've had like, four in 6 weeks... well i kept you "faithful" (if you dont count all ypur texts to the other girl) almost six months, do i get a medal for putting up with your bull?????? I agree, that is what sugar we're going down was about, but this song isn't from the guy's point of view. Patrick's girlfriend cheated on him with one of his best friends and he got really pissed,wrote this and then modelled the next three albums on the downhill descent of his lovelife/ career/ mental break down. also, patrick's girlfriend actually said "he tastes like you only sweeter" and i found that out on an pnline blog that he posted on. sorry >:) xxx |

when it says "stood on my roof and try to see you forgetting about me" he doesn't mean it litterally, it just means that the guy's watching this girl get over her and go on to be with another guy and all this time he's seeing this and just hates it so much, and wants to hate her too, but he just can't do it, he still loves her so begins to hate himself for feeling this way.
in the first verse when it says "and if i could move im sure it would only be to you i must have dragged my guts a block, they were gone but the time we {talked}" he is saying that he tried to go to the girl and tell her that he understands where he went wrong, and he knows that no matter what he will end up going back to her, but when he gets there to talk, he doesn't have the "guts" to say how he feels because the more he walks, the more nervous he gets ("i must have dragged my guts a block... they were gone by the time we {talked}) hope this helped xxxx |

I love this song with a burning passion, I did an accoustic cover in a school essembly once, after an ex decided to leave me for a little whore.... ¬_¬. (but im deffinately over that... *sigh*) i changed the lyrics slightly when i sang it to "but you're just the boy all the girls want to dance with..." and everyone in the concert knew i was singing it for him.... even he was uneasy and after i'd finished i stood up and walked over to the mic, looked at him and said "honey, I don't blame you for being you, but you can't blame me for hating you" there was then an erruption of "whoop!" behind stage where all my friends were cheering me on heh heh heh XD |

Ha ha ha, you guys have all given quite educated answers and I'm going to be the typical dumb kid in the scenario and say, this song can't possably be the worst in the album, I absoulutly love it but what about those terrable remixes of Dance Dance and Sugar We're going down, which are brilliant songs, but should never have been used in a remix, and also this puts half of Fall Out Boy's songs on their ass, like "snitches and taklers" and "our lawyers made us change the name of this song so we dont get sued" and "I've got a dark alley and a bad ised that means you should shut your mouth"... so deffinately not the worst in the album, actually one of their best hits XD |

To be honest, this one isn't very different, Green Day experement a lot with their sound, occasionally changing it to accoustic, we've seen this in "Macy's Day Parade", "Whatsername", "Good Riddance", "F.O.D", and even a really good, fast accoustic called "Peacemaker" (which you should probably check out, it's amasing :D . These guys just like to vary their sound to make a statement that they aren't predictable, but this deffinately isn't a new style for them. hope this helped x |
