And it is his best friends turn to find that out. I have met a couple of girls like this in my life and yes, they make men flip so easily. Fornuately for me, I am like the male version of this song, but I repress sexual nature for years before meeting my wife. So, it's about being Self-confident and going at things alone, not needing other to get by in life and not caring what others think about you. And this entails all facet of one's life, so yes, sex it pretty much a facet in everyone's life. But people, this song is just way more deeper in meaning than just sex. This song is about the Apocalypse of man. In a Biblical context, the Joker (fool) and Thief are always referenced as the ignorance and sins of man. But the time will come that even the lowest of men with some spiritual insight will sense the confusion in the world. Bible refers to confusion as Babylon. Many scholars refer to modern day Babylon as America. And Babylon the Great, it will fall at the end times. Businessman, they drink my wine. Plowman dig my earth. (They will be eating, drinking, building, buy and selling before sudden destruction comes) And there will come a time when no one realizes why they are actually on earth, and mindlessly go about trying to self actualize materially, rather than spiritually. Our government knows California and almost the entire West Coast is going to sink, causing a Worldwide cataclysm. Its not a matter of if, but when. But us, we go about our business like nothing is going to happen. Wildcat IMO represents Satan, the Beast in the endtimes. Remember, in Revelations and Isiah, the two riders (witnesses) will come to Israel right after Babylon has fallen and during the time of the Beast. The Wind begins to Howl. That is the great tribulation and the destruction that follows foretold not only in the Bible, but by seers like Nostradamus and Mother Shipton . This song has alot of meanings. It obviously references the Is This It album, and yes, the that album was their best. Its a reference to Julian's wife and their relationship. Its a reference to the relationship to his bandmates. Its about how one moment you are madly in love with your significant other or close to friend, and the next moment your completely at odds with one another. But at the end of the day, the love you have for each other brings you back and wait for things to work themselves out. Beautifully and cleverly written song. Moment I heard this song, Classic Strokes came to my mind. Their best song in 10 years IMO. |

Mark Knopfler said this was about a girl he met at the Spanish City amusement park where he grew up. He spent an evening with her and they decided on remaining anomonyous to each other. He said he never felt stronger for someone than the girl he writes about in this song and you can tell. The guitar solo at the end of the song is just amazing. Evokes the feeling of longiness of wanting to find and be with someone you lost along the way. Best Dire Strait song bar, from a spiritual, lyrical and composition standpoint. |

This song is about himself. He wrote shortly after having his first affair with a man. Freddie Mercury was a very spiritual person, very evident by his singing, and this song is basically about the guilt he was feeling about becoming gay. He is killing himself, spiritually with his actions, but doesn't want to. Shivers down my spine, body aching all the time. THIS IS NOT ABOUT AIDS. Have any of you had the same feeling when committing sins/crimes that you know are wrong and it mentally and physically wears on you. If your a spiritual person, believe me, you have felt this before. This song also mentions Galileo, who recanted his works on fear of death my the catholic church, and catholic church at the time was killing christian, had orgies, pretty much corrupt in all fashion. Bismillah (in the name of God), we will not let you go. Basically a bunch of self righteous people are judging him and won't accept his actions, much like Galileo's, yet they do things that are equally sinful, maybe even worse. Beelzebub is the Devil and yes, he knows that he has been possessed by an evil spirit that he has to combat in his life. We all do, Mercury's was the spirit of unnatural affection, coined Gay nowadays. Notice how his attitude changes (songs as well) when he realizes that these self righteous idiots still reject him and show him no love or mercy despite all their short comings. That is why he says, you think you can stone me and spit in my eye. Stoning to me refers to the adulterous women and how everyone threw down their stones when Jesus revealed their sins. Today people dont, and can easily cast their stones just because they think their sins aren't as egregious, in their minds, as someone elses. So basically at the end, he is stating he has lost all faith, mostly due to people (humanity), and nothing really matters any more to him. |

Basically this song is a derivative of Willie Dixon song that talks about a Woman neglected by her husband and he wants to give her his love. You've been coolin', I'm goin' send you back to schoolin' (obviously she hasn't had any in awhile) Way Way down inside(The woman is repressing her sexual feeling despite her Husband neglecting her, but he is reminding her how much she wants it). Good times I been misusin' (He has been foolin' around with skanks and whores aka pretty Girls as people put it on here), but he realizes what he wants to do is satisfy a REAL WOMAN, which is why this song keeps on repeating the phrase WOMAN, something the World, especially America is lacking nowadays. Thankfully I married one, ironically enough she is from Ukraine,(7 years now) and I don't need to be skirted around. Believe me, I sang this song in my band and I am a very sexual person, I just waited until I found the girl of my dream to fulfill my sexual fantasy so that she would always be satisfied. |
