Marilyn Manson – No Reflection Lyrics 12 years ago
I discovered this song a couple of days ago and I already love it. I've had this love-hate relationship with Manson ever since The High End of Low but this song has certainly reassured me that the dark genius of Antichrist Superstar and Holy Wood is back. I like that. I really do.

I think this song carries a very personal meaning. It seems like Manson is talking about a certain alter-ego, probably a rather evil and violent one. At least that's the impression I get from the music video and the overall sound of the song. Maybe this ego is overtaking his life and making people avoid him.

"A gun's cliche, and a razor too
I'm not a deathshare vacation, vacant station
Made of scars and filled with my old wounds
This'll hurt you worse than me."

Think about it. He spoke about this being his "big comeback" so perhaps this song is his declaration of liberation from that alter-ego. Or maybe it fully overtook him. I don't know really.

Also, I agree with TryingToBeHuman. It is definitely "I'm weak seven days a week".

-M.

Jack White – Love Interruption Lyrics 12 years ago
Firstly, please correct the song title - it's "Love Interruption", not "Love Interrupted" and is the lead single from Jack's first solo album Blunderbuss which I'm very excited for. I've been seriously looking forward to this for a year (The White Stripes split in February last year, didn't they?).

Anyway. I love this song especially because it's so true. Love's like he describes in the verses. I've experienced it once, and the consequences were so weird that they made me an absolutely different person. I hope to never love again, and I'm quite sure I won't, because as he says in the chorus, love will "disrupt, corrupt and interrupt me".

That's just my take on it of course. This is a great (mind you, excellent) song, and great songs have multiple meanings, depending on who interprets the lyrics. It might mean one thing to the lyricist, but completely another to the listener(s).

Madonna – Love Profusion Lyrics 12 years ago
I've always thought this was a pure love song until recently I heard the "Jew" in "I got you under my skin" too. Funny how songs can have double meanings that are so different.

Madonna – Hollywood Lyrics 12 years ago
Yes, this one is pure sarcasm. I think it's about how Hollywood is superficial and that everyone who wants to become a star always thinks they *need* to be in Hollywood like there's no other place on Earth.

American Life is Madonna's greatest album, Confessions was good while Hard Candy was just a joke. MDNA looks like Hard Candy Part 2 which is not good at all. I hope Madge returns to this sincere style of music.

That is so very correct. Thank you for this interpretation. I was completely clueless about what this song meant and why it was titled "Gold on the Ceiling", for about two-three weeks.

Florence + the Machine – Only If for a Night Lyrics 12 years ago
I've got no idea why but I keep hearing "came to repay" instead of "came to weeping" in the first verse. I guess it kind of makes sense both ways.

I heard about her grandmother committing suicide but for some reason didn't associate this song with that event in Florence's life. This is such a bittersweet song. I can relate. May you RIP, Gran. <3

Icon For Hire – The Grey (Scripted version) Lyrics 12 years ago
Very Evanescence-ish but really beautiful at the same time. I never heard the original version of this song so my interpretation is for the album version.

I'm not too clear on some points but the overall thing as I see it is about being in between of something. "Caught in the grey" is the line that tells us this. "The grey" is the part when everything is in a mist and you can barely say what is what.

Icon For Hire – Theater Lyrics 12 years ago
I instantly understood this song at first listen. It's about rebirth, starting over.

The chorus is pretty much straightforward.

"I'm gonna burn this theater down."

Theater = life. The protagonist is going to start all over again.

"And pray to God for the strength to help me face the crowd."

Some masses say Icon for Hire is a Christian band which is probably because of lyrics like this, and the other way round. She says she's going to pray for help and strength to get through the surprised faces and reactions of people she knows now. I understand how she feels. Recently I "converted" from Christianity to Buddhism and changed a huge part of my beliefs, looks on the world etc. and everyone was like "What? But how? How can you?". So I understand.

"I wanna live like I lost the script."

The script is her daily routine. She wants to forget about it forever and be free in her actions and dreams.

"And scream every line like this is it."

Her (probably) final desire is to live every day like her last. Everyone wants, but only a few succeed. Great song.

Icon For Hire – Make A Move Lyrics 12 years ago
There are a few mistakes in the lyrics.

I'm not sure about the initial meaning of this song but I'll make a guess and hope it's the original idea behind the lyrics. In my opinion this song's about the behind-the-scene people. About being unsure on something and not having the gut to go ahead and find out what's going on yourself. Pretty common happening. Or perhaps being stuck at something because it's safe there. Altogether, it's obvious there's a problem but you can't bother to go and check because it's safe where you're at.

I really like the punk rock style of this song and the chorus is just as catchy as it could possibly get.

Icon For Hire – Get Well Lyrics 12 years ago
Firstly, I'm surprised to be the first to comment.

I really like this song and the band as whole. They're pop-rock mixed with a bit of hip-hop and much grunge. Very contemporary and pleasant to the ear as well.

Up to this point "Get Well" is my most favorite Icon for Hire song. I'm nearly sure it's about times when you wish you didn't fake or lie earlier. It's about posers, mainly in gangs and stuff. The line that reveals the meaning is "And being lonely's only fun in a group, it sorta loses it's charm when it's true". Sometimes people lie just to be noticed and most of the time they do it so much that it's unclear whether they lie or speak the truth when they're really in need of help.

This band, Ariel (the lead singer) and their debut ("Scripted", released in August) are all brilliant. I do hope they get the recognition they deserve.

The Fray – Heartless (Kanye West cover) Lyrics 12 years ago
I just found out that they got a new album coming out very soon and that this is the first single off of it. I can't believe I missed the announcement then again I'm absent-minded.

I like this song especially the last part. It's different from their other songs that I like more ("Never Say Never", "You Found Me", "Over My Head"). I adore it anyway. I think it's about a couple going through a struggle or at least that's how it speaks to me. I can relate to it; the girl has had devastating experiences with love before and now she's all locked and he wants to help her.

That's how I interpret it. A very cute song and I can't wait for the album which I hope is just as great.

The Fray – Never Say Never Lyrics 12 years ago
I can't listen to this song without getting emotional or start thinking deeply. It's just that touching to me.

I agree with everything that has been said up to this comment on the song's initial meaning. It's a great song, thus it can have multiple interpretations and people can relate to it depending on their own experience.

In my case, it was with this girl I met on the internet. She was my age, nearly all the same interests and preferences, and she was one hell of a fun chick. Unfortunately she lived far far away. All summer long we were chatting and we slowly became best friends, only to find out we had feelings for each other. To add to that, she was my very first true love. About a month ago she decided it was best for us to break up because if we ever met it would be years away from now. I begged her not to let me go but it didn't help. We still maintain contact now through Facebook and stuff but it's obvious that we'll never be the same as we were before the relationship. I still regret all this and sometimes I wish I never fell in love; then again that's one of my most bittersweet experiences in life so far.

So, I guess it's just that; "don't let me go, don't let me go", but you have no power over that. Excellent song and The Fray is at their peak.

This is a masterpiece, because only a absolutely flawless song can have multiple interpretations. It can be about a sexual encounter; one night stand; relationship or mental issues, even religious confusions. Admit it, Florence is a musical genius.

Owl City – Fireflies Lyrics 12 years ago
This is a really beautiful song and really hit me the first time I listened to it.

Certainly it is about not wanting to leave your childhood behind and growing up. It's the "high school" phase in everyone's life described here. At high school people change, and radically. More maturity, everything is becoming more difficult and real, it's impossible to describe in words, you have to live through it to understand. The fireflies are the memories, dreams, wishes, etc. as previous commentators noted. I do agree that this song is not limited to only one interpretation.

During the past few years; when this song was released till now, still; many of my relatives have passed away, in accidents or otherwise. I've never witnessed something alike, and shall I say I'm 14. In all this time, this song has been a source for hope and inspiration to me. One can't be weird for hating goodbyes, it is human nature. I love this song and I hope Adam releases more stuff like this soon because his latest albums are not that impressive to me.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Californication Lyrics 12 years ago
I love this song and this is probably one of the greatest tracks of all times. It speaks about the dark side of death, "American dream" and almost definitely death too. Such a deep song with a great message. The Kurt reference is 1) a dedication to the late icon and 2) another metaphor about death.

This is no doubt one of, if not the, best Rihanna tracks, in my opinion. I love the emotion in it and everything in general, and how peacefully she speaks of setting herself and her boyfriend on fire. Amazing!
