NOFX – My Vagina Lyrics

This song is about how NOFX hates trans women, because Fat Mike is a big smelly bag of dicks.
This band is lame as fuck lol |

Minutemen – King of the Hill Lyrics
|
This song is about how capitalism is alienating us all and destroying the planet, and draws parallels between capitalism and feudalism.
Still true several decades after the Minutemen put pen to paper |

Propagandhi – Supporting Caste Lyrics
|
This song is about living through late-stage capitalism and the decay-and-collapse of the European-American empire.
It's here, y'all.
"It's right outside your door." -Rage |

Warzone – Fighting for Our Country Lyrics
| 6 years ago
|
Lmao, it's so ~punk~ and ~rebellious~ to suck off the military and to blindly love your country and follow its leaders. This band is garbage and the next person I see in NYC wearing that stupid red white and blue Nazi cross shirt that Warzone sells is getting spin-kicked |

Mischief Brew – Every Town Will Celebrate Lyrics
| 7 years ago
|
This song kind of explains the rise of Donald Trump, in a way... a savior for the old cryptofascist conservative dinosaurs who were waiting for the second coming of Ronald Reagan to lionize and deify while he sells away main street, and worse, while they watch. |

Against All Authority – Walking Revolution Lyrics
| 7 years ago
|
This song isn't about the black masks of the revolutions, but the sentiments behind the masks. Every great revolutionary cultivated their rebellion against their teachers and parents.
Today, your room. Tomorrow, the world! |

The Clash – Clampdown Lyrics

Smash capitalism. Destroy the ruling class.
Long live the resistance!
Anger can be power if you know that you can use it. Let our collective fury have the hours. |

Rise Against – Whereabouts Unknown Lyrics
| 7 years ago
|
Rise Against's storytelling songs are painfully vague, and unfortunately I think that's what, often times, keeps them from greatness.
I always picture the characters in their songs being dissidents or revolutionaries trying to survive in a failed state.
It certainly makes them more powerful than them being about a scene kid love story/breakup in high school. |

Candlebox – Far Behind Lyrics
|
I know the singer says this is about Andy Wood, but I'm not convinced that the lyrics to this song are about anything. At all. Just about nothing.
That being said, in a wave of terrible post-grunge/third-wave alt rock, this song is actually pretty freakin' sweet. There is something artfully wistful, almost profound about this song, and the way it's presented... even if it really isn't about anything. I think it follows the theme of people who come and go. There are people who seemed like they'd be with you forever, but they don't always stick around. And sometimes we wish they were still around, but they're in the past, and we have to move on.
That on its own is not a novel or profound idea, but everyone has a few people who fit that bill. |

The Bronx – Strobe Life Lyrics

Have you ever read a first-hand account of someone who OD'd on heroin and woke up in the hospital, unable to move, blurried vision, with haze in their mind? This song is almost that exact moment. |

Ramones – Blitzkrieg Bop Lyrics
|
This song is rad, as are the Ramones. I don't think this song is actually really about anything. It's just a punk rock stomper made to skate or drive or mosh or jam too. Like "Search and Destroy" before it and "Bloodstains" after it. |

The Clash – The Call Up Lyrics
|
Pretty obvious on this one... it's an anti war, anti military song. It's up to you not to heed the call. Don't kill, don't enlist, don't go to war. Go AWOL. Military recruiters are vultures. Fuck the military. Fight war, not wars! |

Agnostic Front – Public Assistance Lyrics
| 8 years ago
|
This is a dumb, boneheaded, counter-liberation song. When the lyricist was asked about it, he gave a half-assed answer about someone smoking crack in his apartment building, and thus, fuck everybody on welfare?
"Get a job"? How square. Get fucked. |

Acid Bath – Bleed Me An Ocean Lyrics
|
This song is about what all Acid Bath songs are about... Paganism, the south, doing drugs, and being a Pagan doing drugs in the south. Rock on!
Acid Bath's slower stuff has often been compared to Soundgarden and Alice in Chains, but I was always reminded of The Doors for whatever reason. |

Incredibly poignant song. I like that they realized a song about rape would be more powerful in a woman's voice.

NOFX – The Marxist Brothers Lyrics
|
This is NoFX making fun of... people who take a principled stance on things?
I appreciate what Fat Mike has done for the scene, but he's kind of a dumbass. I guess he thinks everyone should write songs about getting drunk and doing speed, like him.
I'm glad bands have stopped taking after NoFX. There is nothing they've done that hasn't been done better by another band, and they were never really all that special. |
