R.E.M. – The One I Love Lyrics

I'm sorry, but you play yourself and have for decades. You are just too dumb or dishonest to admit it. Eventually you'll tally up what you have lost while the rest of the world moved on leaving you behind... |

Love the band but this song is sick. And not the good kind of 'sick." The artists obviously know nothing about love because the lyrics have nothing to do with love. The lyrics about using people and about fear of love. Horrible lyrics, but good band! |

The Smiths – This Charming Man Lyrics

Doesn't have to be about homosexuality. I think it's about any predator who fakes charm to entice those less powerful and knowledgeable and wise. He uses his charm (his wisdom, position, and power) to use them. It's a sickening song, but I love the band! |

The song's a JOKE. It's about an old person who needs youngsters to feel good about him/herself so s/he parades around enticing iand manipulating innocent, gullible, powerless teens with whatever charm s/he fakes. Hate the song, but like the band. |

Adam and Andrew – Emo Kid Lyrics

What is an emo? Are they the metrosexual guys who dress in black and their black-clad girlfriends? I find it amusing that the song states they're non conformists because any "group" is, in essence, conforming. And those who try hard to be 'different' end up looking like everyone else in their peer group. We humans are such funny creatures, always striving to say we're individuals when in reality all we ever want is to 'fit in' and be loved/liked. |

Radiohead – The Thief (Can cover) Lyrics

KUDOS to the Halloween thief who burglarized my porch. Had he waited one day it would have been beside the road with a "free" sign on it and he wouldn't have had to work so hard :) My pride is hurt that both the dog and I didn't hear the nasty little bugger! Perfect song for this morning. |

Helen Reddy – I Am Woman Lyrics

Good for you! I wouldn't trade the decade I spent fulltime with my children. For approx 3 years I actually felt guilty for staying home and not bringing home a paycheck. It wasn't until my spouse looked at me and told me to stop it; he assured me I was the only one who felt I needed to earn a check as he viewed me as a huge contributor to the family (and its needs). My years in the feminist movement had conditioned me to value working outside of the home over what was best for my children...the next generation of society contributors. |

Helen Reddy – I Am Woman Lyrics

AMEN. Love this song. Always have. I recall when it first hit the airwaves. It was OUR song...the white woman's anthem. Minority women didn't have the choice to stay home due to finances, which is why they were (as a whole) absent from the feminist movement. There was also a reason for the movement which you didn't touch on...the number of 'displaced homemakers" was growing...divorce was now becoming acceptable and the number of women (with no work history or fiscal credit) were left to raise children while living under the poverty level. Many men (today it's both men and women) were not paying child support. The courts, although favoring the women in custody issues, often did not make fathers as accountable fiscally as they should have been (considering the wife often had less education and less workplace training, etc). The original feminist movement was about choice (not necessarily abortion), but it later morphed into something I ran from...it became a movement that frowned upon real choice (to either stay home and raise children or to go fulltime into the workforce) and became dominated by lesbians who (at that time) often did not have children. The "needs" of the female who wanted to remain in the home to give her children the best start possible in life were NOT being met by the movement. Eventually (as it is now), abortion and gay marriage became topics that dominated the movement. That's not to say the movement did not produce positive results. Women (in 1972) were finally able to get credit cards w/o the approval of a spouse (or having to be on a joint account). Women in the workforce begin to see backlash against sexual harrassment and lower wages based on gender. Corporations began to offer day care services for mothers so their children could be cared for nearby. The courts began to see women as equals under the law, etc. Domestic abuse laws changed (when I worked with abuse victims at an underground shelter decades ago a man could not rape his wife and police would often not take a man to jail even if the woman showed signs of abuse unless she was strong enough to point out her abuser). I could go on and on but I have been told I am BORING:) Anyway, I love this song and it's perfect for a day of painting and doing other tasks that were once reserved for males. I am woman hear me roar but damn it would be nice to snuggle up next to a warm bodied male with all the right parts :) |

Alex Turner – Stuck On The Puzzle (Full Version) Lyrics
| 12 years ago
|
"Magnetism" does not usually refer to looks, although I could be incorrect. It's a GREAT song by Turner. I once had a HUGE crush on the football captain/wresting state champion who was my close friend. I drooled over him for two years before I let him know (rather; he figured it out). With each girl he dated, I was lost (on that puzzle). I wanted to be the her he was dating, but the last puzzle piece was always out of reach. What's ironic is that his wife brought us back together (as friends) through Facebook more than two decades later; he and I joke around daily and I've even scolded him for viewing me as "one of the guys" instead of a love interest. |

Wiz Khalifa – Black and Yellow Lyrics

I had to comment because this is one of my least favorite songs...if not my LEAST favorite. Black and yellow? I visualize a bumble bee every time, although I LOVE big round beautiful bumble bees and I detest this song. When this song plays, I don't wish to take the time to understand it. It's like Chinese water torture to me or the torturous drowning they did at G. Bay with Afghanistan/Iraq combattants. And what's a "hoe"? A yard tool? No man who sings black and yellow in repetitive motion should have the b*lls to call women hoes. It's just not right. Now whips and diamonds sound interesting; I'll take the whips and sell those diamonds...perhaps the off-key auto tuned pop king Kanye West can use them to make a set of dentures when his first set of material waste needs replacing. Did I say I hate this song??? |

The Clash – Lost in the Supermarket Lyrics

I doubt most songs are about capitalism for most musicans are bright enough to know the reason they are fiscally successful is partly due to capitalism. The lyrics point to a life of problems...of lonliness and not feeling as though one "fits in." "I empty a bottle and I feel a bit free" speaks to the need to drown ones pain. LOVE this band. Danced to their music many times in the early 80's... |

Simon and Garfunkel – I Am A Rock Lyrics

Peole who hurt themsevles don't go and tell others about it. If you were going to cut, you would do it quietly and when you're not online. I am not your keeper. And I am tired of empathizing with you and caring about you. It got me NO WHERE. I will regret my evil, ugly wrath tomorrow, but I will not be online to apologize. You'll have to take my word for it; I will eventually be sorry for hurting you, just not sorry enough to keep you company while you are in a relationship with another. Now I need to find a cigarette somewhere or drive to the store. Ugh. |

Have not worked with even ONE man with a PhD who could relate to those under his level of intelligence. He refused to become "user friendly" so others could understand; it was against his ego (rather than will). Yes, I am stereotying, but that is from my personal experience. What's your excuse for thinking everything is about sex... |

Blindside – Painting Lyrics

Nice interpretation. I am painting the last room in the house today and wanted something that was uplifting (other than Ying Yang Twins and Banner ;). Every life goes through cycles...black to gray to pink to flaming reds and oranges! Life is what we make of it; it's definitely not fair, but how we handle what God tosses our way is what helps the color wheel to turn... |

Britney Spears – He About To Lose Me Lyrics

The song is not about love. If one can be drawn into engaging in lust so easily than s/he was never in love....perhaps just in love with love's concept, but unwilling to go the distance that love requires. This song's lyrics are shallow; superficial; and rather pitiful. I'm guessing the subject of the song (the one tempted) will be cruizing the old people's mobile home parks when s/he's in his 60's and 70's while those who have found true love are snuggled up together inside their homes laughing; smiling; and enjoying real love. |

Just lovely. Seriously. Lovely. You spent so much time on figuring out that song. I can only gather that by your intelligent words that you spend even more time on relationships. How lucky your girlfriend is. Should you have the time, would you try to interpret "Then There Were Two" by John Murphy. I stumbled upon it and found it most insulting, but perhaps you will come to a different conclusion. |

Michael Jackson – Billie Jean Lyrics

Let me explain. Romeo sings to Juliette about his love for her as he's fucking her younger sister behind the bushes. I am angry with his lousy singing, not his screwing. He can't help it as he thinks short term and with his short head. He likes games. I like men who don't play games. Hopefully tonight's date won't wish to play. |

Michael Jackson – Billie Jean Lyrics

Gee...he paid off a family to keep a boy from testifying in court as to molestation and then he was accused again. He admitted to sleeping with other people's young children in his bed and only entertaining young children at his play house (sorry...ranch...I got him and creepy Pee Wee mixed up:). Who cares how much GOOD he did. He was a distrubed man whether or not he molested children. He was a gifted musician and dancer, but he was still DISTURBED.
I know the true meaning behind this song but I've seen it used to nail (poor choice of wording:) someone after they've slept with a person. He doesn't like his actions so he basically blames it on the girl. LOSER. |
