Electric Light Orchestra – Telephone Line Lyrics 13 years ago
Awesome song. I don't find it too depressing, though. On the contrary I think it's rather hopeful. Yea, his circumstance sucks, but he's not giving up which is half the fight. Also, while there are memories seemingly directed at an individual, in my mind they could just be generic impressions left from past lovers and the man is making a metaphorical/hypothetical/fantasized phone call to whoever will pick up and recognize that he still has something to offer.

I like to see a lot of people with parents who got them into ELO. Makes me think I'm not the only 22 year old listening to these guys! :p My mother owned A New World Record when she was my age, but I found ELO on my own while downloading mad tunes in high school for my spiffy iRiver. Went on to buying their entire discography and have been listening to them ever since. Great stuff and really cool to see the band's dramatic transformation through the years from heavy prog-rock ala The Move, to straight up orchestral rock in Eldorado, to pop-rock as they started getting really popular, on to disco along with their decline in chart ratings and finally head first into synth-pop starting with Xanadu, but taking full force in albums Time and Balance of Power. Pretty wild stuff. Don't forget Moment of Truth, though! Breaking Down The Walls and Twist Of The Knife are freakin' raw. ELO Part II had some good stuff, but Jeff, where'd your painfully poetic touches go? They needed you.

Lady GaGa – Poker Face Lyrics 13 years ago
This song is bullsh*t. Any girl, and I stress the word girl, who actually identifies with this song is a heartless bitch, unless she's messing with perverted, narcissistic bro's, but in either case she's a classless slut (sorry, no real way around this one, honey). If you played me like this, which would never happen, but I don't need to go into details, I'd put bleach in your gas tank with absolutely no remorse. That is if you even had a car daddy didn't give you...

KiD CuDi has a song called Make Her Say featuring Kanye West and Common which is the male counterpart to Poker Face with actual snips of the acoustic version of the song. Anyone who made the connection between "poker face" and "poke her face" will be pleasantly amused. Goes to show for every whore there's a guy who doesn't care where he sticks it.

Rubbish!

Metallica – Master of Puppets Lyrics 13 years ago
nimrod: I like your thoughts. I'm not much of a Metallica fan, but this song is pretty raw, imo. Once you scratch past the surface it really could be about anything. Just because it says "chop your breakfast on a mirror" and alludes to drug use doesn't mean the drug abuse could stem from something completely unseen. I, personally, think it could even be about a girl. Imagine if this song was sung by a woman to her significant other. Pretty dark shit, but I find some women really do get off from the thought of controlling their man.

Infected Mushroom – Converting Vegetarians Lyrics 13 years ago
@ infectedmuchroom : To really appreciate this kind of music I think you've had to have done something... booms would definitely help.

The lyrics mean whatever you want them to. You could extrapolate every word and phrase a hundred times over coming to different conclusions every time. Good, uplifting song.

"I wake up! And my mind's out,
Never again will I sell out."

Just raw...
