Richard was quite a reserved and quiet person, this song is about the struggles introverts face with the world, I also feel this song is partly aimed at Barrett "just give it time and speak my name" but that could also be to fans who feel depressed "speak my name" could be "look how far i've come with these problems"
Richard is a legend, nearly all of my favourite moments of Dark Side Of The Moon were orchestrated by him. |

I always thought it was a young bloke saying "pretty good" and another saying "yeah" either Richard or another young guy, I saw it as a song about how Richard is making this amazing music and people are unenthusiasticly complimenting it, but it doesn't get him down as the happy atmosphere of song suggests; maybe that's just me. |

I also think its about a subconcious out of control, possibly talking about schizophrenia, how he has to be in an altered state of mind in order to function; this is why I think it's most likely about Trent's alcoholism. |
