Rihanna – Drunk on Love Lyrics 11 years ago
It's about a new relationship and one that will hopefully last. I wish Rihanna well. May this one be a lasting one for her. It is what she wants and needs in her life, and always will. She also needs to keep Chris Brown (her past) out of her life so she can concentrate fully on this new love interest. It's best for both of them, and what is fair to him.

The Rolling Stones – You Can't Always Get What You Want Lyrics 11 years ago
Obviously a great band. The lyrics are self-explantory. I have to live them. I spent years loving someone who determined I was not right for her, and only she knows what she wants, desires, and needs so there's no judgment. I respect her decision. After a broken promise last year and one she could and would never keep (words ring hollow), I realized over the last month or so that I must move forward alone. Online "dating" is not for me. I have given up too much due to it. And over the past five days I saw what my future could hold, if only I let it. It was a "full moon" five days, getting asked out three times by three different women. I said "No, but thank you" to two, and an "I'll think about it" to the third who was in my life last summer. I believe in omens... and red flags. The omen (men) tell me that life will eventually move on for me and one day I shall get past the person who made the choice to live w/o me, just as she will continue with her life and eventually forget me as well. We have to see the glass as half full. I'm learning that, slowly but surely. "We can't always get what we want."...but at least we gave it our best shot. Nobody can deny us that. GOOD song.

Joy Division – Love Will Tear Us Apart Lyrics 11 years ago
SUCH a good band and lead singer. Good song, but confusing. It's the same song I've been listening to for quite a few years. It never changes. It never can change. I think it's about a woman (or man?) who harbors shame for her actions, and just cannot get past the shame. She harbors shame for not wanting to be alone, but it's not that the others don't understand. It's not that that is the root of the problem. She only wants another when she's feeling down, and the moment life becomes brighter that person is the last person on her mind. She considers long distance a 'relationship,' not realizing that it is one only to her. ONLY to her. And everyone knows that when she is feeling better it will be a repeat of the last time the sun rose high in the sky. Love Will Tear Us Apart sums up, to her, where she has stood for years and will always stand. And it matters not what anyone else does or says, for this song will always be central to her life. Sometimes it takes others to just toss in the towel and decide that they want more, and she won't ever be able give it to them. It's a depressing song, but Ian was a master (like Mercury, Brandon Flowers, and only a handful of others). Although I find the song depressing, I find it honest. I look forward to very soon not hearing it so often, for that will mean brighter times have arisen and others will have gone on in their lives and concentrated on those they will have welcomed into their physical/personal lives. Nobody wants to be unhappy as Ian was, and nobody should be. Good song.

Muse – Time Is Running Out Lyrics 11 years ago
How utterly insulting. We should all try convincing anyone, including oursleves, that that huge smile was fake or a part of codependency from almost the first day. Peddle that wheelbarrow of poo elsewhere.
GREAT band. Good song. I think it's about a very nice woman who drives a man slightly mad at times because he can't quite grasp the connection, and he can't see in himself what she sees. But who knows...all I know is it is NOT about co-dependency.

Sufjan Stevens – For the Widows in Paradise, for the Fatherless in Ypsilanti Lyrics 11 years ago
Do not apologize for us. It is no different than Christians judging every atheist by the actions of a few. God created us fallible. We are supposed to make mistakes and sin. It's how we handle those sins (repenting, trying not to repeat them, etc) that counts. Your interpretation is, of course, intellectually stimulating (as it usually is), but any "distaste" for Christians usually deals with religious bigotry, which in today's secualar world has become constant and acceptable. There is but one Jesus. The rest of us Chritians are humans who sometimes fail miserably and sometimes do what's right (by Him). An atheist's only guide is himself, and if you look at leaders across the world and from the past, you may see why I'd much rather take my chances with Christians.

Janet Jackson – Control [Soundtrack to the Video of Control][Mix] Lyrics 11 years ago
The lyrics are self-explanatory. We want to choose our own lives/actions and not be told what to do since we are adults. Sometimes, though, we misread what we've read, or due to preconceived thoughts we believe others are trying to control us iwhen they are not. Sometimes they're just trying to help us and to love us, but they fail miserably.

Taylor Dayne – I'll Always Love You [Live] Lyrics 11 years ago
I don't have anyone special in my actual life at this time, but this is a great song and it goes out to anyone who has ever loved me. You have put up with my big mouth, my big attitude, my temper, my frustration (that turns into anger), my sadness, my arrogance, my ineptitude to handle every situation the way it should have been handled, etc. I am no prize and I don't forsee anyone special in my life due to the choices of others, but I am nevertheless thankful to those who have loved me for me.

We do not choose who enters our lives, but we do choose who stays (up to a point anyway). And we sometimes do not understand why we become attracted to others, why we fall for some and not others, and why God ever intended love to develop between people. Sometimes we just have to have faith that He knew what he was doing, and just maybe it was to put two different people together to complement the other where each has shortcomings.

Some of us have lived the lives of the Philistines while others have led the lives of Judas, and both extremes are not what is best for us. So God tosses us a curve ball and we either accept that He knew what he was doing or we run from what may be fate. Not every relationship works out, and some don't really get a chance to begin, but the good memories remain with us. Sometimes just the memory of the sound of a nervous laugh or the amazing intellect brings us joy forever.

I love this song from this woman who really didn't produce much else that made her popular...it is upbeat and joyful, the way love is supposed to be...the way love can be between those who try to see the best in each other even though they ofter faulter the way humans beings do.

So to anyone who has ever loved me, this is for you. You must be incredibly special to have feelings for someone like I who lacks so much in so many ways, but whose heart has great difficulty forgetting those who have touched it and made the soul sing. Thank you.

Oasis – Magic Pie Lyrics 11 years ago
Can it. Who's ignornant and full of rubbish for generalizing about Americans just because some (apparently many) don't like their song? I like the band. This; however, is not its best song and those who don't like it have EVERY right (and obligation) to speak honestly about it. This is not a lovefest board, it's about interpreting meanings and offering opinions. Perhaps Noel and Liam should be thankful that ignorant Americans helped line their arrogant pockets. It's easy to bit the hand that feeds when you are getting fed worldwide, and you don't have enough class to shut your mouth when you're angered by opinions that differ from yours. Maybe it's a good thing these guys are no longer performing together if they can't take the pressure of their jobs.

HIM – Fade Into You (Mazzy Star cover) Lyrics 11 years ago
A decent cover, but no one should attempt this song after Mazzy.

THIS song epitomizes love and sex together as they should be...the greatest of all sex is in the context of love. For when there is trust, there is total relaxation, no fear of exploration, no fear of rejection if something doesn't go as great as both hope, etc.

When you are in love with someone, you are momentarily aborbed into one being. And there is no greater gift to each other and to one self as "fading into" one form.

This song always gives me chills because it is just so incredibly special. It's NOT a sex song. Some songs need to be untouched by another voice/band; this is one of them. This one belongs to Mazzy Star alone, no matter how many cover it...

The Chordettes – Never On Sunday Lyrics 11 years ago
She seems to be saying she needs a slight respite due to him kissing on her 24/7. Oh, such a horrible complaint:)

Love the old music, the sentiment of the times, the romancing as opposed to screwing, and just its innocence. Life gets more difficult with choices, and 1960 was not a year necessarily filled with choices. We're all too stressed, distrusting, and pretenscious these days. Here's to good music that just made you stop and smile.

Vanity 6 – Nasty Girl Lyrics 11 years ago
Perfect song when I am in my "nasty girl" mood. Perhaps it's because I am a parent or perhaps it's due to my age (and I am SOOOO thankful that I am from a different generation that wants wild sex in the context of a relationship of LOVE). How will any of these nasty girls maintain a loving, committed relationship that lasts for life with their mindset? And how do they think they will garner respect from others when they don't respect themselves? Guys who want a woman in their lives as more than a pet want a challenge. They always have; it's part of their human nature. And this song is just nasty, much like today's generation of females (generally speaking). The best sex is when people love each other, trust each other, have genuine concern for each other, and therefore want to please the other mind, body, and soul. And THAT is my soapbox moment of the day. Nasty song. Nasty girls.

DJ Cover This – Sex On Fire [Instrumental] Lyrics 11 years ago
And, yes, I am a sexist. God created man (the male form) to be extremely visual. He created women to be the nurturers, teachers, and keepers of family (which doesn't mean women can't be independent, single, and goal-oriented). It just means that, especially with our bodies capability to be harmed by disease and our emotions influenced by hormones unlike males, we need to be the gate keepers of ourselves and have some self-respect. It takes two to tangle, but it takes one to become pregnant, one to get diseases at much higher rates than males, and one (according to studies) to often want a relationship to come from a one-night stand. Yes, there are deviations to this, but women and men are STILL not the same beasts. And sex as recreation lowers it to the status of dogs humping in the street rather than a show of love between two people emotionally close.

DJ Cover This – Sex On Fire [Instrumental] Lyrics 11 years ago
MUCH better than the original version. At least this one lends itself to some imagination. Come on now (no pun intended), a blow job in a car? How downright creative is that! Ya know those blow jobs are hard (no pun intended AGAIN) to come by (mercy me); it is not like women and girls give 'em up easily. The standards for sex are so high these days, and sex is such a sincere form of flattery, not to mention love.

I think I'll stick to more creative songs about sex, and listen to them in the context of more than a quick lay by someone who lays with practically anyone who asks.

So here's to casual sex and it's glowing rewards of someone we don't love getting a mouthful of pen*s. We've come (there it is again) way, Baby. Now pass a cigarette in celebration.

Here's somthing better than a boring song about copulation:
What did the potato chip say to the battery? Drum roll......

I'm free to lay if you're ever ready. (Ba bum pa!) Excuse the sound effects; I realize they are not as aspiring as the sound of easy orgasm.

This is when you tell a person, if you want companionship than you need to come and get it. If you have the desire and courage to get it from someone else, than excuse me for not feeling too guilty. That's what this song is about. It's about taking a risk and trying something out of the your norm. It's about actually living that independent spirit and freedom you spout off about. You worship Obama and anything that makes you feel warm and fuzzy. I worship God and His teachings. I stand behind what I said; the most bigoted people I know are the ones yelling "tolerance," "Inclusion," and "diversity" the loudest. They have little respect for anyone whose views differ. God indeed expects gays to not give in to carnal desires, just as he would expect three not to marry, cousins not to marry, etc. We once had a moral center. Now we have an everything goes attitude. And just look how far society has gone down the toilet since we all became the center of our own universes.

Midnight Oil – Beds Are Burning Lyrics 11 years ago
I don't pretend to know what the song is about, but some people have managed to use the song as a platform for their views. First, the native Americans would be the first to state that the land belongs to no one, not even them. They may also indicate that in certain areas of this country they do extremely well due to being allowed to earn money and avoid taxes the way that all other Americans cannot. Often, it is tribal leadership that denies its people of a better life, not non-natives. As for musicians and their politics, I would have more respect for those using their fame, fortune, and captive audiences to sing about politics if they were more educated and spent more time researching issues. Let's face facts, most musicans (rock musicians, etc) were not the greatest students, and most never went past the 12th grade (if that far). They are often the alternatives types and I would guess that many come from crappy familes (families filled with dysfunction). Are these the people we wish to influence our young about worldly issues? Nope. I have a lot of respect for anti-war songs when the song is honest and when it is sung by someone with intelligence who actually votes and knows issues inside and out. However, most musicians now days are just angry, disgruntled, uneducated types who work very hard to sing to their sheep. And it's gobbled up by those who seldom read up on what is going on in the world and what is not being stated in our yellow press.

Anita Baker – I Apologize Lyrics 11 years ago
Operator, get my baby on the line
'Cause jus the other night we had a horrible fight.
I admit that I, I was out of control,
But I still love my man with my body and soul.
When the road gets rough, we say things we should not say.
But I never meant to treat my baby that way.

I apologize (believe me I do) Oh believe me I do.
I apologize (honest and true) Oh honest and true.
Because I know I was wrong
And so I sing you this song.
And I'm tryna get through to make it up to you yeah.

Operator, it was like a bad dream.
Lord you should have heard the way he shouted
And the way that I screamed.
I regret it 'cause I was unfair.
I took it all out on him just because he was there.
When the road gets rough, we say things we should not say.
I never meant to treat my daddy that way.

I apologize (believe me I do) Oh believe me I do.
I apologize (honest and true) Oh honest and true.
Because I know I was wrong
And so I sing you this song.
And I'm tryna get through to make it up to you yeah.

I apologize, for I was unkind and I wish
That I could go back in time.
Erase the good-byes and rewrite my lines.
But, come rain or come shine,
I'm gonna do right this time.
I apologize.

I apologize, oh baby, I do.
Because I know I was wrong
So I sing you my, my, my song.
I apologize

I apologize
Because I know I was wrong
So I sing you this song
And I wanna get, gotta get,
Need to through to you, yeah.

Oh listen, oh baby
I'm talking to you right now
I'm talking to you
Oh yeah, I was wrong, baby
Now listen to me right now
Singing it to you right now...

-----------------
Don't have a baby, but I like the artist and I know the lyrics by heart. (I also lie when it comes to claiming I know the lyrics by heart. Damn publishers.) For anyone I have blurted sh*t out at, I apologize. Not that I don't have a right to be peeved or don't have the right to speak my mind, but sometimes it is best (and kinder) to say nothing...just leave w/o a cross word. Dumping on the down is not who I am; rather, who I wish to be. My time is winding down and coming to an end here, so it's best to go out on a good note. I apologize. I'm sorry. That's what the song is about...

Why would you lie to your children. It should be enough that it was written for his friend (whom he apparently cared enough about to write a song for), and for her tennis team. The bicentenial was coming in a year, which helps explain the song even more. Telling the truth even when it's not wrapped up in a warm and fuzzy pretty bow is vital to being a good role model for children.

The Velvet Underground – Sweet Jane Lyrics 11 years ago
The reality is that those who hang in clubs and have repeated casual sex are either lonely or they cannot maintain a love relationship. How many people in their 30's and 40's and up do you see hanging in clubs who are in long-term loving relationships? Let's be honest. There's a reason the clubs are not filled with people in their 40's and up...it's because they've matured enough to have lasting relationships where getting laid is NOT the center of their universe. There's a reason older people aspire to have love instead of just sex. They're not the idiots. They know what's important and they work to maintain loving, lasting relationships. Man, you couldn't pay me to disprespect myself enough to go home with a stranger. If ya gonna be a whore, at least be bright enough to get a BUCK for it. Geesh.

Radiohead – Creep Lyrics 11 years ago
I am just so fucking sick to death of this song. It has become an anthem for people who champion their flaws, fears, easy routines, and shit ass choices. Man up, people. If ya wanna stay a creep, than stay a creep and stop bellyaching about it. You are what you are. If ya wanna be more than who you already are, than grow some damn balls, set a goal, and don't stop until you reach it. And as for those posting about one night stands and temporary relationships, ya all are ill. There isn't a human being who choses to be an unpaid whore unless s/he is lonely or simply can't maintain a loving, long term relationship. All humans want love and friendship...and sex through that union. ALL. It's part of Maslow's hierarchy, and it's part of God's plan. And if you're going home with girls/women who will sleep with any tom, DICK, and HAIRY DICK, than that's not a feather in your cap. That's gross. They are gross. They don't respect themselves, their bodies, and their character to be better than that. Ooooouuuu, I cannot imagine having so little love for oneself that to jump into bed with just anyone. So fucking much for the feminist movement; all it did was reduce women to men when it comes to being visual pigs who will take whatever they can get from whoever will give it. Ick Ick Ick. So champion this song as a way not to have to better yourselves and keep fucking easy females. It's such a grand accomplisment.

Damn Yankees – High Enough Lyrics 11 years ago
This is not commentary on the song or on you; rather something you said. What the heck does "settling down really scares them" mean? Has anyone ever been married 'cause it doesn't appear that way on this site. Except for foresaking others, "settling down" doesn't mean people have to change. I was married a decade and we allowed each other the space we each needed. We had some mutual friends, but we each had our own friends. When he wanted to go out golfing or to a club with his friends, he went (with my blessing). When I wanted to spend time alone or go out with a girlfriend to eat, he supported it. People shouldn't (and often don't) lose their identitywhen they marry (ie settle down). The other person merely complements them...makes life more exciting at times, gives them a lifelong companion through the good and bad times, supports them emotionally and pushes them to better themselves, etc. I'm sorry, but the sentiment on this site regarding "setting down" is often so negative...and without reason. It takes two people to keep a relationship exciting, and both must be dedicated to keeping it that way. The only thing I see different about being single is being ok to screw around. And for some of us, that gets awfully old, boring, stale, and way too easy to be really exciting. I'm also old school, 'cause (to me) when women become dogs like men with regard to sex, they behave disgustinly, and I'd be worried about the diseases I would bring home. I can't imagine having so little respect for my body (as a woman) that I would want just anyone to touch it. Ick.

Muse – Hoodoo Lyrics 11 years ago
Love the song. Love the band. What I hear is a song about a man (in this case) who has lived the same routine for over a decade perhaps because it was his way to get what he needed. He had it for so long that he perfected it. The payoff was good (and even great at times), so he knows no other way to get what he needs. He has confused lust with love, or just settled for it. He had become addicted to the highs of the chase and the downs of the endings. He doesn't allow himself to get emotionally invested/attached, for he knows the relationship will eventually end. He dares not risk...to change the routine that has works so well (temporarily) for so long. He has forgotten the high he got when he took risks and found reward. He has left behind his positives and forsaken them for his negatives, because they are inbedded in the routine. He sees his strength coming from lies and manipulation rather than from within. He cannot see what others see in him (the positives) so he does not trust. He dares not go out on any limbs as he once did, back when he accomplished so much in his life. He believes that if he allows anyone close, that person will envelop him and he will lose his identity. He does not believe in two individuals completementing each other and allowing them the space they sometimes need. He believes he will be judged on his failures rather than on his efforts. He wants desperately to remain young, although he realizes that his time is limited for the world does not stop for anyone. And he foolishly believes that only the young have fun, are free, and know how to live a fulfilling life. His stubborness and at times arrogance clouds his judgment, and his fear prevents him from deviating from his routine. The closest he comes to loving and being loved is from being behind a computer screen, where it is safe and easy. He does not trust himself enough to risk emotionally, so he will always stick with the quickest way to get companionship, regardless if it will never last due to the dishonestly (or lack of open communication). He hates to be shown a mirror, for he views it as someone looking down on him and finding him weak, rather than someone loving him and wanting him to at least attempt to see what others see. He views true love (which includes concern and care) as boring, not realizing how lustful and special and exciting true love can be when a relationship is built on knowledge and friendship and loyalty. He chooses to live in a dream world, while filling the gaps with physical relationships or short-term romantic ones. And, yes, he misses the opportunity to be someone more than who he has stayed for over a decade. He misses the opportunity because he wants no risk and fears rejection. I have a relative who 'owns' this song. And tonight instead of taking a risk, he will follow the same routine he's had for years. The only thing he will risk is another person. Why? Because he can and because it's easy. I have to wonder the moment when he made the decision to take the path of least resistence, because that is not the person I knew him to be; inside of him was someone bright and strong, and able to reach any goal he set. GREAT song.

Maybe? Really. Cool. Ya think they were together last night. I suppose when someone has the same well-worn routine perfected over the years, it's difficult to leave it. Risk takes balls.

Thanks for your interpretation. I don't think you're biased. Dramatic, perhaps, but not biased. This is enough for one day. Now it's time to live with people in the present, not on-line. I tend to be an in-your-face type of person; I like risk and reward.

Eddie Rabbitt – I Love a Rainy Night Lyrics 11 years ago
Eddie Rabbitt was the one and only country singer I liked as I was growing up in a great state filled with down-to-earth people who lived a slow life, but always hoped for even more. He had the looks, the voice, and the down-to-earth personality that was marketable. This is not my favorite of his songs, but it was one of his most popular. And I love a rainy night. I love to walk outside in the rain by the light of the lamppost and whatever moon may be seen, and just let the water hit my face and body. I concentrate on each drop I feel hit my skin, and they remind me how good it feels to be alive. The world seems quieter when it rains at night, and it's easy to envision all the fears and worries from the day being rinsed away. And if I didn't have neighbors that would strongly object, I'd strip down and dance to the sound of the rain hitting the trees and forming puddles. There is little better than the combination of music and nature, and sometimes nature alone creates its own beautiful song. Good song, although not his best.

fun. – Carry On Lyrics 11 years ago
"I've closed enough windows to know you can never look back"....got my friends, getting my health back, got my personality and brains to attract who I want to attract, got my spunk and energy for fun times, and anyone who doesn't believe I am on my way can go to Hell. You didn't trust me enough tonight,...you will never trust me, so it's all been an excercise in futility.

It's a FUN. song. Have your usual FUN. night. Happy Spring. It won't be long and at least the attempts at guilt will stop due to people being too busy in love to continue with the f-ing manipulation. Thank God for small favors. EVERYONE CARRY ON !

The Police – Every Breath You Take Lyrics 11 years ago
Some people need to stop, please. If you don't wanna be in someone's physical life than you have no say in anything s/he does.

Tom Jones – She's a Lady Lyrics 11 years ago
Never cared for this singer or his sweaty crotch on stage, and never understood how or why women would toss their bras up to him. Ick. This morning I started singing this song as I walked down the hall at my auto insurance office, and it felt rather cool. A man had just run up to me and asked me on a date, blindsiding me. Never expected it. Had no clue whatsoever that he had any interest. So shocked that what I blurted out made almost no sense and I'm surprised he didn't run the opposite direction. After he had told me how nice I looked, I walked away with this silly song in my head even though "Lady" does not describe me. Tom Jones is in love and is saying the woman is his. (The poor thing:)
